                            shareable content

NAIDOC week is a celebration of the history, cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and
Torres Strait Islander peoples and is currently under way until 11 July . This year’s theme
is ‘Heal Country!’, a strong clarion call for more robust measures to respect, protect and
maintain all aspects of Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander culture and heritage.

It is also the Year of Indigenous Tourism in Queensland, so here’s some shareable content you
could use to celebrate indigenous culture in your region while also highlighting incredible tourism
                 experiences:

Applications open for funding support for events
Events being held around Queensland can boost their marketing or other components of
their event through TEQ ’s Queensland Destination Events Program (QDEP). Applications
for Round 20 of the program are now open, supporting events being staged from May
2022 – May 2023. QDEP funding seeks to leverage the crucial link between events and the
destinations in which they are staged, extending the flow of the economic, marketing and
social benefits of events throughout metropolitan and regional Queensland.

                 Funding can be used for:

                        Marketing costs
                        Strategic plan development
                        Engagement of short-term specialised personnel

                 International marketing update

TEQ Japan and Destination Gold Coast recently supported a 75-minute consumer
livestream event organised by JAL-affiliated wholesaler JALPAK at Currumbin Wildlife
Sanctuary. Sixty viewers paid around AUD$60 to be treated to a special behind-the-scenes
tour of the nearby hospital. A portion of their participation fee went towards purchasing
new eucalyptus trees for the sanctuary’s koala population. JALPAK’s promotion was the
first business-to-consumer livestream for an Australian destination and targeted an
audience interested in animal conservation and welfare via JAL’s extensive direct
marketing network, while also positioning the Gold Coast and Queensland as a place to
travel to support this worthy cause.

COVID-19: what you need to know

From 1:00am tomorrow, Friday 9 July 2021 the Check In Qld app will be mandatory
for more businesses across the state – including hotels, beauty salons and personal care
services, gyms, indoor and outdoor events and venues that attract large crowds - to check-
in customers and collect their details electronically. It’s free, safe and easy to use and
provides a convenient check-in process for your customers.

If your business isn’t already registered, check the website to find out if you fall into one of
the mandatory sectors. Even if it’s not mandatory for your business type, you should
consider using the app as a simple and easy way to meet your COVID-19 requirements.

It’s easy to register and get your customers checking in safely with the app, including step-
by step instructions and videos on how to use it.

Restrictions still apply right across Queensland, including limited capacities. See
the summary of current restrictions on the roadmap and see the Public Health Direction
                 for full details.
