In Junior Cup and Senior Foursomes shots are not conceded. In Intermediate, Minor, Challenge Cup and Junior Foursomes, shots are conceded. A player’s current handicap will determine which team she is eligible to compete in. A Player may compete in a team even if her handicap exceeds the higher limit for that team but her handicap is reduced to the higher limit.
1. Team sheet to be exchanged with opposing Team Manager prior to start of match. 2. Information on Advice in team competitions page 38 of 2018 Handbook. If an Executive member is not present, please wear a badge indicating that you are the Manager/Captain who may give advice. Any type of badge will suffice. If an Executive member is present you will be supplied with a badge. 3. Please note the time of starting for the first match and the finish time for the last match. This is to be reported along with the result. Important Information for Team Captains / Team Managers, 2018 District, National and Generic Tournament Regulations and Conditions must be adhered to by all teams participating in the ILGU Inter Club Matches. NB: The first round matches are on a Home & Away basis, the Team Managers must contact each other to arrange a mutually convenient date Team Captains should: • Contact Liaison Officers at the host club in advance of the matches to discuss menus and cost of meals for their teams. • Contact the Pro Shop to make arrangements for practice rounds at a time convenient to the hosting club. These practice rounds are at the discretion of the club. Team Exchange Sheet – to be completed with current handicaps and confirmation that players have played three qualifying competitions in the previous 12 months. List names in order of play which must be in handicap order. In singles the lowest handicap player must be first on the list and in foursomes the lowest combined handicap pair must be first. Exchange with opposing Team Manager on the day of the match. Please wear your Badge so everyone will be clear as to who may give advice. ILGU Transportation Policy - Team Captains must make sure they are fully conversant with the ILGU transportation policy regarding the use of buggies by players and caddies. (Page 39-41, 2018 ILGU Handbook) Obtain score cards which include local rules from the liaison officer at the hosting club. Check with the liaison officer for any addition local rules applicable on the day. Advise your players to carry a copy of the Rules of Golf. Ensure your players and caddies are at the first tee at least 10 mins before their starting time. Pace of Play is very important. Slow play should be monitored by the team captains and agreement made with the opposing Team Captain that you will both move your players on if play is slow. Each group is responsible for keeping up with the group in front. If delays occur because of searching for a lost ball the time must be made up by the group. Each player is responsible for playing without delay. Remind your players and caddies that mobile phones MUST be switched OFF while matches are in progress. (Team Captains may carry a phone on silent)
The use of DMD’S is permitted in all ILGU events, provided that they conform to the regulations as set down by the R & A. In the event of a walkover being given it is imperative that the Host club and the East Leinster Tournament Sec. (086 2515182) are notified immediately. Please be considerate of the expense that clubs go to for catering and practice rounds. Please advise the players not to interact with the spectators in order to avoid any misunderstanding re advice. Spectator Guidelines are on page 35 of the ILGU Handbook. Advice for team Managers in Extreme Weather Conditions. Where the extreme weather creates a safety issue, the two Team Captains may at any time agree to discontinue a match. This course of action should only be taken as a last resort and in general a match should be finished if at all possible. When play is suspended, a team/player(s) that has already started play must continue play in the rescheduled match. Any player(s)who is unable to play in the rescheduled match must concede their match. A team/player(s)which has not started play may change the team/players even if the team sheets have already been exchanged prior to the rescheduling of the match. Whenever a team has started play and the match has to be rescheduled, Condition 7.3.11.1 (see Regulations and Conditions attached) is applicable to those players who had not started their match. Example: Minor Cup team. Pairings 1, 2, and 3 have teed off. The course is then closed due to unplayable conditions. The match is rescheduled for the following Friday. Pairings 1, 2 and 3 must resume play from where they stopped. If any of these players are not available to resume play, they must concede their match to their opponent. Pairings 3 and 4 may change for the rescheduled round as they had not started their matches. When a decision is taken to discontinue a match, the two Team Captains must: • Ensure that the position of the balls and state of the match is clearly agreed. • Arrange with the host club for course time to complete the match. • Immediately inform East Leinster ILGU. Reporting Match Results. The Manager of the winning team should forward both the match result and the start and finish times, to the Results Contact Person, listed on the draw sheet, as soon as possible. The Tournament Committee has the right to reschedule the starting time of any match. Please check the draw sheets on the website for up to date information
