DID YOU KNOW? • Each year, more than 8,600 children participate in Lancaster Rec programing. • Lancaster Rec awards more than $50,000 in youth sports scholarships annually to thousands of families. • We coordinate more than 80,000 free meals to children in the Lancaster community. • We provide summer playground and wading pool programs to more than 3,500 Lancaster children, free of charge. • We serve 7,550 meals and provide 4,461 rides to Lancaster senior citizens each year. BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE In-School Care for Kindergarten through 5th Grade Registration continues throughout the school year or until full. Space is limited! $50 registration fee due at time of registration. ($10 for each additional child) Limited spaces available - register early! Call 717-392-2115 to register or for more information. Prices are available online at www.LancasterRec.org/child-care/before-and-after-school-programs/. Lancaster Rec Before and After School Care Programs provide state-certified child care, at School District of Lancaster Elementary Schools (except for King Elementary), for children whose parents are working or are in training. Our Before and After School Program staff plans and conducts activities and lessons to support each child’s development and learning. The goals of our activity-based curriculum are to help children meet state standards in academic areas, reinforce classroom learning, improve social and communication skills and become more physically active. Lancaster Rec Before and After School Care Programs provide state-certified child care. We participate in the state Keystone STARS quality child care initiative. All of our Before and After School Programs have attained the STAR 4 level, the highest rating from Keystone STARS. HOW TO REGISTER FOR CHILD CARE PROGRAMS Registration for Before and After School Care and Child Care Programs is only accepted in person at the Lancaster Recreation Commission office or the Lancaster Rec Child Development Center at McCaskey High School. No phone registrations are accepted. An annual non-refundable registration fee of $50 (plus $10 for each additional child from the same family) is due at the time of registration at the beginning of every new school year. Children are not permitted to attend Before and After School Care or Child Care Programs until all registration items have been turned in. A complete registration consists of the following: • Completed and signed Child Care Agreement • Completed and signed Attendance Contract • Completed and signed Health Appraisal Form (Physical) and Immunization (Shot) Records ¤ Physicals and Shot Records less than three months old are required for infants ages 6 weeks - 1 year; less then six months old for young toddlers ages 1 - 2 years. ¤ Physicals and Shot Records less than one year old are required for 2 - 3 year olds, Preschool - K5 and Grade 5. ¤ Children in Grades 1 through 4 are required to turn in Physicals and Shot Records (may be more than one year old). • Copies of any Custody/PFA Court documents, if applicable • Copies of child’s IEP or IFSP, if applicable • Completed and signed Child Care Center Meal Benefit Income Eligibility Form, for children ages 5 and under 4 / Register at LancasterRec.org
EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION PROGRAMS Our goal is to provide quality, affordable and reliable childcare. Lancaster Rec Early Childhood Education has attained the STAR 4 level in the state Keystone STARS quality child care initiative, the highest rating for a child care program. Lancaster Rec Child Development Center at McCaskey High School Ages Weekly Rates Open Year-Round / Monday-Friday / 6:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. We offer state-licensed, quality child care Infants $225 for infants (6 weeks and older), toddlers and (6 weeks – 12 months) preschool-age children, serving teen parents, School District of Lancaster staff and the Younger Toddler $210 community at-large. (13 months – 24 months) OUR PROGRAM INCLUDES: Older Toddler $195 • Breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack (25 months – 36 months) (Parents must provide diapers and enough bottles/cups for each feeding per day.) After Wrap-Around Care $67 We offer Full-Day Pre-K for children who will enter SDoL elementary schools at McCaskey. Before & After Wrap-Around Care $121.50 Pre-K Counts Wrap-Around Care Ages 3-4 We provide wrap-around Before and After School Care Year-Round / Monday-Friday / 8 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Lancaster Rec Center for children in K4 attending (Wrap-Around Care provided from 6:30-8 a.m. and Martin Elementary and Price Elementary Schools 3-5:30 p.m.) (transportation provided by SDoL). We operate FREE state-sponsored Pre-K Counts classrooms, working collaboratively with the School District of Lancaster, at the Lancaster Rec Center. Enrollment is based on a child’s needs and the family’s income. Pre-K Counts prepares your children for kindergarten by exposing them to school routines including classroom structure and expectations. In our Pre-K Counts program, children have plenty of play time while developing their fine motor skills and gross motor skills. Children are provided with a daily breakfast and lunch. Instructors are certified by the League of American Bicyclists and have many years of experience providing these training courses and using their bikes for transportation. Participants are required to bring their own bikes and helmets. This course is offered by Lancaster Rec and the Lancaster County Active Transportation Advisory Committee. At the Senior Center, funding from the Lancaster County Office of Aging provides transportation and a daily hot lunch. Membership is FREE! The Lancaster Rec Senior Center is located on the lower level of the Lancaster Recreation Center in Brandon Park. The Park features off-street parking, a walking trail, children’s playground and basketball courts. The Senior Center utilizes a full-size gym, dance room, kitchen, a 52-inch flat screen TV equipped with a Wii game system and two large program rooms. New to Medicare Presentation with Q & A Time Lancaster County Office of Aging provides the PA Medi Program. A team of certified volunteers and staff are highly knowledgeable about Medicare and will lead a very informative presentation about the basics of Medicare. All information provided is FREE, unbiased and objective. The PA Medi Team are not insurance agents or from an insurance company. This is great to attend if you are soon eligible for Medicare and want to know the facts or learn about different types of coverage. The program is up to 2 hours and is followed by a question and answer session. Setting will be audience style with social distancing. Medicare Annual Open Enrollment and Health Plan Check-Up Appointments Lancaster County Office of Aging provides the PA Medi Program. This group assists those with questions about Medicare, Medicaid and other health insurances. The team of professionals will meet with you individually and confidentially to go over what Medicare Plan you currently have and see if upcoming 2022 plans are the same, have higher or lower premiums or are still available. If your coverage remains the same and you like it, you don’t have to do anything. Prescription Plans and Medigap Plans are those you can switch at this time of year. You can also switch from an Advantage Plan to an Original Medicare Plan. Changes made during the Open Enrollment time become effective January 1, 2022.
