Suy Niệm Sau khi làm phép lạ hoá bánh ra nhiều, Chúa Giêsu đã bảo các môn đệ rời bỏ đám đông để qua bờ bên kia, còn Ngài thì lo việc giải tán dân chúng. So sánh hai đoạn Tin Mừng ấy chúng ta ghi nhận được một chi tiết thú vị. Đó là giữa lúc các môn đệ muốn giải tán dân chúng thì Chúa Giêsu lại yêu cầu các ông giữ họ lại và lo cho họ ăn. Còn bây giờ khi các ông muốn ở lại với họ thì Ngài lại buộc các ông phải rời bỏ họ mà đi nơi khác. Chúa Giêsu xem ra muốn chất dứt niềm hứng khởi của các ông giữa một đám đông vừa mới được thưởng thức phép lạ Ngài làm. Qua đó Chúa Giêsu như muốn dạy các ông một bài học về tinh thần phục vụ đích thực: Hãy phục vụ người khác nhưng đừng tìm cách hưởng thụ hay khai thác những kết quả do việc phục vụ đem lại. Hãy giúp đỡ vì tình trạng cần giúp đỡ của người khác chứ không thể dựa vào lòng biết ơn của họ để tạo thêm uy tín, thanh danh hay ảnh hưởng của riêng mình. Người môn đệ của Chúa phải luôn ở trong tư thế sẵn sàng từ bỏ nơi của phép lạ hoá bánh ra nhiều, nơi của sự thành công, nơi của những cơ sở đã được gầy dựng, nơi của một chỗ đứng đã được bảo đảm, để đến một nơi xa lạ, một nơi khởi sự làm quen với những bất trắc và những khó khăn có thể gặp phải. Cũng như trên đỉnh Taborê, giữa lúc Phêrô đang tính chuyện dựng lều thì Ngài lại giục các ông phải xuống núi và tiếp tục con đường lên Giêrusalem, là nơi bản án tử hình của Ngài đang được chuẩn bị. Công cuộc rao giảng Tin Mừng của các môn đệ không phải là không có những bất trắc, những xáo trộn và những hiểm nguy, như xưa trên mặt biển, các ông đã gặp phải phong ba bão táp. Nhưng nếu chỉ nhìn vào những bất trắc, thì người ta dễ thất vọng và thối lui. Thế nhưng Chúa Giêsu vẫn có đó trong đêm tối của phong ba bão táp. Ngài có đó để nói với chúng ta rằng: Hãy yên tâm, Thầy đây, đừng sợ. Vấn đề là trong những lúc bất trắc xảy đến, chúng ta phải biết nhận ra sự hiện diện của Ngài để can đảm và vững tâm bước tới. Giữa những âm thanh của biển gầm sóng vỗ, chúng ta phải biết nhận ra tiếng nói của Ngài.
