Scuola di Master e Formazione Permanente ART. 1 Programme overview The 15th edition of the 2nd level Specializing Masters Programme in “Petroleum engineering and operations” is offered for the academic year 2017/2018 in collaboration with Eni Corporate University. The administrative seat of this Specializing Master Programme is located at Politecnico di Torino – Office of Specializing Masters Programmes and Lifelong Learning (“Ufficio Master e Formazione Permanente”). The programme is managed by the “Specializing Masters Programmes and Lifelong Learning School” (“Scuola di Master e Formazione Permanente”). The Technical Scientific Committee is composed of: Francesca Verga (Politecnico di Torino), Andrea Carpignano (Politecnico di Torino), Armando Sturniolo (Eni), Massimo Culcasi (Eni Corporate University). The Programme Director is Francesca Verga, professor at the Department of Environment, Land and Infrastructure Engineering of Politecnico di Torino. ART. 2 Training objectives, learning contents and organization of the activities The purpose of the programme is to provide young graduates with a sound technical and managerial knowledge so that they can specialize in the oil&gas industry. The 2nd level Specializing Master is a full time programme of one academic year duration for a total of 80 ECTS; it will start in October 2017 and end in October 2018. Lectures will be held in English at Politecnico di Torino premises – starting in October 2017 and ending in July 2018. An internship period at Eni in San Donato Milanese (MI) will follow. The teaching programme includes 9 months of classroom activities with academic and corporate teaching staff and it is organized as follows: common courses: 30 weeks of classroom lectures, valid for all students sectorial courses (Reservoir&Drilling and Production&Logistics): 8 weeks of classroom lectures (see table n. 1) internships: on the job training lasting 12 weeks at Eni premises. Scuola di Master e Formazione Permanente ART. 3 Admissions requirements The 2nd level Specializing Masters Programme is intended for Italian and foreign citizens aged not older than 27 years on December 31st, 2017 - who graduated from: Table n.2 Italian Universities non-Italian Universities Master’s degree obtained in one of the following degree Master’s degree* (or equivalent or higher academic classes (“classi di laurea”): qualification) obtained in one of the following areas of study with at least 5 years of university education: Aerospace and Astronautical Engineering (LM 20) Aerospace and Astronautical Engineering Chemical Engineering (LM 22) Chemical Engineering Civil Engineering (LM 23) Civil Engineering Energy and Nuclear Engineering (LM 30) Energy and Nuclear Engineering Mechanical Engineering (LM 33) Mechanical Engineering Environmental Engineering (LM 35) Environmental Engineering Mathematical-Physics Modelling for Engineering (LM 44) Petroleum Engineering Naval Engineering (LM 34) Mining Engineering Materials Science and Engineering (LM 53) Naval Engineering Geological Sciences and Technologies (LM 74) Geosciences Geophysical Sciences (LM 79) Geology and Geophysics Physics (LM 17) Physics *to be admitted to the Specializing Masters Programme, candidates who have a 4-year Bachelor’s degree must also possess a Master’s degree obtained within the deadline indicated below. Master’s degree minimum final grade: 100/110 or Master’s degree (or equivalent) minimum final equivalent; grade: The final grade must be included among the top 20% of the best students who graduated in the same academic year and in the same degree programme; Italian citizens: Master’s degree (or equivalent) obtained Italian citizens: Master’s degree (or equivalent) by July 31st, 2017; obtained by July 31st, 2017; non-Italian citizens: Master’s degree (or equivalent) non-Italian citizens: Master’s degree (or equivalent) obtained by May 8th, 2017; obtained by May 8th, 2017; Given that selection procedures are different for Italian and foreign candidates, in case of dual citizenship (foreign and Italian), applicants will be considered as Italian or foreign candidates on the basis of their residence (declared in the on-line application form). All candidates must prove to have a good knowledge of the English language, which must be certified by a language certificate included in the list of accepted certificates (see Table n.3 - English language certificates at the end of this article in order to know the required level and accepted certificates). Candidates who have a Bachelor's degree or a Master’s degree from a University where English is the medium of instruction do not need to submit these certificates. In this case the University must issue a transcript of records which also states that “The medium of instruction is English”. Participants will be divided as follows: Degree Italian citizenship non-Italian citizenship Engineering and Physics 34 2 Geology/Geophysics 4 - Applications for the Specializing Masters Programme must be completed on-line by filling out the application form available on Politecnico di Torino website at: https://didattica.polito.it/master/petroleum/2018/howtoapply Application forms must be submitted within the following deadlines: May 16th, 2017 at 11:59 a.m. - Italian time (deadline for candidates who are foreign citizens) September 7th, 2017 at 11:59 a.m. - Italian time (deadline for candidates who are Italian citizens) Different deadlines have been set for Italian and foreign citizens due to the fact that foreign candidates need extra time in order to obtain an Italian entry visa for study purposes. Scuola di Master e Formazione Permanente Candidates are also required to complete the application with compulsory registration on eni.com website (Careers>Job Opportunities section); during the registration candidates have to choose the following code: