POTENTATES MESSAGE DAVID LAGALA Greetings Nobles and Ladies, Graduation season is upon us, and I am sure many of you are looking forward to attending the ceremonies of your kids or grandchildren. Congratulations to all 2022 graduates. What a great month we had in May with so many activities and fun times. With summer just around the corner in June we can expect more Shrine events such as stated meetings, special events and parades. Please join us and wear your Fez proudly at the many events coming up in the next few months. You can access the calendar through the Ben Ali phone app and the Ben Ali Website. But just to give you a glimpse of what is to come, our first command parade is June 5th in Sutter Creek to celebrate the Italian Festival. Our spring ceremonial on June 11th is a time to come and welcome our new nobles to the Shrine. On June 18th is San Joaquin’s Fizz Breakfast, if interested you can contact President, Brian Kass at (209) 479-1535 and….wait for it….The Barn Dance is here! Join us in the Wrecking Crew Barn for a BBQ, western dancing, fun and fellowship. This is a fundraiser for the First Lady’s project to support nursing education. Tickets are on sale now! We are having a special stated meeting this month. Ben Ali was established in June 1922. It is this month in 2022 that Ben Ali turns 100 years old. Join us for our birthday celebration at the June stated meeting where we will play games, learn some trivia, and have a spectacular time celebrating our temples first centennial. Thank you to the nobles and ladies who have worked so hard to make a successful start to the year. Last month was no different. Our bar crew did a wonderful job attending bar, our aides and other volunteers continue to amaze us with all they do. But not everything has been fun and games. So, what is happening at your Temple? We have had several repair projects, such as fencing and irrigation projects, the doors to the activity center will be replaced with new custom security doors. The rolling door to the back of the barn has been replaced and several locks have been updated with more modern technology. Your Temple is at work for you, but the work has not been completed. We will continue to evaluate the state of our facilities and perform necessary maintenance and repairs as needed. This has been a transition year following the retirement of our recorder and change in office staff. A big Thanks to Lew and Kathy as they continue to offer support to our temple. Although this has been a challenging time, and the shoes have been hard to fill, it has provided us an opportunity to learn and grow. We will continue to evaluate Ben Ali’s operating policies and procedures and modernize the way we conduct business. Through evaluation and change, we will see another 100 years of Ben Ali doing its fabulous work for the kids. Although this has been a lot of work, it has also been fun. As we reach mid-year, Deedie and I and the 2022 team look forward to an amazing second half as we move through summer and into fall. Stay cool and we hope to see you at the many events coming in June and the months ahead. Fraternally and Sincerely, David Lagala, Potentate Ben Ali Shrine 2022 © 2022 Ben Ali Shrine All rights reserved. June/July 2022
A MESSAGE FROM THE FIRST LADY DEEDIE LAGALA Dear Nobles and Ladies~ Thank you to those who attended our May Stated Meeting honoring our Shrine nurses. A MESSAGE FROM OUR DIRECTOR GENERAL Greetings Everyone from the Director General, Here we go barreling towards Parade Season!! We are having our first Command Parade on Sunday, June 5, 2022 in Sutter Creek for the Italian Picnic Pa- rade! This is one of my favorite parades as Sutter Creek is a beautiful location and there is a lot of commu- nity support. A Command Parade is one which the Potentate designates that all Clubs and Units should participate. In other words, dust off those uniforms, clean up the parade vehicles and lets get ready to have a good time! The Potentate has also added a new Command Parade to the schedule. The Intermountain Parade in Fall River Mills has been added to the list of parades this year. For those of you that do not know Fall River Mills is a small town in Northern California that hosts a great time on Labor Day Weekend. The parade is on Sunday, September 4, 2022; but I would recommend that everyone plan on arriving on Saturday, Sep- tember 3, 2022. You can enjoy a great BBQ hosted by the Northern California Shrine Club and the Inter- mountain Fair. Hotel Space is limited so make your arrangements Today! Here is the information for the two (2) Motels in town. Himont Motel Fall River Hotel 43021 Bridge Street 24860 Main Street Fall River Mills Fall River Mills (530) 336-5541 (530) 336-5550 Here is the current parade schedule: Saturday, May 28, 2022 Vacaville, CA Vacaville Fiesta Days Parade (Non-Command) Sunday, June 5, 2022 Sutter Creek, CA Sutter Creek Italian Picnic Parade (Command) Saturday, June 25, 2022 Historic Folsom, CA Historic Hometown Parade (Non-Command) Sunday, September 4, 2022 Fall River Mills, CA Intermountain Fair Parade (Command) Sunday, September 18, 2022 Nevada City, CA Constitution Day Parade (Command) Friday, November 11, 2022 Folsom, CA Veterans Day Parade (Command) December 11, 2022 Woodland, CA Holiday Parade (Command) Parades are one of the best ways to promote ourselves in a positive way, and is the best form of advertising the Greatest Charity in the World. We show time and time again that is all about the kids! We’ll see you soon on the Parade Route! Roger Moore Director General © 2022 Ben Ali Shrine All rights reserved. June/July 2022
