Then we go to the sector of Vinapu, archaeological site which is characterized by its large basalt slabs made to fit carefully like Inca constructions of Cuzco. We will also climb the Rano Kau Volcano, where there is a large lagoon, with small islands of totora and abundant vegetation and micro fauna. At the top of the volcano we find the ceremonial village of Orongo, where the rite of the bird man took place, which designated who would be next to the king the spiritual and political leader for a period of one year. This sacred figure with the body of a shrunken man and a great bird's beak is sculpted in many engraved stones. This area has several houses built with flagstone with a spectacular view of the cliff and in front of the three islets of Motu it, Motu Nui and Motu Kao, where the competitors had to come: going down the dangerous cliff, swimming on totora floats, searching the egg and go back all the way back. A true odyssey that we can understand only by being in this imposing place.
