A S PECIAL W ELCOME TO OUR G UESTS
We are glad you have joined us for worship this morning. We are a caring community
of friends who come from a variety of backgrounds to seek God in this place. We are
united by our faith in Christ, our love of learning, our appreciation of music and
worship, our passion for service and our desire to deepen our spiritual lives. We
believe you will find Bradley Hills a safe place to ask the deep questions of life and a
community that embraces each spiritual journey. Bradley Hills is a welcoming witness
to the love of Jesus Christ. We believe that diversity in our membership – different
ages, genders, ethnicities, abilities, races, sexual orientations, ideological and
theological beliefs and experiences - is an important strength. We come from across
the nation, from different denominational backgrounds and from around the world.
We are all God’s children, united by God’s love. Our history is connected to the care
and nurture of children and to our supporting each other as we seek God. We
encourage you to explore our bulletin and website, to include your email on the
fellowship pads and to take home a welcome folder found just outside the Sanctuary.
We hope we have a chance to greet you following worship or that you’ll contact us.
 Many blessings,
Pastor David, the BHPC Staff, and Congregation
 David@bradleyhillschurch.org

PRAYER OF ADORATION AND CONFESSION
Holy God, hear our prayer: For the mending of our hearts, torn apart by our
    unkindness; For the healing of our souls, wasting away from the despair around us;
For the forgiveness we seek for the sin we have allowed to persist; For the
reconciliation of the world, whose divisions condemns us; We pray for the courage
to admit our fault, the strength to amend our actions, and the hope that your grace
awaits us. Through Christ we pray.

these questions, you’re not alone. We hope that you will join a Lenten Small

A MESSAGE FROM BHPC STEWARDSHIP
Last Sunday we installed a new class of elders and deacons. We celebrate and thank these
members who have volunteered their time and talents to make our church’s mission pos-
sible, along with those who continue to serve as elders and deacons and those who have
served in the past. Without the countless hours contributed by lay ministry members,
Sunday School teachers, ushers, choir members, and many other members and friends in
one or more roles, Bradley Hills simply could not exist. Thank you for all you do to sup-

M USIC N OTES
Though Olivier Messiaen was one of the 20th century’s most important composers
of organ music for the Catholic service--63 pieces, more than seven hours of music--
O Sacrum Convivium (“O Sacred Feast”) is his only vocal work specifically for the
church. It was composed early in 1937 and when the score was published later that
year by Durand, the title page indicated that the work had been commissioned by
Abbe F. Brun, a noted authority on Gregorian chant. Messiaen was organist at the
Trinite at that time, and the church’s choir almost certainly sang this motet soon after
it was written, but the first documented performance was in Messiaen’s arrangement
for solo voice an Dorgan at a concert of Les Amis d l’Orgue at the Trinite on Febru-
ary 17, 1938. It is an antiphon associated with the season of Easter, and the text is
attributed to St. Thomas Aquinas. It is especially applicable to the lessons of the
Road to Emmaus. Messiaen’s setting of this text is hushed and reverent, rising to an
expressive peak only when the text refers to ‘future glory.’