MSTTO2017. ALL the following supporting documents must be attached to the application form on Politecnico di Torino website (in English or Italian only): 1. valid identification document (passport for extra-EU applicants) 2. curriculum vitae (cv must include the authorization to the processing of personal data – in compliance with Legislative Decree no. 196/2003); 3. English certificate (see table n. 3 “English language certificates”, art. 3); 4. list of exams of both Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes: for applicants with degree(s) obtained from a non-Italian University or from a private Italian University: official transcript(s), issued by the University of origin, produced on headed paper, containing the full list of all the exams passed and the grades obtained. The transcript(s) must also include the date of the degree conferral. The Master’s transcript must show evidence that the applicant’s final grade is included among the top 20% best students who graduated in the same academic year and in the same degree programme. Upon enrolment, the admitted candidates must submit the original copy of the “Dichiarazione di Valore”/”Statement of validity” (related to the Master’s degree) issued by the Italian Diplomatic Mission in the country where the qualification was awarded. If the Master’s degree was awarded by a European University, admitted candidates can turn in the “Diploma Supplement” instead of the “Dichiarazione di Valore”. or for applicants with degree(s) obtained from an Italian Public University: self-certification (“dichiarazione sostitutiva di certificazione” - Art. 46 DPR 28 December 2000, n. 445) in which applicants declare to have obtained both a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degrees. The self-certification must include: the name of degree, the name of the University, the date of degree conferral and the graduation final grade, the full list of all the exams passed and the grades obtained (this information is required for both degrees). In compliance with art. 75 of D.P.R. 445/2000, should the self-certification be found to be false or incorrect, the applicant loses any benefit which he/she might have acquired on the basis of the untruthful declaration. 5. Admission Request Form (available on the webpage of the Specializing Masters Programme https://didattica.polito.it/master/petroleum/2018/howtoapply) Failure to attach even one of the above mandatory documents will result in the exclusion from the selection process. In order to be admitted to this Specializing Masters Programme, applicants have to pass 3 different selection steps. The final decision is taken by the Selection Committee composed of representatives from Politecnico di Torino, Eni Corporate University and Eni. 1st step: pre-screening The Selection Committee will evaluate the applications on the basis of the documentation submitted. The Selection Committee will verify if the applicants meet the academic requirements and have the necessary qualifications and will select those admitted to the written test. 2nd step: written test Candidates who have passed the pre-screening step shall take a written test for the assessment of their technical knowledge. 3rd step: aptitude and technical assessment an aptitude assessment (test and interview) managed by Eni Corporate University Politecnico di Torino - Corso Duca degli Abruzzi, 24 – 10129 Torino – Italia master.universitari@polito.it https://didattica.polito.it/master/ Pag. 5 di 8
Scuola di Master e Formazione Permanente a technical assessment (interview) The final score will be defined as follows: 30% written test result 30% aptitude assessment result 30% technical assessment result 10% split among: o Bachelor’s degree final grade o number of years it took the student to graduate o knowledge of technical English (assessed by Eni Corporate University) FOR FOREIGN CANDIDATES: The written test, the technical and the aptitude assessment will be held in English. The Selection Committee will manage the examinations through a remote procedure. The written test will be held on May 29th, 2017. The technical and the aptitude assessment will be held from May 29th to June 1st, 2017. FOR ITALIAN CANDIDATES: The written test and the technical assessment will be held in front of the Selection Committee in English. The aptitude assessment will be held, in presence, in Italian. The written test will be held in Turin on September 19th, 2017 at Politecnico di Torino. The technical and the aptitude assessment will be held from September 25th to October 6th, 2017 at Eni Corporate University (San Donato Milanese - MI). Candidates who have passed the 1st step (pre-screening) of the selection will be informed by e-mail about the location and schedule of the examinations. The person responsible for the admissions administrative procedure is Mrs. Antonella Mina (Head of the Specializing Masters Programmes and Lifelong Learning Office at Politecnico di Torino). ART. 5 Enrolment Admitted candidates who accept the offer to participate in the programme will have to enrol at Politecnico di Torino by October 24th, 2017 (starting date of the Specializing Masters Programme). Upon enrolment, participants who hold a degree from a non-Italian University must submit the original copy of the “Dichiarazione di Valore”/”Statement of validity” (related to the Master’s degree) issued by the Italian Diplomatic Mission in the country where the qualification was awarded. If the Master’s degree was awarded by a European University, participants can turn in the “Diploma Supplement” instead of the “Dichiarazione di Valore”. Participants who are non-EU citizens and reside in Italy must submit a valid Italian residence permit. Participants who are non-EU citizens and reside abroad must submit an Italian VISA for study purposes “type – D”. ART. 6 Evaluation and