launched. The book was released
in an event held at a homeless
shelter in the city of Charlotte,
North Carolina, US. The 84-page
book compiles the incidents in
the Bhutanese refugee camp,
resettlement and post-resettlement
conditions as reported by Gadtoula
from Nepal, the UK, and the
USA. Releasing the book, senior
Bhutanese Furwa Lama said, “the
book retraces the troubled two
decades spent in Nepal's refugee
camps.” Lama recalled being

Our Appeal
I n an attempt to promote Love and Support Foundation as a charitable organization, the
goodwill, encouragement and support received from resettled Bhutanese community
in various parts of the world and Nepalese communities have doubled our enthusiasm.
At the same time, we feel, the responsibility has been added. We realize, philanthropy is
an onerous social responsibility. A person's individual courage and effort is not enough
to sustain it. This requires participation and cooperation.
On 28th November 2019, the foundation hosted a dinner program for more than 260
people who have taken shelter in Men's Shelter of Charlotte, North Carolina. Bhutanese
and Nepali community-dwelling in Charlotte made their direct contribution to the
occasion. Earlier, we had organized an event to honor eminent personalities from the
socio-cultural and music sector. Along with the charming performance of famous Nepali
lyricist Buddhabir Lama and singer Satyakala Rai, we hosted Dashain Tihar greetings
program. We also have taken the responsibility of providing education to underprivileged
children in Nepal and India. Likewise, we have signed an agreement to provide annual
monetary help to Ghansi Nepal organization in Kathmandu, Nepal. Last July, we handed
over Rupees 50,000 for the first time. We also sponsored the cultural-cum-picnic program
for senior citizens in Charlotte and a tour for children.
We have plans for several such charitable activities. We would be needing good wishes
and support from each one of you. We, the Bhutanese community, lived a miserable life
without any kind of support for two decades before we were resettled in the US. We
lagged every kind of socioeconomic privilege. We didn’t have proper access to food,
water, and medicine. We were on the brink of famine. The situation is better now. We
appeal for charitable contributions from you for the sake of troubled past.
We are pleased to share that Love and Support Foundation is all set to start its quarterly
publication. We expect articles from scholars, writers, poets, thinkers and all of you for
the same. Also, the foundation is starting an online radio program ‘Aahwan’ from January
2020. The show will be of 30 minutes every month which features the activities of the
foundation and other infotainment stuff.

his brawn and brain to the highest bidders but never to put a price-tag on his heart and soul.
Teach him to close his ears to a howling mob and to stand and fight if he thinks he’s right.
Treat him gently, but do not cuddle him, because only the test of fire makes fine steel. Let
him have the courage to be impatient… let him have the patience to be brave.
Teach him always to have sublime faith in himself, because then he will
have sublime faith in mankind. This is a big order, but see what you can do…

Path Parayan
L ast August, on the occasion of Teej (major
festival of Nepalese women), Love and
Support Foundation organized Ramayan Path
Parayan in Triad city, North Carolina. Pundit
Indra Subedi, Yadu Mishra and Mahesh Dhakal
delivered Path at the event. Foundation’s Triad
