I am excited about the Park at Lee Mill Heights Master Plan that we completed in Spring Keep an eye out on our 2018 with assistance from the National Park Service. This Facebook page for a survey link. plan sets forth a vision for the 93-acre prairie park. We are moving straight into design for the first phases of park MHKPRD.com/Survey development which will include work at the Loma Ridge entrance and along Miller Parkway. Expect to see those projects taking shape later this year. We have also been working with K-State landscape architecture students on the Warner Park Master Plan. Planning will continue through the summer, building upon their ideas. We are also working to finalize an update to the City Park Master Plan. The plan started a couple years ago but was put on hold as we explored broader recreation questions like community tennis facilities and indoor aquatics. I am excited to see the results of both of these plans. Finally, we have partnered with the Flint Hills MPO to plan the future of trails in Manhattan. The Rec and Trails sales tax, passed by voters in November 2017, sets aside money to build trails and sidewalks throughout the community. Our goal is to make MHK an easier place to walk and bike. Watch for opportunities to provide input on all of these exciting plans. WYATT THOMPSON Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation www.mhkprd.com ANIMAL SHELTER OPEN HOUSE HAPPENING IN APRIL!
