APRIL – JUNE SCHEDULE OF EVENTS FOLK ART EXHIBIT FEATURING BRIAN BOHANAN Where: Creative Arts Center and Gallery The Prattauga Art Guild will host a free exhibit March 3 - April 10 featuring work by Alabama Folk Artist Brian Bohanan. The exhibit is open to the public, and gallery hours are Fridays and Saturdays 10am-2pm and Sundays 1pm-4pm. The exhibit will be located at the Creative Arts Center, 342 S. Chestnut St. WAY OFF BROADWAY THEATRE PRESENTS PROOF, BY DAVID AUBURN When: March 31 - April 16 Where: Way Off Broadway Theatre in the Cultural Arts Center Cost: $10 in advance/$12 at the door (if available) Runs weekends through April 16. WILSON PICKETT MUSIC AND ARTS FESTIVAL When: April 2, 9am-9pm; Where: Pratt Park The Wilson Pickett Music and Arts Festival will return to Pratt Park on April 2nd! The entertainment stage will be grooving from 10am until 9pm, featuring Wesley Dennis, the John Bull Band, the Alex Walker Band, Al Jahara and the Good Vibez, and more. Shop the artist village from 10am until 5pm, and bring the kids because there will be fun for the whole family. You can join in on the fun virtually too! Summer workouts begin July 18 EDDIE FLOYD MEMORABILIA EXHIBIT When: April 15 - May 29 Where: Creative Arts Center and Gallery The Creative Arts Center and Gallery will host a free exhibit of Eddie Floyd and other Alabama Music memorabilia from April 15-May 29. This exhibit includes photographs, awards, and other memorabilia courtesy of Mr. Eddie Floyd. The gallery is open Fridays and Saturdays 10am-2pm and Sundays 1-4pm.
STEAM WORKSHOP When: April 16 Where: Prattville Creative Arts Center Cost: $5 per child The Prattville Creative Arts Center will host a STEAM workshop for youth ages 7-12 years old. Students will enjoy a fun and educational project with instructor Brittany Glenn. Two class times to choose from, 9-10:30am OR 11:00am-12:30pm. ARTIST MARKET DAY When: April 16 Where: Prattville Creative Arts Center in the Art Garden Artwork by local and regional artists will be on display in the beautiful art garden adjacent to the Prattville Creative Arts Center on South Chestnut Street, next to the Autauga Creekwalk from 10am-2pm. YOUTH ART SHOW When: Submission of artwork on Friday, April 22, from 3-6pm, and Saturday, April 23, from 10am-2pm; Exhibit opens May 1 Where: Prattville Creative Arts Center Cost: $3 entry fee for each piece of artwork entered The Prattauga Art Guild will host its Annual Youth Art Show in May at the Prattville Creative Arts Center and Gallery. Youth in grades K-12 who live, go to school, or take art lessons in Autauga County are eligible to submit work to this show. Work will be taken in on Friday and Saturday, April 22 and 23, at the Creative Arts Center. SPLASHPAD SEASON OPENING When: May 1 Hours: 8am-8pm Cool off with our free splashpad, located in Pratt Park. The splashpad features a variety of water features and has proven to be a summer-time favorite over the years. Open 7 days a week. Closed during inclement weather. KIDS FISH FEST There is nothing more exciting than to see a childs face when they catch their first fish. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and use only one pole. 3 fish limit per child. You must provide your own fishing pole, tackle and bait. Date: Saturday, May 7 Times: 8am – 12noon Where: Pratt Park Pond Ages: Ages 4- 15 years old (must be accompanied by an adult) After event the pond will be closed to the public until Wednesday, May 25, at 3pm.
