Mercedes Benz AG Appendix to the Product Group Drive Systems / Powertrain Development for MTC Specification 1/2 Special Quality Requirements of the Product Group Drive Systems / Powertrain Development for Prototype Parts, MTC Untertürkeim, as well as their assigned locations 1 Additions to Chapters 10.1 to 10.4 of MTC Specification 1/2: In addition to the drawing specifications and requirement specifications, the following quality requirements apply. Should the drawing specifications or requirement specifications or the common requirements (e.g. purchase conditions) contain stricter or weaker specifications, the stricter requirements shall apply. No weakening of safety- relevant requirements or legal specifications is permitted. 1.1 Inspection Characteristics Inspection characteristics labeled as special characteristics by the design engineer in the drawing shall be measured/checked and documented/archived in a suitable format. If the supplier is responsible for creating the drawing, the inspection characteristics shall be defined and labeled in the drawing in coordination with Mercedes- Benz Design Engineering. The following example illustrates inspection characteristics: ("Zeppelin symbol" - as per DIN406) 1.2 Test Severity for Defined Inspection Characteristics Test severity levels indicated in the specification shall be fulfilled. If no test severity is specified, the following test severity levels apply: Production batch 1-20 parts: 100% >20 parts: 10% Test severity levels deviating therefrom are subject to agreement by Mercedes-Benz AG. 1.3 Q-Documents Unless otherwise agreed between the department responsible for Prototype Quality and the supplier or otherwise specified by the prototype quality engineer, the ordered prototype parts and Q-documents (see Chapter 1.3.1 Trial Sample Inspection Report) shall be supplied to Mercedes-Benz AG per delivery, corresponding to submission level 1. If inspection characteristics are defined in the specification and labeled as such, however, the Q-documents shall be submitted per delivery corresponding to submission level 2. Mercedes Benz AG Appendix to the Product Group Drive Systems / Powertrain Development for MTC Specification 1/2 Submission levels: Re item 6: The supplier shall document the procurement structure of its contractors and provide this information to the department responsible for prototype quality on request. Should the orderer be responsible for and have to provide the supplier's purchased parts (directed parts/parts supplied), the supplier shall list them separately with the following information (in item 6 of the submission level matrix): Part number/item number Supplier with the Mercedes-Benz supplier's number Service provider with the Mercedes-Benz supplier's number Drawing and geometry status (ZGS) Q/E status Release status 1.3.1 Trial Sample Inspection Report (TSIR) as per Submission Level 1 The following specifications are mandatory in completing the VDA cover sheet: 1. Item number 2. Designation 3. Quantity 4. Delivery date 5. Delivery note number 6. Order number 7. Date 8. Name 9. Signature 10. Comment field The parts history documents every delivery and partial delivery, their associated master data and any technical changes made under the same item number. The parts history must include the following information: 1. Supplier number 2. Item number 3. Designation 4. Development status 5. Delivery date 6. Delivery note number 7. Quantity 8. Description of change 9. Name (of person responsible) 10. Drawing number / ZGS Author: RD/PPH Page 3 Valid from: 2021-01-01
Mercedes Benz AG Appendix to the Product Group Drive Systems / Powertrain Development for MTC Specification 1/2 1.3.2 Digital Document Transmission For effectively processing the quality documents, we expect to receive the TSIRs exclusively in digital form, sent to the following email address: quality-prototypes@daimler.com The following format of the Q-documents is mandatory: 1. The format of the file is PDF 2. Only one file is to be sent per email per item number 3. The structure of the subject line and the file name is defined as follows: (hyphens are required for automatic processing) VMPB-Benennung-Sachnummer-Lieferdatum-LSNr-pos(.pdf) (TSIR-Designation-Item number-Delivery date-Delivery note no.-Item(.pdf)) Delivery note number and item Delivery date (YYMMDD) Item number Component designation (important: no blank characters or separators) "TSIR" = marker for automatic assignment Example: TSIR-Busbar-HAM1112223344-140120-12345-1(.pdf) 1.4 Cooperation/Escalation Model The model is used in response to serious, repeated or long-standing quality and logistics problems of the supplier. It applies to all prototype parts as well as series production parts for MTC Untertürkheim and their assigned locations and is a mandatory contractual component of any order and delivery of parts to Mercedes-Benz development locations. The supplier's performance is continually measured via KPIs and made available on request. If the KPIs are exceeded, the model of the respective division takes effect, e.g. Q-H:ELP “Quality CHallenges: REcognition, SoLution and Prevention”. Depending on the respective classification, additional measures are specified together with the supplier. If Mercedes-Benz AG supports the supplier by means of the above measures, the supplier reimburses Mercedes-Benz AG for the costs that accrue and that are generated by the support. The support costs will be documented for the individual business case in a supplier agreement. A description of the escalation model with corresponding cost rates in its current version will be documented for the supplier for inspection on the Daimler Supplier Portal. 2 Additions to Chapter 3 of MTC Specification 1/2: Drawing specifications for component part marking must also be adhered for prototype components. If no component part marking is specified in the drawing, all components must be marked in accordance with the MBN 10535 standard referred to Chapter 3. In addition to the contents of this standard, the following additions should lead to the selection of an appropriate component part marking. 2.1 Requirements for Parts Identification: All components require a permanent identification (i.e. readable during the product service life) with the ordered Mercedes-Benz item number. The marking must not affect the function of the components and must be carried out in accordance with the material. Deviating component part markings must be agreed with the department responsible for Prototype Quality of Mercedes-Benz AG. Author: RD/PPH Page 4 Valid from: 2021-01-01
Mercedes Benz AG Appendix to the Product Group Drive Systems / Powertrain Development for MTC Specification 1/2 3 Additions to Chapters 4.1 to 4.2 of MTC-Specification 1/2: In addition, also with regard to the Mercedes-Benz Special Terms (MBST), the following requirements must be observed to ensure packaging quality. Packaging regulations for prototype components are not defined by a packaging planner. 3.1 Damage Protection and Transport Safety: Sensitive components that could be damaged on transport must always be delivered in individual parts packaging. Deviations must be agreed with the department responsible for Prototype Quality of Mercedes-Benz AG prior to delivery. The packaging shall provide sufficient protection against damage and relative movements. 3.2 Protection against Contamination: Appropriate protective measures must be taken to comply with the residual dirt specification and to prevent back- pollution up to the use of components. 3.3 Corrosion Protection: Corrosion-sensitive components shall be protected with suitable corrosion protection measures for at least 6 months. VCI products shall preferably be used for this purpose. 3.4 ESD Protection: Suitable ESD protective packaging shall be used for ESD-relevant parts. If, for technical reasons, another ESD protection measure has to be selected, it must be agreed with the department responsible for Prototype Quality of Mercedes-Benz AG prior to delivery.
