Day Safari This is a great choice if you can’t spend extra vacation time to visit Krueger National Park. Typically you will be picked up at the doorstep of your hotel or guest house and transferred to the Game Reserve. Often time’s meals are included before and after you depart on a 2-3 hour Game Drive Safari in a 4x4 Safari Game Viewing Vehicles, accompanied by an experienced Ranger. Robben Island Museum R230 or $26 for adults and R120 or $13 for children (U/18) From the 17th to the 20th centuries, Robben Island served as a place of banishment, isolation and imprisonment. Today it is a World Heritage Site and museum, a poignant reminder to the newly democratic South Africa of the price paid for freedom. Ferries depart at 9am, 11am, 1pm and 3pm, weather permitting, from Nelson Mandela Gateway, at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. Nelson Mandela - In 1962 he was arrested and convicted of sabotage and other charges, and sentenced to life imprisonment. Mandela served 27 years in prison, many on Robben Island and a few in Paarl, while an international campaign lobbied for his release. He is best known as a South African anti-apartheid activist and politician who served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999, the first to be elected in a fully representative democratic election. His administration focused on dismantling apartheid's legacy, cutting poverty and inequality. Great White Shark Cage Diving! R1,750 or $195 per person Once the Great Whites arrive, you will have the opportunity to photograph these awe-inspiring animals feeding at the surface, right alongside the boat. This is when you enter the cage! It is recommended that you book well in advance and allow at least 2 days diving in case of adverse weather conditions.
