RULES 1 All players male/female wishing to join the Academy must agree to abide by the rules of the Academy as set out herein. 2 Where a player is under the age of consent his Parents/Guardians must undertake to ensure that the player observes all the rules of the Academy as set out herein. 3 Players seeking membership of the Academy must first be a fully registered player of a club in membership of the North Dublin Schoolboy & Girls League / Metropolitan. 4 There is no exception to the above rule. 5 All players who are accepted to the Academy do so on a probationary period during which the behaviour of the player is monitored in all aspects. 6 During this probationary period a player and or players can be asked to leave the Academy without any reason. 7 Players who seek membership of the Academy from day one of the probationary period agree to be bound by the Academy rules & code of conduct and to observe the stated dress code of the Academy. 8 All grievances and or complaints in relation to any aspect of the Academy, its staff etc , must be made in writing and addressed to the Honorary Secretary of NDSL. 9 When players are involved in any aspect of Academy business there is a strict no smoking ban. 10 All players when on duty with the Academy regardless of age are forbidden to drink any form of alcohol and or stimulant drinks.
11 Players who are in membership of the Academy and on any form of medication must make the Academy aware of such medication and all known allergies on the medical form provided. 12 Membership of the Academy entitles all players male/female regardless of race , colour or creed to be treated with the utmost respect at all times. 13 Academy staff must ensure that this respect for all members of the Academy is adhered to without exception. 14 Players who are accepted to the Academy will be encouraged to attain the highest standards both on and off the football field. 14a Players who have not paid registration fees are not covered under NDSL/MGL insurance. 15 All Academy players and staff must aim to achieve the highest possible standards at all times. 16 Both players and staff must show the proper respect to their peers , match officials , opposing players and the public. 17 No member of the Academy , be they players or staff , should behave in a manner which could bring the name of the Academy into disrepute. 18 All Academy staff and players must wear there I.D badges in a prominent position when on Academy duty . 19 The officers of the Academy reserve the right to delete and or amend these rules in the interest of all concerned and the good name of the NDSL & Academy. 20 All boys and girls in the Academy are not automatically selected for any competitions within the Academy structure as in the Academy the focus is on player development.
PLAYERS CODE OF CONDUCT 1 Play because you enjoy football, not to please your parents or coach. 2 Players must respect the rights , dignity and each and every person and treat equally within the context of the sport. 3 Players must adhere to all guidelines laid down by the constitution / rules and code of conduct. 4 Players must develop an appropriate working relationship with the coach based on mutual trust and respect. 5 Players must accept responsibility for their own behaviour and performance 6 Players should, at the outset, clarify with the coach ( and where appropriate, their parents ) exactly what is expected of them and also what they are entitled to expect from players. 7 Players must co-operate fully with specialists (e.g. Other coaches , officials, sports scientists, doctors, physiotherapists ) in their own interest. 8 Players must always adhere to the positive aspects of the sport (e.g. fair play ) and never condone violations of the laws of the game , behaviour contrary to the spirit of the laws of the game or relevant rules and regulations or the use of prohibited substances or techniques. 9 Players must consistently display high standards of behaviour. 10 Players must appreciate the importance of striving to win, not winning itself. `
THE RESPONSIBLE PARENTS/GUARDIANS CODE OF CONDUCT 1 Parents must appreciate that their children’s involvement in playing football should be primarily for his/her personal enjoyment. 2 Parents must respect the rights and dignity of every person and treat equally within the context of sport. Praise positive aspects of play and avoid becoming frustrated or ridiculing young players by focusing on their failings. 3 Parents must place the well-being and safety of each player above all other considerations, including the development of performance. 4 Parents must adhere to all guidelines laid down within the constitution and rules of the Football Association. 5 Parents must develop an appropriate supportive relationship with both the coach and their child based on mutual trust and respect. 6 Parents must not exert undue influence to obtain personal benefit or Reward. 7 Parents must encourage and guide players to accept responsibility for their own behaviour and performance. 8 Parents should, at the outset and where appropriate , seek clarification with the coach and players , exactly what is expected of them and also what they are entitled to expect from the coach and player. 9 Parents must co-operate fully with specialists ( e.g other coaches , officials , sports scientists , doctors , physiotherapists ) in their own interest. 10 Parents must always promote the positive aspects of the sports (e.g Fair Play ) and never condone violations of the laws of the game , behaviour contrary to the spirit of the laws of the game or relevant rules and regulations or the use of prohibited substances or techniques. 11 Parents must consistently display high standards. 12 Parents must emphasise the importance of striving to win, not winning itself . Praise effort and performance more than results. 13 Parents are not permitted entry to the training/dressing room area without permission from the coaches or manager unless they need to speak to the coach or manager.
THE RESPONSIBLE FOOTBALL COACH/ MANAGER CODE OF CONDUCT 1 Coaches / Managers must respect the rights , dignity of every person and treat equally within the context of the sport. 2 Coaches / Managers must place the well-being and safety of each player above all other considerations , including the development of proformance 3 Coaches/Managers must adhere to all guidelines as laid down within the constitution and the rules of the Football Association. 4 Coaches / Managers must develop and appropriate supportive relationship with each player based on mutual trust and respect. 5 Coaches/Managers must not exert undue influence to obtain personal benefit or reward. 6 Coaches / Managers must encourage and guide players to accept responsibility for their own behaviour and performance. 7 Coaches / Mangers must ensure that the activates they direct or advocate are appropriate for the age , maturity , experience and ability of players. 8 Coaches / Managers should at the outset clarify with the player ( and where appropriate with the parent ) , exactly what is expected of them and also what they are entitled to expect from their coach. 9 Coaches / Managers must co-operate fully with specialists ( e.g other coaches , officials , sports scientists , doctors , physiotherapists ) in the best interests of the player. 10 Coaches / Managers must always promote the appropriate code of conduct and positive aspects of the sport ( e.g fair play ) to players , parents , and spectators alike. Never condone violations of the laws of the game , behaviour contrary to the spirit of the laws of the game or relevant rules and regulations or the use of prohibited substance of techniques. 11 Coaches / Managers must consistently display high standards of behaviour and experience and be a role model for players , parents and spectators.

NDSL Away Trip Consent Form This form should be signed by the legal guardian ( usually parent / carer ) of a child or young person under the age of 18 , together with the child or young person. Please note that if you have more then one child under the age of 18 selected , then you will need to complete a separate form for each young person. As part of that commitment , we need to confirm if you agree to the above mentioned player, being involved as and when invited , to participate in the NDSL Academy under the following conditions: Travel Arrangements will be made to provide transport for all players to and from designated pick up points for each NDSL team event. The Leagues responsibility for your child starts and stops at the agreed pick up points , it is your responsibility to arrange transport to and from , the agreed pick up point which you will be notified of prior to each event.
Remote Supervision There may be occasions when your child is involved in planned and structured unsupervised non– soccer activities ( e.g shopping trips ). Players will only be permitted to participate in these activities if they are considered appropriate to do so. You will be informed prior to the event if any form of remote supervision will take place for such activities. Water Based activities There may be occasions when your child is involved in planned and structured swimming activities. Use of the swimming pool for rehabilitation exercises and or training may occur. Appropriate supervision including qualified lifeguard cover will be provided. In addition some matches may be televised. If your child is the subject of a court order or temporarily in the care if the HSE (now or in the future ) you must inform a member of staff in the NDSL. The NDSL will take all steps the ensure that images are used solely for the purpose they are intended , which is the promotion and celebration of the activities of NDSL Teams. If you become aware that these images are being used inappropriately , you should inform any member of the NDSL Team Staff immediately.
