3.0 INTRODUCTION 3.1 Why Gymnastics? Gymnastics is a sport for everyBODY, regardless of age, gender or ability. It is the perfect activity to prepare children for long-term participation in sport and also develops vital life skills. Gymnastics provides many benefits to children’s growth and development. The package of benefits offered by gymnastics participation can enrich and physically educate the lives of its participants in ways that are difficult to achieve through most other activities and sports (Sands, 2003). Participation in gymnastics should be recommended as a positive foundational activity for school-aged children. 3.2 Why Brisbane City Gymnastics Club? At BCGC, we aim to inspire each gymnast to reach their individual potential, in a positive, encouraging and family friendly environment. We pride ourselves in offering the highest quality coaching in a variety of gymnastics disciplines including, but not limited to acrobatics gymnastics, women’s artistic gymnastics and the highly desired newest program of Gymnastics Australia - FreeG adopted from British Gymnastics. Continually motivating gymnasts to work to the best of their ability, we place an emphasis on nurturing the personality of each individual through sport, while still developing the more demanding technical and aesthetic aspects of gymnastics.
