April 2021 ★ Volume 18, Issue 3 For the Parents, Students and Community of Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. A Message from the Principal High School 1500 Minutemen Causeway Hello Everyone, Cocoa Beach, FL 32931 We are entering the final stages of what has been a great year. Despite Tel - 321.783.1776 all of the hurdles before us, our students and staff have been able to provide Fax - 321.868.6602 meaningful learning experiences and many accomplishments - several of which www.cbhs.brevardschools.org are chronicled in the pages of this newsletter. Office Hours I continue to be amazed at the generous spirit of our students. They give 7:30am - 4:00pm so much of their time to better the lives of those around them. The International Baccalaureate (IB) Learner Profile includes the attribute of caring - with a Student Hours commitment to service and action to make a positive difference in the work 8:45am - 3:30pm around us. But it is not just our IB students who demonstrate this call to action. Two great examples are the partnership with the Surfrider Foundation to maintain Friday and protect our coastline and the recent Dance Marathon fundraiser. Early Release Well over 50 students have volunteered on a Saturday morning in each of 8:45am - 2:15pm the past few months, to meet with representatives of the Surfrider Foundation to clean up beaches and plant Sea Oats. That’s right - teenagers up early on a Saturday morning, caring for the environment. The commitment to help others Administration was also evident with our second annual Dance Marathon. Our students planned Dr. Mark J. Rendell and put on the Dance Marathon and raised over $12,000 dollars for the Arnold Principal Palmer Hospital for Children. The efforts of these students, coupled with the Mr. Kevin Rhyne support for our community led to an incredible event. GO BEACH! Assistant Principal Curriculum Mark J.