qualification STUDENT OBLIGATIONS The Specializing Masters Programme requires the participants a full time commitment. Attendance to the activities is mandatory for at least 80% of the programme. Absences will be allowed up to a maximum of 20% of total classroom hours. Absences for more than 20% of total classroom hours will lead to exclusion from the Specializing Master Programme. Withdrawal from the programme must be put in writing. For the purpose of obtaining the Specializing Master’s degree, the Technical Scientific Committee will also evaluate the student participation in the activities and the appropriateness of his/her behaviour. Participation will be subject to performance evaluation throughout the programme. Participants who fail exams for 20 ECTS or more will be excluded from the programme. Detailed rules about the exams will be provided during the opening day. Scuola di Master e Formazione Permanente It is not possible to be enrolled in a Specializing Masters Programme and in another University programme at the same time. EVALUATION METHOD For each course participants will have to take an exam consisting in a written evaluation test. At the end of the programme the final presentation (dissertation of the thesis prepared during the internship) will allow to assess the student’s skills. QUALIFICATION After completing the programme, participants who have regularly attended the activities and reached the total amount of 80 ECTS required for graduation, will be awarded the "Petroleum Engineering and Operations" 2nd level Specializing Master’s degree by Politecnico di Torino. The diploma will be issued in Italian. ART. 7 Tuition and enrolment fee The tuition is 5.000,00 Euro (five thousand/00) + an enrolment fee: the total amount shall be paid to Politecnico di Torino according to the following installments: Foreign citizens: - 1.000,00 Euro within the deadline which will be defined by Politecnico for participants to accept the offer for the Specializing Masters Programme - 1.500,00 Euro at the time of enrolment + enrolment fee - 2.500,00 Euro within March 2018 Italian citizens: - 2.500,00 Euro at the time of enrolment + enrolment fee - 2.500,00 Euro within March 2018 The tuition and the enrolment fee can be paid by wire transfer through the “Apply@Polito” platform. In case of withdrawal or exclusion from the programme the tuition and the enrolment fee won't be refunded by Politecnico di Torino under any circumstances. The programme will start only if the minimum number of participants required is reached. Participants will receive the scholarship installments directly from Eni Corporate University, as follows: for Italian citizens: a monthly scholarship of 700 Euro (seven hundred/00) gross, before taxes, as prescribed by Italian law; for non-Italian citizens: a monthly scholarship of 1,150 Euro (one thousand, one hundred fifty/00) gross, before taxes, as prescribed by Italian law. Participants who reside in the province of Turin will receive the scholarship only during the internship period. Scuola di Master e Formazione Permanente if a recipient withdraws from the Specializing Masters Programme without due cause which will be judged at incontestable discretion of a Board composed of Eni and Eni Corporate University members; if a recipient is excluded from the programme due to low academic performance or absences exceeding the allowed limit; if a recipient does not accept the recruitment offer made by Eni within 90 days from completion of the programme. BONUS After completion of the programme, Eni will have the option to offer a reimbursement (before taxes, as prescribed by Italian law) to all the participants hired by Eni as follows: full fee reimbursement to those who graduated from the Specializing Master Programme with an average grade equal or greater than 27⁄30; this bonus will be reimbursed in two installments, the first upon recruitment and the second 6 months later. 50% fee reimbursement to all the other graduates; this bonus will be reimbursed upon recruitment. The bonus shall be refunded in full by the employee in case of resignation within 24 months from the date of recruitment. ART. 9 Privacy policy and access to documents The information provided for in Article 13 of the "Code regarding the protection of personal data" (Legislative Decree No. 196 of 30th June 2003) is available at: https://didattica.polito.it/privacy/. The personal data included in the on-line application form are treated for the selection and enrolment process only; the data are used by Politecnico di Torino within the institution itself, and exclusively for the purposes of the institution: for this reason, personal data are shared with various offices within the University (to carry out the activities within their competence) without further notification to the applicants. The personal data included in the on-line application form are also forwarded to Eni Corporate University by Politecnico di Torino for selection purposes. Owner of the database is Politecnico di Torino, represented by the Rector, with legal seat in Corso Duca degli Abruzzi, 24-10129 Torino. The person in charge of the student data is the Head of the Division of the Division of Student Affairs. Access to all documents is allowed in the forms provided for by current Legislation. ART. 10 Final provisions 1. Communication with candidates will take place primarily through the “Apply@Polito” platform. Specific communications might be sent via email or SMS using the contact details provided by candidates during registration on the platform. 2. Politecnico does not take any responsibility in case of unavailability of recipients and for loss of communications due to inexact indication of a candidate's email address or telephone number or due to delay or failure to notify changes to the contacts provided during registration. 3.
