HEE-NIHR Integrated Clinical Academic Programme Internship & Bridging Awards Opens in Spring Information about last year’s call (2020) is 2021….. available on PenARC webpages. https://www.arc-swp.nihr.ac.uk/training Internship: For individuals early in their clinical academic career, thinking about doing postgraduate academic study at master’s level and beyond, and applying for the NIHR Pre-clinical academic Fellowship award (PCAF). Pre-doctoral: For individuals who have plans to develop a doctoral fellowship for NIHR Clinical Doctoral Fellowship (CDRF) or similar. Post-doctoral: For individuals to advance an independent post-doctoral research programme through a structured period of training and development.
HEE-NIHR Integrated Clinical Academic Programme Pre-doctoral Clinical Academic Fellowship (PCAF) Round 4: Expected to open late Jan (28th) Two distinct funding offers 1. Funding to support the submission of a doctoral fellowship application and to undertake a programme of academic training at Masters level 2. Funding to support submission of a doctoral fellowship application and to undertake a small amount of academic training at Masters level (PCAF Bridge) Success rate in 2019 ~ 48% Clinical Doctoral Research Fellowship (CDRF): Expected to open in Feb/March • Funding to undertake a PhD by research and further professional development and clinical practice. Success rate in 2019 ~ 30%

Research Project Funding
Professional Bodies/Charities Physiotherapy Research Foundation: • 4 schemes from £25,000 to £200,000 • Scheme B: grants of up to £25,00 for novice researchers • Novice paediatric awards (as above) for research related to paediatric non-acquired brain injury and paediatric cerebral palsy • Annual call: usually March deadline SPARKS: • National funding call, open to independent researchers/promising early career researchers • Focus on complex or rare diseases in 20/21
Local NHS Trusts Some trusts have funding awards to support small research projects (pump-prime funding) to generate information to inform a further grant application Research Capability Funding (RCF) Contact your local Research and Innovation Dept to find out about available support