GIGANTIC FLEA MARKET Why not make a little extra money and do a little Spring cleaning and get rid of some no longer needed items? Guns, weapons, tobacco & alcohol CANNOT be sold. One booth per household. One booth per person. You must pre- register at the Doster Community Center. Limited space available. For more info call 595-0800. Booth rental: 12x15 booths $15.00; 10x10 booths $10.00 Registration begins March 25, for the May 14, Sale. (The set-up for the May 14 sale is Friday, May 13 from 1-7pm) Registration begins May 27, for the July 16, Sale. (The set-up for the July 16 sale is Friday, July 15 from 1-7pm) Where: Doster Community Center Sale Time: 6am – noon CRUISIN’ WITH THE TOP DOWN- PRATTVILLE CRUISE IN CAR SHOW When: May 15 Where: Heritage Park Downtown Convertibles of all makes and models will be featured at the Prattville Cruise In Car Show on May 15 in Downtown Prattville; however, other vehicles are welcome. There will be live music, great cars, and food vendors. There is no charge to enter a car, but the car must be registered prior to the event. For more information, contact the Special Events Office at 595-0850. DOG OBEDIENCE This is basic household obedience for dogs 4 months and up, taught by Instructor Kay Stevenson. First class bring your dog and its health records. Register at the Doster Community Center prior to class. (Class is 6 weeks) Dates: Mondays, May 16 – June 27; or July 11 - August 15 Time: 6:15pm – 7:15pm; Repeats: 7:30pm – 8:30pm Where: Doster Community Center Cost: $130 per dog, $100 repeats (same dog) PRATTVILLE SWIM LEAGUE Prattville Swim League (PSL) Summer Swimming offers Alabama Recreation and Parks Association (ARPA), USA Swimming, and YMCA competition all on one team. PSL Summer Swimming program begins May 16th and lasts until July 23. Registration at Don M. Smith Branch (334-365-8852) of the YMCA beginning April 5th (YMCA membership not required). Fees vary according to practice group. Practices are offered in the mornings AND evenings. Four regular season swimming meets and two championship meets. Swimmers new to the program must be evaluated to determine appropriate practice group PRIOR TO REGISTRATION. Evaluation Schedule (May 2, 4, 9,11 at the Bradford Branch from 5:15pm-6:15pm & May 16, 17, 19, 23, 24, 26 at Pratt Pool from 6:15pm-7:15pm). Call for more information at 365-8852. NATIONAL KIDS TO PARKS DAY / TOUCH A TRUCK / MAYORS BIKE RIDE When: May 21 Where: Pratt Park/ Upper Kingston Get ready for a family fun day as Prattville celebrates National Kids to Park Day. Pratt Park will be alive with the sounds of horns blowing, motors racing and sirens blaring with the start of the annual Touch-A- Truck celebration. There will be heavy equipment, 18-wheelers, race cars, fire trucks, police cars and
more for kids to climb in and learn about from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Pratt Park. Enjoy inflatables and children’s hands on projects too. Register to ride your bicycle with your family and friends, along with Mayor Bill Gillespie, Jr., from Upper Kingston Park to the Touch A Truck event. No better way to spend a day than sitting on the side of a pond fishing. No fishing license needed if you are 65 and up. (Residents 64 and younger are required to have a fishing license unless they are fishing in the county of their residence with a pole having no reel.) One pole in the water at a time per person. When: Wednesday, May 25 Time: 7am – 3pm Lunch provided (hotdog & drink). Where: Pratt Park Pond Fee: $2.00 per person. (Limit 7 fish per person) RETRO POOL PARTY – PRATT POOL MEMORIAL DAY - MONDAY, MAY 30 10AM – 5PM (weather permitting). This annual event returns with $1.00 per person pricing that includes entry, hotdog and drink (while quantities last). Extra cost for additional hotdogs and drinks. SUMMER ADULT SOFTBALL Registration Fee: $425 Registration Dates: May 31 – June 24 Games: July 11 – August 25 End of Season Tournament will be played the week of August 22nd – 25th, 2022 Leagues: Co-Ed (Monday); Men’s Upper (Tuesday); Men’s Lower (Thursday) *Will have an upper and lower division IF enough teams PRATT POOL OPEN SWIM DAYS The pool will be open every day beginning Memorial Day WEEK. Monday - Friday –Noon until 5pm Saturday – 10am – 6pm (subject to change due to Swim Meets) Sunday – 1pm – 6pm Admission - $3.00 per person (under 3 years old free, and MUST wear a swim diaper) Pool will be closed on Swim Meet days or due to inclement weather. WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS, ART EXHIBIT OPENING, FEATURING WORK BY BARBARA SIMPSON. When: June 2 - June 30 Where: Prattville Creative Arts Center and Gallery on South Chestnut Street This exhibit features new works by local artist Barbara Simpson, and a collection of works by local and regional artists from Simpson’s private collection. The exhibit is family friendly and is free and open to the public during regular gallery hours on Friday and Saturday from 10am-2pm and on Sundays from 1-4pm, or by appointment through the Cultural Arts Office at 334-595-0850.
