ABOUT PATRAM 22 PATRAM 22 will be held at the ANTIPOLIS Palais des Congrès, in the beautiful Juan-les-Pins, Antibes on the French Riviera from 11 June - 16 June 2023. The PATRAM Symposia is the only international event dedicated to the exchange of information for packaging and transportation of radioactive materials and therefore presents a unique opportunity for the entire professional community as Industrials and Authorities. We host an average of 800 participants distributed between plenary conferences, technical sessions, posters sessions and a technical competition with awards to be granted. The purpose of event is to gather at international level, industry experts, representatives of the competent authorities, governments and research organizations for scientific and technical exchanges purposes, in connection with all aspects related to packaging and transport of radioactive materials.
A MESSAGE FROM THE PATRAM 22 HOST & CHAIR It is now just under a year to PATRAM 22, in the beautiful French Riviera resort of Juan-les-Pins, Antibes and the initial Call for Abstracts has already been broadcast. At this, the 20th International PATRAM Symposium focussing on the packaging and transport of radioactive materials, we have much to discuss and a great deal to reflect upon, not least how we have all dealt with the challenges of the pandemic. Equally as importantly, our reassembly gives us much to celebrate and Juan-les-Pins provides the most wonderful of backdrops for our community to reacquaint and refocus on the important work that binds us. COP26 has caused us all to look in the mirror and consider how we can contribute to sustainability through decarbonisation and, having been in Glasgow during COP26, I am overwhelmed by the groundswell of support for nuclear to supplement renewables in the climate solutions being explored. Nuclear energy generation and nuclear maritime propulsion are key areas that can contribute to decarbonisation and it is my hope that the PATRAM programme reflects this during our technical sessions. All in all, I cannot wait to meet with colleagues old and new during PATRAM to discuss and debate transport for a new nuclear era and I expect that, as we close our proceedings with a splendid celebration, we will all be reinvigorated in our shared mission of driving safe, secure, reliable, efficient and sustainable radioactive material transport. So my message is very simple, I want all our community to consider contributing technical papers to our programme and then we will have the opportunity to say to colleagues and peers see you in Juan-les-Pins!
