FROM THE ASSESSOR’S OFFICE

                EXEMPTION NOTICE

A variety of exemptions and tax benefits are available to reduce
property tax obligations for certain qualified taxpayers.
Homeowners over the age of 65 or persons over the age of 18 and
who are totally disabled thru Social Security are eligible for an income based benefit
program. The application dates are February 1st to May 15th. The income limit for a
married couple is $45,800 and for a single person, the limit is $37,600.

Blind persons, veterans, disabled veterans, surviving spouses or widows of qualified
veterans and Social Security qualified disabled persons are eligible for exemptions.
Applications for these exemptions are taken from Feb 1 thru October 1st. Anyone
who has already applied for these exemptions need not reapply. Only the income
based programs need to be applied for every two years.

The programs that require income proof will need a copy of the IRS tax return filed
for the last calendar year, if one was filed, as well as statements of Social Security
or any other tax exempt income that was received, along with the application.

The basic qualifications for most additional local income based exemptions include:
receiving the initial corresponding State exemption, have CT residency, have title
ownership and reside at the real estate property (if the exemption will be applied to
real estate) as of the October 1st assessment date.

Due to COVID restrictions currently in place at Town Hall, further information on
applying will be available soon.

If you believe you may be eligible or would like further information regarding these
exemptions, please call the Assessor’s office at 860-623-8878.

COVID-19 VACCINE INFORMATION

             Covid-19 Vaccine Information
             Updated February 2, 2021
Vaccine appointments are currently available for individuals age 75
and older only. Other groups will be added soon.
             How to schedule an appointment:
1. Go to the website ct.gov/covidvaccine and click on “Individuals 75 and older.”
There is a box that says “If you are eligible, find a vaccination site.” Enter your zip
code and press go. This will bring you to 211ct.org and a list of local clinics by
distance from your zip code. Each site explains how to register with them. Some
sites are drive-through and others are indoors.
Note: Some sites have phone registration available but many are strictly through
their own system or through VAMS. See the additional information about VAMS for
a more detailed description of have to navigate this system.
2. If you need to schedule an appointment by phone only the telephone number is
877-918-2224. The phone line is open Monday – Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Call
volumes are high and you may need to request a call back. United Way recently
trained additional staff to help with these calls so the wait time has been reduced.
Please be patient.
3. If you would like to be placed on an on-call list, please call the Senior Center at
860-647-9196 and provide your name and phone number. Eastern Highlands
Health District will be notifying us of any last minute availability at their Mansfield
clinic. If you choose to be on this on-call list, you need to be willing and able to
get to Mansfield with as little as 30 minutes notice and must have access to your
email on a device like a cell phone or tablet.

                                Other Considerations

• Additional appointments will be added very soon so please be patient.
• You will be asked for your name, address, phone number, date of birth and
    insurance information.
• Insurance is only collected to bill the provider, there is NO cost to you.
• You will NOT be asked any financial information. If asked for this, HANG UP, it
    is a scam.
• If you need transportation, call Bolton Senior Center at 860-647-9196 as soon as
    you schedule your appointment.
• For frequently asked questions go to: https://portal.ct.gov/coronavirus/covid-
    19-vaccinations---faqs
BOLTON BULLETIN
                          February 5, 2021
All about the Vaccine Administration Management System, or VAMS
VAMS stands for Vaccine Administration Management System. It is a scheduling
tool for COVID-19 vaccine appointments. The system may be a bit challenging to
navigate at first – but with some support, most people are able to find and
schedule an appointment through VAMS.
The process
1. Fill out this form
First, you should know that this form does not automatically register you in VAMS.
This form lets the Department of Public health know you are interested in creating
an account in VAMS. If you are currently eligible to receive vaccine, you should
receive an email from VAMS to complete your registration within 12 hours.
NOTE: You need to have an email address for just you. If you try to enter an email
address that you share with a spouse, the system will know the email address has
already been used. Please do not use a relative’s email either, as they will not be
able to use it once they go to register. Enter your email address in all lower case
letters.
2. Check your email, and create your account.
Check your email for an email from no-reply@mail.vams.cdc.gov. Click on the link
in the email and create your account. You will be prompted to retrieve a code that
will be emailed to you. You will need to create a password – store this in a safe
place.
A note about passwords: The “forgot password” link on the login page can only be
used if you have created a password as part of your VAMS registration.
3. Complete your VAMS registration.
The first question that will be asked in VAMS is “Have you already registered as a
vaccine recipient with VAMS?” The answer to this question is “No.” This is critical
or you will have difficulty continuing correctly.
Questions with a red asterisk are mandatory. Insurance information does not need
to be entered. All information will be secure and will stored safely.

You will be prompted to share some additional information about yourself. Know
that all information will be secure and will stored safely.
NOTE: In order for VAMS to recognize your option chosen for Race, click on your
choice in the box on the left and click the right pointing arrow to move your choice
to the box on the right.

At one point you will be emailed an authorization code as a security measure.
Please be aware this code is only active for one hour.
4. Schedule your appointment at your chosen vaccine clinic
BOLTON BULLETIN
                          February 5, 2021
You will use your zip code to search for clinics near you in VAMS. The system will
automatically search for clinics within a 10-mile radius of your zip code. However,
you may choose up to 100 miles from the dropdown menu. Choosing a larger
search area may result in more clinic locations in your search results. You may
need to check multiple clinic locations in order to find an available appointment.
Find a slot that works for you, and book your appointment.
