GENERAL INFO General Info July 22, 2019 Residents of the Oshkosh Area School District, The Oshkosh Area School District takes pride in providing the entire Oshkosh community with exceptional recreational opportunities and quality programs. I invite you to learn more about the Oshkosh Recreation Department, a division of the Oshkosh Area School District, and the many programs and services available to you and your family in the Fall and Winter of 2019-2020. Our hope is for everyone in the community to enjoy improved health and happiness through wellness activities included with these programs. It is a privilege for me to serve as your Superintendent of Schools. This past year, I have had the pleasure of making Oshkosh my home and becoming a part of this incredible community. From exploring local attractions to getting to know our neighborhoods and neighbors, I have enjoyed every moment. I look forward to continuing to serve you by helping all residents and businesses connect with our schools and working together to ensure that our students, District, and community continue to succeed. Meeting the needs of our community is a top priority for the entire District, and we are committed to providing valuable and relevant programming. Under the leadership of Al Wenig, Director of Recreation, and with a tremendously talented staff, the Oshkosh Recreation Department responsively serves the greater Oshkosh community. They have been offering a wide variety of activities, sports, and classes for children and adults of Oshkosh and the surrounding communities for over 100 years. The classes and activities offered each season of the year are designed to serve the needs, interests, and abilities of community residents of all ages. Our programming and events take place in school buildings and other best-fit locations. This opportunity to provide community access to the District’s facilities beyond the school day is valued and welcomed by all. On behalf of the Oshkosh Area School District, I hope that you consider participating in our extensive program offerings and wish each of you the balance in life needed to maintain and grow your health, aided whenever possible by using the programs available through the Oshkosh Recreation Department. Sincerely, Vickie L. Cartwright, Ph.D. Superintendent of Schools - Oshkosh Area School District www.oshkosh.k12.wi.us 3