Guidelines for Liaison Officers 2018 AIG Ladies Cups & Shields A Liaison Officer is a vital part in the successful running of the AIG Ladies Cups & Shields - Inter Club Matches. She must be fully conversant with the internal structure within her own club. This enables her to direct enquiries to the relevant personnel. The Office, Caterer and Pro Shop should be informed of the names of the Clubs playing on the day. Suggest a book is kept in the Pro Shop for players to sign in, emphasise one free practice round. A week or two before the Matches contact the visiting Team Managers with menu choices and prices. Get an approximate number of players and caddies who will be eating on the day so you can inform the caterer. Organise at least three other club members to assist you on the day. ON THE DAY OF THE MATCH • Have your organised club members on hand to welcome the visiting teams. • Have Tea/Coffee available for teams prior to play. (Clubs to pay for their own) • Before the start of play get the menu choices and numbers for the kitchen • Make the bar aware that Clubs may be running an account for Drinks/Wine. • Arrange to have club members as starters, who will ensure all Teams are at the 1st Tee 10 minutes before their tee time. Getting Teams off promptly avoids delays for later Teams. • Supply Score Cards and copies of any additional local rules that are not on the card. • In the event of a match going down the 19th ensure that this is facilitated. • Following the recent survey where Clubs displayed a definite preference to be seated with the opposing Team following the Match, we would ask Liaison Officers to arrange this whenever possible. • Ensure Bar and Catering staff prepare accounts for Team Captains who must discharge Team Expenses before leaving the Club. Liaison Officers should not involve themselves with any disputes that may occur on the course. This is the Team’s Captain’s Domain
AIG LADIES CUPS & SHIELDS 8.1 Prizes District Foursomes: Winners: Pennant, Memento (9); Runners Up: Memento (9) District Singles: Winners: Pennant, Memento (8); Runners Up: Memento (8) 8.2 General 8.2.1 The Competition shall be run under the management of a Tournament Committee appointed by the East Leinster Executive Committee. 8.2.2 The Tournament Committee reserves the right to make changes where necessary. The Tournament Committee’s decision is final. The following are in addition to AIG Ladies’ Cups and Shields National Tournament Regulations and Conditions (pages 53 – 56) and must also be read in conjunction with Generic Regulations and Conditions (pages 36 – 42) - ILGU Handbook 2018 8.3 Regulations – Senior Foursomes – Minimum Combined 14 • 8.3.1 The names of the players in order of handicap, including any reserves, should be submitted to the Tournament Office no later than 45 minutes before tee time (see National Tournament Regulations). • 8.3.2 Competitors shall play an 18 holes stroke play qualifying round at the selected neutral venues to qualify for the match play stage. Two of 3 scores from each team to count, one score is discarded. Four teams from each venue will qualify for the matchplay stage. Total number of qualifiers 16. • 8.3.3 The 16 qualifiers from the stroke play qualifying stage will be entered into an open draw to play in the match play stage in one of two venues. The winners of the match play at each venue qualify to play in the District finals. No Club shall have home advantage. • 8.3.4 In foursomes qualifying stroke play, the non-counting score will be used to decide a tie. If still a tie ILGU Regulation 5 will apply to the non-counting score and if still a tie decided by lot. 8.4 Regulations – Junior Foursomes – No Halved Matches MINIMUM HANDICAP IS 15. MINIMUM COMBINED IS 35. MAXIMUM COMBINED IS 41. Shots allowed as per Handicap table. • 8.4.1 All Junior Foursomes matches are to be played at a neutral venue which will be decided by the District Executive. • 8.4.2 Top of the draw to arrange tee time with neutral venue. Two suitable dates, one of which must be a weekend date, are to be offered by the neutral venue. • 8.4.3 Top of the draw has the honour on the 1st tee. • 8.4.4 Clubs entering must agree to facilitate the playing of the match on their course on a weekend. • 8.4.5 Matches to be played on an agreed date on or before the assigned final date. • 8.4.6 If a day cannot be arranged for the match it must be played on the last day. If one or other of the teams cannot play on the last day the match must be conceded. 8.5 Regulations – Singles – No Halved Matches • 8.5.1 The ILGU is not responsible for the organisation of matches between clubs for the 1st Round.
• 8.5.1.1 Matches shall be played on a Home and Away basis – 3 matches at Home and 2 matches Away. • 8.5.1.2 Top of the draw will indicate Home advantage where 3 matches shall be played. 8.5.1.3 Top of the draw has the honour on the 1st tee. • 8.5.1.4 Two suitable dates (one must be a weekend date) to be offered by the Home Club. • 8.5.1.5 Matches to be played on an agreed date on or before the assigned final date. • 8.5.1.6 Matches being played on a Home and Away basis should be played on the same date at approximately the same time. • 8.5.1.7 In Home and Away matches if either course is closed due to weather conditions, all matches shall be played on the other course if playable. If both courses are closed the Team Managers should contact the Tournament Secretary of the District. • 8.5.1.8 Teams of less than five players (Challenge Team ONLY): the team with the home advantage must play three matches at home, otherwise if a team has no home advantage they must send three players away. • 8.5.2 From the 2nd Round up to the District Final, all singles matches will be played at neutral venues organised by the East Leinster District Tournament Committee. 8.6 Conditions – Singles – Challenge Cup Only Ties: In the event of a tie in the Challenge Cup, (where both teams have only 4 players or less) an aggregate of “Holes Up” in played matches shall determine the result. If there is still a tie the lowest handicap match (i.e. the players listed as no. 1 on the team sheets) shall play-off hole-by-hole commencing at the first hole of the Home or Neutral Venue. 8.7 Disputes (East Leinster District) If there is a dispute which is not settled by the Team Captains/Managers, details must be sent in writing within 48 hours to the District Honorary Secretary. Each Captain/Manager will be entitled to present her case.