SEASON OPENING OF PRATTVILLE FARMERS MARKET When: June 4 Where: The Grove on Doster Road The Prattville Farmers Market will open its 2022 Season on Saturday, June 4, from 7am-12noon. There will be local and regional growers, bakers and makers, special giveaways, fun activities, a guest chef, and live music. The market will be open every Saturday from 7am-12 noon through August 27. For more information, contact the Special Events Office at 334-595-0850. KAYAK TRAIL FUN RUN! Come take an exciting ride down the Autauga Creek. Lots of beautiful sites, bamboo, waterfalls and beautiful foliage. You must provide your own equipment, (canoe, kayak, paddleboard, life jackets, sunglasses, drinking water, sunblock etc.). No glass or alcoholic beverages allowed. A bus will be waiting to shuttle you back (no charge) to the starting point. The last shuttle will leave the creek walk area at 9:45am. When: Saturday, June 4 Where: Starts at the Creek Walk behind City Hall, and ends on Co. Rd. 4 at the take out at 1123 Rueben Rd. Time: 10:00am – until (weather permitting) SWIM LESSONS @ PRATT POOL The best gift you can give a child is to teach them how to swim. For ages 3 & up. Space is limited, sign your child up now. There will be no refunds once a session begins. Days lost to inclement weather will not be made up. Times: 10:15am–11am; 11:15–12noon; 5:45pm–6:30pm; 6:45pm–7:30pm Fee: $50.00 per child per session (limited space) 1st Session: June 6 – 17; 2nd Session: June 20 – July 1; 3rd Session: July 11 - 22 If you are 18 or older and are interested in taking Adult Swim Lessons, please call 595-0800. SENIOR ADULT WATER AEROBICS @ Pratt Pool This is the best way to get a great low impact workout, and stay cool in the process! No pre-registration required. SUMMER ART CAMP When: June 13-17 Where: Prattville Creative Arts Center and Gallery Cost: $75 This fun-filled, creative art camp encourages creativity and includes projects in a variety of art media, such as painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, and more. The camp is for children ages 7-12. The cost is $75 for the week and all supplies are furnished. For more information or to register for the camp, contact the Cultural Arts Office at 334- 595-0850. June 2022 CREEKWALK CONCERT SERIES When: June 14 June 28 Where: Heritage Park in Downtown Prattville Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy a free concert by the beautiful Autauga Creek. Creekwalk Concerts will be held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of June and July and will feature local and regional bands. SUMMER THEATRE CAMP When: June 20-24 Where: Way Off Broadway Theatre Cost: $75 Prattville’s Way Off Broadway Theatre will host its annual Summer Youth Camp for children ages 7-12 at the Cultural Arts Building in downtown Prattville. This summer camp will cover acting, directing, costuming, set design, and light and sound. It will encourage creativity, teamwork, discipline and confidence. ONGOING CLASSES TENNIS JUST 4 KIDS Instructors: Glenn Campbell & Anthony Yarbrough, PTR Certified When: Mondays 4:00 - 5:00pm Where: Newton Park Tennis Courts Fee: $50.00 per month (Must pre-register at the Doster Center) Kids, grab your tennis racket and get ready to play! If you are age 4 to 18, beginner or intermediate, this tennis class will improve your game and help you have fun playing tennis. Our tennis class will focus on skill refinement using the Progressive Teaching Method. The PTM uses a system of modified courts, rackets and balls scaled to proper size to maximize learning and fun for different skill levels and age groups. Students also learn proper grips, footwork, strokes, rules, scoring, parts of the court, and etiquette. The last class of the month includes a tennis tournament with awards.
BATON CLASSES Ages: 5 – 18 years old Instructor: Miranda Muir – has 13 years’ experience. She has taught baton for 4 years, choreographed PHS’s halftime show for 2 years & choreographed 2 years of competition for PHS.
