1 Introduction Renewable Energy Solutions for Africa Foundation, in partnership with Enel Foundation and in cooperation with MIP and Bocconi University, organizes the two weeks advanced training course that will be held in Milan from 18th to 29th of november 2019. The yearly training course, in its 6th edition, aims at providing participants with a set of technical, economic and regulatory core competences and advanced tools to assess and deploy the most appropriate solutions in different energy contexts for an efficient and effective integration of renewables in emerging electricity markets, whilst nurturing an international network of experts. The course is addressed primarily to high-achieving individuals able to shape and deploy the future of energy systems in the Africa Region. The course will be held in English. 2 Target Audience The target audience for this course is represented by young, high-level, professionals serving in public institutions, energy companies, energy centers, universities and research agencies, operating in all the African Countries (Southern, Northern, Western, Eastern and Central Africa). In addition, a new category of participants is added to cover Ph.D. or Master level students or Researchers from Italian Universities. In total, 70 participants will take part to the training. Applications are welcome from the following groups: RES4Africa Foundation Network 40 High-achieving individuals and middle managers coming from Sub-Saharan Africa and SEMCs. Places are available for open registration. The selected participants in this category will be awarded the Enel Foundation Scholarship. that will cover tuition fee, travel and accommodation costs. RES4Africa Foundation members (15 professionals). Italian Universities 15 Ph.D. or MD students and Researchers The range of background skills by the participants to the course will be diverse, ranging from professionals with a regulatory background, program managers to energy engineers. The synergy among professionals from different countries and with a different professional and educational background, will greatly contribute to the development of a fruitful and positive debate. RES4Africa Foundation, Enel Foundation, MIP and Bocconi University will promote a balanced gender mix in the selection of participants, therefore high significance is given to the attendance of women. 3 Costs and Facilitations
SUPPORT SCHEME and COSTS Beneficiary Covering costs and Items 40 SEMCs and Sub-Saharan African Flights, accommodation, board, Full scholarship (RES4Africa) middle managers transportation, class lectures, laboratories and plant visits. RES4Africa Registration 15 Professionals from Class lectures, laboratories and plant (PhD and MD students) RES4Africa member network visits (incl. transportation). Free Registration 15 Ph.D. and researchers from Lectures, laboratories and plant (PhD and MD students) Italian universities visits (including transportation). 4 Application procedure and screening of candidates High-achieving individuals and Middle managers from Sub-Saharan Africa and SEMCs Young middle managers (up to 35 years) from public institutions, national authorities, energy companies, energy and implementing agencies, research institutes, TSOs, DSOs, research institutions and civil society organizations with a seniority between three and six years in the energy field and good knowledge of English. A Selection Committee composed by - Eng. Roberto Vigotti, RES4Africa Foundation - Dott. Carlo Papa, Enel Foundation will over-see the process and perform final selection of 40 candidates no later than sept 16th. Applicants can register clicking the banner dedicated to the Advanced Training Course 2019 both on res4med.org or res4africa.org and enelfoundation.com The evaluation of applicants will be completed only to applicants providing the following documents: Registration form, properly completed, mandatory (please fill the Registration Form model in the Documents section of this web page and send to training@res4africa.org) Curriculum Vitae, mandatory (.doc or .pdf, to training@res4africa.org) Motivation Letter, mandatory (.doc or .pdf, to training@res4africa.org) Passport, mandatory (.doc or .pdf, to training@res4africa.org) At least one letter of references, mandatory (.doc or .pdf, to training@res4africa.org) The Selection Committee will finalize is decision by Sept 16th in order to give Enel Foundation the time to follow internal procedures with/by its compliance officer. Official approval will be given by September 20th and RES4Africa Foundation will send out an e-mail confirming admission to the Course. Selected applicants will then have to confirm attendance by September 23rd. Professionals from International institution or RES4Africa Members The application must be sent by email to RES4Africa Foundation. RES4Africa will notify via e-mail those admitted to participate in the course. Selected applicants will have to confirm attendance by October 10th. Relevant dates for Professional participants: Submission deadline: by September 28th 2019; Notification of admitted attendees: by October 3rd; Confirmation by admitted applicants: by October 10th The Selection Committee will over-see the process and perform final selection. Please note that all the applications for the Professionals from International institution or RES4Africa Members must be sent exclusively to training@res4africa.org Ph.D. or Master level students and Researchers from Italian Universities RES4Africa, MIP and Bocconi University are responsible for over-seeing the Ph.D. students and Researchers application process and for final selection of candidates together with Enel Foundation. After evaluation of CVs and Motivation Letters, RES4Africa will notify via e-mail those admitted to participate in the course. Selected applicants will have to confirm attendance by October 10th. Relevant dates for participants: Submission deadline: by September 28th 2018; Notification of admitted attendees: by October 3rd; Confirmation by admitted applicants: by October 10th The evaluation of applicants will be completed on the basis of: Registration form, properly completed, compulsory (please download and fill the Registration Form model in the Documents section of this web page and send to training@res4africa.org) Curriculum Vitae, compulsory (.doc or .pdf, to training@res4africa.org) 5 ourse Structure The structure of the course includes different modules that foresees 70 hours lectures on the main technical, regulatory and economics features of electricity markets and associated topics given by qualified international experts, academics and highly skilled technicians. The training is structured to favor the exchange of experiences among participants by means of their direct involvement through fruitful interaction in group study activities and communal site visits. The Advanced Training Course encourages participants to explore multidisciplinary approaches covering technical, economic and regulatory topics mainly integrating: • theoretical and academic sessions;
• market perspective and industrial view. 6 Duration, venue and logistics The training course will last two weeks (starting November 18th, 2019) and will take place at MIP – management school of Politecnico of Milano, at Bocconi University, at CESI Headquarter. A certificate of attendance will be released by RES4Africa Foundation and Enel Foundation at the end of the course. All requested documents for registration need to be provided in English.
