Booker Arts Magnet School Improvement Plan PLAN Needs Assessment: Priorities: 1. Increase effective instructional practices through Booker Arts Magnet School’s Guiding Coalition reviewed the following data: collaboration, observation, and reflective feedback. Demographic Data (Student Attendance and Office Referrals) Perceptual Data (Staff, Parent, and Student Climate Surveys) 2. Improve student achievement in Reading and Student Learning Data (NWEA MAP Growth K-5 Fall, Winter, and Spring Assessments) Mathematics. and School Process Data (EdReflect Strength and Opportunities Observation Reports, 3. Increase student engagement through increasing Professional Development Agendas and Sign-In Sheets; and Collaborative Team time on task. The Guiding Coalition and parents worked collaboratively to create our Ready for Learning Plan and Parent’s Guide to the Ready for Learning Plan. Goals: 1. To increase the percentage of teachers receiving ratings of “Highly Effective” on TESS Indicators 1e (Designing Coherent Instruction), 2c (Managing Classroom Procedures), 3c (Engaging Students in Learning), and 4d (Participating in a Professional Community) by at least 20% as measured by administrative observations documented in EdReflect for the 2021-2022 school year. 2. To increase the percentage of kindergarten-fifth grade students performing at the Average, High Average, and High proficiency levels by at least 20% in Reading and Mathematics as measured by the 2021-2022 NWEA MAP Growth Fall, Winter, and Spring Assessments. 3. To increase student engagement as measured by at least a 10% reduction in the number of students receiving Office Referrals during the 2021-2022 school year. 4. To ensure that students, staff, and parents/guardians work collaboratively to provide a safe and nurturing academic and social/emotional learning environment as measured by a 20% reduction in the number of students who are chronically absent and/or are chronically tardy and a 10% increase in the number of parents/guardians participating in conferences in the 2021-2022 school year.ie 1

School Data: An analysis of the formal and informal observation results from the 2020-2021 school year, indicated that 7% of teachers received a rating of “Highly Effective” on TESS Indicator 1e (Designing Coherent Instruction); 18% of teachers received a rating of “Highly Effective” on TESS Indicator 2c (Managing Classroom Procedures); 9% of teachers received a rating of “Highly Effective” on TESS Indicator 3c (Engaging Students in Learning); and 14% of teachers received a rating of “Highly Effective” on TESS Indicator 4d (Participating in a Professional Learning Community). An analysis of the informal observation results from the first quarter of the 2021-2022 school year, indicated that 0% of observed teachers received a rating of “Highly Effective” on TESS Indicator 1e (Designing Coherent Instruction); 0% of observed teachers received a rating of “Highly Effective” on TESS Indicator 2c (Managing Classroom Procedures); 5% of observed teachers received a rating of “Highly Effective” on TESS Indicator 3c (Engaging Students in Learning); and 100% of observed teachers received a rating of “Highly Effective” on TESS Indicator 4d (Participating in a Professional Community). An Analysis of the NWEA Map Growth Fall K-2 Reading Fluency Screener results indicated that 65.3% (51 of 78) students were “flagged” by the Dyslexia Screener. An analysis of the NWEA Map Growth Fall K-5 Reading and Mathematics Assessment results indicated the following: 3

School Data: During the 2020-2021 school year, 32.8%% of kindergarten through fifth grade students (84 of 292) had unexcused absences of 10% or more. During the first quarter of the 2021-2022 school year, 28.5% of kindergarten through fifth grade students (68 of 239) had unexcused absences of 10% or more. During the 2020-2021 school year, 915 parent/guardian/teacher conferences were held. During the first quarter of the 2021-2022 school year, 235 parent/guardian/teacher conferences were held. Parent Climate Survey results from the 2020-2021 school year indicated that most respondents agreed with the following statements: The school is a safe place for my child to learn. Most parents are supportive of the school and its activities. My child looks forward to coming to school most days.
