May 2015 American Red Cross Yokosuka Summer Youth Program We have a special orientation that we have lined up just for teens interested in getting involved with the Red Cross Youth Program. There are a few classes that are being offered to kids, but they won’t happen without the support of instructors and mentors. Any teen interested in gathering community volunteer hours, doing something productive this summer, or just enjoy working with kids can attend. The orientation is May 19th at 4:45pm at the Red Cross office. Sign up by contacting us! Volunteer Highlight: Christy Johnston Congratulations to Christy Johnston for becoming the Volunteer of the Quarter for the Far East Division. Christy has played an integral role in helping to develop the Disaster Action Team (DAT) and in-processing volunteers to USNH Yokosuka. Thank you for all your hard work; this award is well deserved! Special Reminder Don’t forget to log your volunteer hours by the 5th of every month electronically through the Volunteer Connection website. You must log hours within six months to maintain eligibility. For those who take advantage of the child care voucher program, please submit a paper copy of those logged hours in addition to the electronic submission.

May 2015 American Red Cross Yokosuka Photo Highlights Congratulations to the most recent graduates of the Medical Assistant Training Program! These graduates sucessfully completed the 10-week program through classroom learning and on the job training provided by USNH Yokosuka. The next medical training program begins in September. Pet Safety Awareness Fair: April 25 American Red Cross Yokosuka, Pets Are Worth Saving (PAWS), and the U.S. Army Veterinary Treatment Facility (VTF) collaborated to bring a pet safety awareness fair to the community on April 25, 2015.
