It all started on a small family farm in Lindsay, Texas. There, Brad Metzler learned the lessons and values he lives and works
by today. Working hard was the family tradition, but so was a love of the outdoors. Brad learned early on that the sooner he
completed his chores, the sooner he could get down to the pond. There, he would spend his afternoons staring intently at a
bouncing cork, anticipating its departure from the surface. The last fish caught was always the biggest, and his mom never
doubted his fishing tales because they were told while the fish was still attached to the pole. In his opinion, Sundays were
the best; he’d wake early before church to catch the required jar of grasshoppers or can of worms to be used later in the day
as he, his dad, and grandpa spent the afternoons angling for whatever was biting that day.
Intent on finding a way to share his passion and help others experience
the joy of family time spent in the outdoors, Brad attended Texas A & M
University and graduated with a degree in Wildlife & Fisheries Sciences.
Immediately following graduation, he began to investigate opportunities
that would afford him the opportunity to pass on his love of the outdoors
with his family, and his love of family with other people.
In 1995, while starting his own family, he also started Pond King, offering

Always remembering what his parents taught him about the value of hard work and doing things right, Brad expanded
Pond King by constantly innovating better solutions to the problems he saw in the field or in the manufacturing
process. As customer’s needs changed, so did Pond King’s product offerings. Docks were constructed so customers
could get out on the water with their families. Turtle traps were built to help keep growing fisheries safe from predation.
Automatic fish feeders were designed to help grow trophy-class fish. Artificial habitat was developed to facilitate
baitfish production. Small and mini pontoon boats were added as another alternative to help people enjoy their ponds
or lakes even more. He even added a retail tackle store, Lake Pro Tackle, to provide a place where local fishermen
could shop and get quality lures they couldn’t find anywhere else!
Twenty-five years later, we continue to offer pond management services as well as manufacture a wide variety of
products for your pond or lake, but our focus remains the same: enhancing your outdoor experience to help create
memories that will last a lifetime.

manufactured pontoons for our boats, but to ensure the optimal buoyancy, we opt to roll
and weld all our pontoons here in our own shop. We could trust an outside machine-shop,
but instead, we hand-build all of our individual small-fab components to guarantee the
structural integrity of our boats and docks. We could outsource delivery and installation,

Honoring men and women of
the U.S. Military
For the past 24 years, Pond King has had the privilege of manufacturing Texas-tough,
American-made products designed to help people enjoy the freedoms of our country and
of the great outdoors. We believe that the U.S. Military plays a significant role in protecting
those freedoms. As we prepared for our 25th Anniversary, we decided we wanted to do
something to show our appreciation for the sacrifices our military men and women make
for our country.
Our Inspiration
When we launched our 25th Anniversary special boat, the Patriot, we were contacted by
Navy Veteran, Dr. David Terhune. David was interested in getting a boat for his dad, WWII
Veteran, Navy Combat Crewman Daniel Webster Terhune. The two are incredibly close
and enjoy fishing together, so David wanted a boat that would be stable for his dad. He
was looking for something that would fit that bill when he found the Pond King Patriot.
The idea that a WWII veteran would be fishing from our Patriot really struck a chord with

Hersch nearly didn’t make it home from his final combat deployment. His flight was diverted into
AIR FORCE Pakistani airspace, where they flew into a lightning storm causing the jet to drop 3,000 ft. in a
second. He feels lucky to be alive. Hersch & his dad still fish together, volunteering for Live Well
Major Thomas Hersch Go Fish - a nonprofit organization helping vets.
Dieter’s time in the military is special because he gives up time with his wife and 5 kids
ARMY to serve our country. He has served for 10 years already and plans on continuing. Dieter
loves the outdoors so his family entered him because they thought Chad would truly

Jergons served on the USCGC STORIS in Kodiak, AK as an Independent Duty Corpsman and
COAST GUARD was a part of the Decommissioning crew. She and her sister are both disabled veterans but
still enjoy fishing. Her sister had a bigger boat but had to sell it because it was too much to

Metzger was deployed twice to Iraq and once to Afghanistan. His other “non-combat”
MARINES deployments include Thailand, Okinawa, and Korea but his wife and family believe the
courage he brings to life after the military is what they find so inspirational. You see, his son
was diagnosed with a heart condition which severely limits his life expectancy. Yet Metzger,
Sgt Jonathan Metzger
who is 100% disabled from service-related injuries, never gives up and never gives in.
NAVY
Bauman served as a Seabee in the Korean War, building landing strips on Yodo Island. Nominated
multiple times, it is clear Bauman is an inspiration. After leaving the navy, Bauman became a teacher
and is credited with mentoring countless youth throughout his career. He lost both of his lower legs
