Alecto Forensics: Training Excellence Alecto Forensics is an internationally recognised forensic services and training provider, widely regarded as the market leader for delivering Crime Scene Investigation courses. We offer a wide range of CSI and associated courses and are happy to discuss bespoke training needs. Breadth of Training Services We conduct comprehensive training for CSI Stages 1 and 2, Crime Scene Management, and Continuing Professional Development for police professionals and bespoke forensic training solutions to forensic scientists and police forces in both the domestic and international arenas. Additionally, we provide proficiency testing for UK police forces and ISO 17020 quality support. Pre-course briefing packs will be provided where appropriate, with courses delivered through a variety of different learning methods such as lectures, interactive classroom discussions, written assessments and indoor and outdoor practical exercises. Participants will receive a comprehensive folio of training materials for the practical aspects of the teaching, and a certificate will be awarded upon satisfactory completion of the courses. Summer/Autumn Training £5400 // 6 weeks CSI Initial / CSI Stage 1 27th September – 5th November 2021, 28th February – 8st April 2022, 6th June – 15th July 2022, 3rd October – 11th November 2022 This course is designed to provide foundation learning and skills development for CSIs appointed to VCSI/Level 1 positions. It is appropriate for new appointees with no prior experience in this role. The course will introduce ethical and behavioural best practice as well as providing foundational inputs to core competency areas, including photography (record and evidential), scene approach, static and dynamic risk assessment, DNA, trace evidence, footwear and tyre marks and fingerprint development with powders and enhancement techniques. In addition, specialist imaging techniques are discussed and their use in court New and existing practical skills will be further addressed through a final courtroom exercise. £2700 // 3 weeks 6th September – 24th September 2021 Fully booked, CSI Conversion / CSI Stage 2 24th January – 11th February 2022, 9th May– 27th May 2022, 5th September 2022 – 23rd September 2022 This course is designed to build upon the formal foundation training gained by CSIs during VCSI or Stage 1 initial training courses and utilises the professional experienced gained in related roles. The course will provide a rapid refreshment on best practice approaches to basic evidence recovery before addressing more advanced issues of wider scene logistics and management. Multiple aspects of crime scene investigation, including intelligence gathering, assessment and dissemination will be covered in detail. It will provide non assessed awareness inputs on firearms, fire scenes, drugs and disciplines within niche evidence types. The course specifically covers the more serious major crime scenes in depth, including murder and unexplained death, decomposition and post mortems, sudden infant death and sexual offences. Specialist techniques and disciplines will be further addressed in a scenario based linked final exercise and an assessed written paper which will explore forensic strategies and evidence recovery plans.
£1800 // 2 weeks 22nd November - 3rd of December 2021 - Fully booked, CSM 25th of April – 6th May (9 day due to Bank hol), 21st November – 2nd December 2022 This course is designed to provide advanced skills, major scene awareness and strategic decision-making tools to develop new Crime Scene Managers. It is suitable for experienced CSIs undertaking Crime Scene Management duties. It will provide an introduction to the role of CSM and the structure of the major incident investigation, in-depth sessions on the production of major crime logs, the direction of CSI staff on scenes, and the deployment and management of forensic scientists. This learning is then tested and applied through an innovative three-day immersive scenario of linked crime scenes. On Demand and Bespoke Training In addition to our CSI and CSM courses we offer a number of complementary courses aimed at police professionals and forensic scientists including the following: CPD Refresher Training Tailored We offer Continual Professional Development courses to police professionals that deal with crime scene investigation. Our CPD courses can be tailored to suit your requirements. Forensic Anthropology 3 Days This course is aimed at crime scene investigators, managers, and other related police professionals. It provides a comprehensive overview of forensic anthropology and archaeology and their contribution to major crime and missing person investigations. Police Search Advisor/Licensed Search Officers & Forensic Evidence search dogs 3-4 Days This course is aimed at police search advisors, licensed search officers, and forensic evidence search dogs and other related professionals. It provides an overview of forensic anthropology, archaeology and comparative anatomy (human vs. non-human bone identification), together with search, location and clandestine grave excavation and recovery techniques that are utilised within major crime, disaster victim identification, and missing persons investigations. 3 Days Search and Location This course is aimed at crime scene investigators, managers, police search advisors, search officers, forensic evidence search dogs, and other related professionals. It looks at the range of search, location, reconnaissance, and clandestine grave excavation and recovery techniques that can be utilised within major crime and missing person investigations.
Forensic Ecology Awareness 1 Day This course is aimed at forensic submission case workers, police officers, and other related professionals. It provides a comprehensive overview of the range of forensic ecology evidence types – explaining what they are, current best practice for optimal recovery, and how they can be utilised within a major crime investigation. Ecology Awareness For the Legal Profession 1 Day This course is aimed at members of the legal profession. It provides a comprehensive overview of the full range of ecology evidence types – explaining what they are, how they can be utilised within a criminal investigation, and how different evidence types may assist with interpretation. Forensic Footwear Enhancement 3 Days This course is aimed at forensic scientists, crime scene investigators, managers, and other related police professionals. It provides a comprehensive overview of the techniques available to enhance footwear marks both at a scene or in the laboratory. Forensic Glass Examinations 5 Days This course is aimed at forensic scientists and assistants. It provides a comprehensive overview of the value of glass examinations and their contribution to criminal investigations. Tyre Marks Examinations 3 Days This course is aimed at forensic scientists, crime scene investigators, managers, and other related police professionals. It aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the importance and value of tyre tread examinations. It also introduces delegates to the complex manufacture of tyres and their characteristics, which can provide valuable evidence to major crime investigations. Forensic Garment Analysis 1 Day This course is aimed at forensic submission officers, police officers, crime scene investigators, and other related police professionals. It provides a comprehensive overview of forensic garment analysis and what it can contribute to major crime investigators.
