KCR E P G AL A 2 0 2 1 As a patron of the performing arts and having lived through the pain WELCOME and uncertainty of the pandemic, Sheryl and I felt a responsibility to help the organization navigate through these uncertain times. While our corporate, foundation, and individual benefactors have been instrumental in helping us maintain our presence in the community, the gala has always been the way the organization can give something back to the community, which is what enticed us to take a leadership position. As a board member and treasurer of KCRep and having been involved in numerous civic and philanthropic ventures within our community, I understand the power and importance of the performing arts. KCRep’s ability to address the relevant issues of the day, nurture and expose up and coming talent, and transform audiences with both classic tales or new works, all add to the depth of our community and our ability to retain and attract people from other areas of the country. I firmly believe that the performing arts are a window into the soul of a community, and we should be very proud of the contributions that KCRep is making within Kansas City. While virtual, we could all use some fun, excitement, and entertainment in what has become our routine workweek lives. We promise you will not be disappointed during the program tonight and look forward to visiting with you in the chat room. Thank you for supporting KCRep during this critical time. — Andrew and Sheryl Kaplan 2021 Gala Chairs
