Time Management and Balance Your feelings are important! If you are overwhelmed, stressed, or anxious, everything becomes out of balance. Here are some ideas to help you achieve balance. Relax – take deep breaths Be Mindful – be aware and IN the moment Get enough sleep, eat well, and exercise Spend time with friends and family – go for a walk together Talk to your parents, friends, counselor – reach out for help Balance – noun - “an even distribution of weight enabling someone or something Think positive – positive self-talk really does help to remain upright and steady”
Academic and Personal/Social Support If you are struggling in your classes - reach out for help. If a friend is struggling, encourage them to ask for help. Talk to your teachers, counselor, parents, and friends. Attend free tutoring in the library after school Monday through Thursday and the subject specific Help/Enrichment centers. Speak with your counselor about other intervention opportunities that are available. If you are struggling emotionally, reach out to an adult - your parent, your counselor, a teacher, or your AP. We ALL want you to succeed. Help us help you by reaching out.

Beyond CVHS Options Attend a Community College. Attend a 4 year college or University. Attend a trade, technical, vocational, or art school to learn a specific set of skills. Join the military. Get a job and enter the workforce. Take a gap year. Wait to decide until after graduation.

GCC JumpStart & Dual Enrollment Earn college credit while you are in high school by taking a college class in addition to your high school classes. Take college classes that interest you, and earn credits that will transfer to a 4 year university or college. Dual Enrollment courses are GCC courses that meet on GUSD campuses, offered both fall and spring semester. Jumpstart classes are college classes held at GCC. Meet with GCC Reps Tuesday during lunch in the CV counseling office to answer ???’s.

Next Steps Registration and course selection for senior year begins early spring semester – we will meet with you individually too. Our counseling presentation during the spring semester will discuss maximizing your summer, lots of senior information and deadlines including college applications, financial aid, community service, ways to make up D grades, and more. Remember to seek help from an adult if you feel yourself becoming out of balance, stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed.
