CAMP LINK 2019 Welcome to Camp Link 2019 - the Camp Link Experience Welcome to Camp Link 2019! A dynamic, active, enriching, and fun-filled summer lies ahead for your child. All Camp Link programming is directly tied to Ohio Academic Standards and is taught by highly qualified, Camp Link instructors. Camp Link provides a wide range of activities that encourage your child to pursue new interests, cultivate friendships, and develop strengths-all with an emphasis on having fun! Camp Link is held at Parkside and consists of two separate and distinct summer camp experiences. Children entering grades K-3 at the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year will attended Elementary Camp Link. Children entering grades 4-8 at the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year will attended Intermediate Camp Link. With activities and curriculum encompassing Film & Drama Club, Science and Math Enrichment, Reading and Technology, Field Trips, Gardening , Westlake Rec Swim Days, Planetarium Programs, Sport and Fitness skills, Creative Writing and Running Club ,Camp Link provides endless opportunities to enrich your child’s growth, independence, and self-esteem. Camp Link is held at Parkside - 24525 Hilliard and will be in session June 10th - August 22nd from 7:00 A.M. - 6:00 P.M. (closed on 7/4 & 7/5). We encourage you to attend the Camp Link Open House on June 6th from 5:00-8:00 at Parkside. Please review the: 2019 Camp Link Parent/Student Handbook! 1
Tuition, Fees, Payments & Field Trips. A fee of $4.50/hour will be charged for your child to attend Camp Link 2019. We suggest that Camp Link hours are purchased in blocks of 40 hours. The amount of time your child spends at Camp Link is deducted from your account balance. When your account drops below a $25.00(5 hours) remaining balance, an additional block of hours must be purchased. Upon registration, a enrollment/activity fee of $40.00/ resident student, $50/non-resident student, is deducted from your account. This fee is used to enrich daily curriculum. There is a $80 activity fee cap for resident families and $100 activity fee cap for non-resident families. Please consult the Camp Link Parent/Student Handbook for further detailed information. Weekly billing statements detailing all account activity will be emailed at the conclusion of each week. Payments may be submitted at Parkside in the form of a check/money order payable to the Westlake Board of Education. To submit online credit card payments, click on the SPS EZPAY icon located on the Westlake City Schools website. Camp Link 2018 field trips will be held each week on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Elementary Camp Link students have the option of enrolling in the field trip on either Wednesday or Thursday (same destination each week. Intermediate Camp Link field trips will occur of Thursdays. All field trips must be registered in advance, including payment of fees. Most field trips are limited to the first 50 students registered. On days that your child is attending a field trip, please arrive no later than 15 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time. We ask that all children attending field trips wear their Camp Link T– shirts on field trip days. Camp Link will depart at the scheduled time for all field trips. As a reminder, FIELD TRIP FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE and credits will only be given if notice is provided one week prior to the scheduled trip. K-3 Field Trip Itinerary 4-8 Field Trip Itinerary 2
Friday Westlake Rec Center Swim Trips Each Friday, Parkside Camp Link will travel to the Westlake Recreation Center for swim day. Students entering grades K-3 will depart at 11:30 A.M. and return by 2:30 P.M. Students entering grades 4-8 will depart at 11:50 A.M. and return by 3:00 P.M. If your child will be swimming, please complete the Swimmer Aptitude Form. You may change your child’s swim status, when skill-level permits, at any time. All campers, regardless of swim status, will travel to the Westlake Rec center (weather permitting) each Friday and non-swimmers will visit the playground or gym. Swim trips on June 28th, July, 26th and August 16th will be to the new Westlake Family Aquatics Center at Clague Park. Departure and arrival times will vary slightly from Rec Center swim trips and they are listed on the field trip itineraries Arrival & Departure The front northwest entrance will be open daily for drop off and pick up between the hours of 7:00 A.M. – 9:00 A.M. and 4:00-6:00 P.M. The building will be secured at all other times. In order to gain entry to Camp Link during hours other than those listed above - park in the west side lot and utilize the side entrance on the west side of the building. Each family will be assigned an access code which will afford access to the buildings during Camp Link hours. When arriving to drop off or pick up your child enter (# access code*) into the keypad located at the west side Camp Link entrance. The Project Link office will distribute access codes to families after registration is complete. If you have an existing Project Link parent access code - that code will function at Parkside.Upon daily arrival at Camp Link, children are to be escorted inside the building by an adult. Parent(s)/Guardian(s) may not leave until their child has been checked in via the attendance tablet and a member of the staff is aware of your child’s presence. At the time of departure, the parent/guardian or their designee, must enter the building, check the out via the attendance tablet, and notify a member of the Camp Link staff of their intent to remove their child. Parents/Guardians or designees may be required to provide photo identification as proof of identity upon request by Camp Link Staff. Students will only be released to custodial parent(s)/guardian(s) or additional adults who have been designated by the custodial parent(s)/guardian(s). 3
Sunscreen The Camp Link staff will apply sunscreen to students if the custodial parent completes a sunscreen consent form. Sunscreen must be brought from home and be clearly marked with your child’s name. Please make sure your children arrive at Camp Link each day wearing sunscreen. Children may also apply sunscreen to themselves. Account Management - Parent Portal Parents have the ability to edit information, check account balances, make payments, monitor attendance, print account and tax statements and register for additional enrichment programs via the parent portal. If you need assistance or do not have log-on information please contact the Project Link office. Medication Policy For the protection of students, the administration of medication while attending Camp Link is discouraged. When no alternative is available, Camp Link staff members will be permitted to administer medication with a signed parent consent and physician order form. The consent form must provide specific directions for the administration of medication. The parent consent and physician order forms are available in the Project Link administrative office and on the district website. Medication must be transported to and from school by the parent/guardian. A new parent consent and physician order form must be completed each summer. Footwear Students attending Camp Link will be participating in organized physical education activities. Please make sure that your children wear or bring appropriate footwear (rubber soled gym shoes). 4
Late Fee A late fee of $5.00/child for every five minutes after closing will be assessed for pickup after 6:00 P.M. Excessive and consistent late pickup will result in exclusion from the Camp Link program. Lunches & Snacks Students are required to bring a packed lunch each day that Camp Link is in session, unless otherwise instructed by the Camp Link staff. Your child’s lunch must meet 1/3 of the USDA recommended daily nutritional allowance. If Camp Link is required to provide your child with a lunch the cost of the meal will be deducted from your child’s Camp Link account. All students will receive a snack in the morning and afternoon each day that they attend Camp Link. At open house, you can be sure to; get your child’s locker, receive camp tee shirts, water bottles, cinch sacks, be sure your child is in the correct swimming group, get some tips on how to have a “cool summer at Camp Link”, and meet the teachers! Not enrolled for camp yet? Enroll online at: https://www.wlake.org/departments/project-link/camp-link Replacement/Extra T-shirts, Water Bottles & Cinch Sacks Available for Purchase If t-shirts, water bottles or cinch sacks have been misplaced, lost or walked away fear not. Replacements /extras will be available for purchase at the front desk. Current year and throw back items will be available and the cost of the item will be deducted from your account. 5
Westlake Police Summer Safety Series Westlake Police School Resource and Cyber Officers will be providing weekly instruction every Monday as part of the summer safety series. Weekly topics and themes cover a broad range if issues that students face including: internet safety and stress management, bullying and peer pressure, and medication safety among many others.
