FREE PRESCHOOL FOR FAMILIES Working families and young children in Penrith will benefit from a year of free preschool with the NSW Government announcing funding for community preschools in 2021. This $120 million commitment will help more than 44,000 three to five year olds attending community preschool. The free preschool program has been supporting families since the beginning of the pandemic and was providing certainty for parents into the future. This funding will assist families to get on with working and support them to divert family income into other essentials. Early childhood services opting into this program must continue to remain open and available to provide education and care. This is particularly important for children as families return to work. PLANNING UNDERWAY FOR NEW CAR PARK AT EMU PLAINS STATION Public transport customers are set to benefit from around 750 additional parking spaces at Emu Plains Station thanks to the NSW Government’s Commuter Car Park Program. The proposal includes a new ground level car park, which will be easily accessible to customers coming from the west, reducing traffic on the busy Old Bathurst Road, Smith Street and the Great Western Highway. A new pedestrian bridge over Old Bathurst Road is part of the proposal and will provide safe and direct access to the station entrance, in addition to the nearby High School, without having to cross any roads. Other features of the proposal include: • Additional accessible parking spaces • Footpath upgrades • CCTV, lighting, landscaping and wayfinding For more information on the Commuter Car Park Program, please visit: www.transport.nsw.gov.au/commuter-car-park-program STATION LOCATIONS CONFIRMED FOR WESTERN SYDNEY’S NEW METRO The station locations for the new Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport project to service Greater Western Sydney and the new Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) airport have been announced, with the project also set to deliver a multi-billion dollar boost to the New South Wales and Australian economies. Exact station locations have now also been confirmed on the 23-kilometre driverless railway line at St Marys, Orchard Hills, Luddenham and two stations at the airport. The Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport project will support 14,000 jobs, including 250 apprentices and inject billions of dollars to the NSW and Australian economies. With construction expected to start later this year on a project that will become the transport spine for the Western Parkland City. The new railway will link residential areas with jobs hubs, and connect travellers from the new airport with the rest of Sydney’s public transport network. Supporting the airport and Aerotropolis is a key part of the Western Sydney City Deal – a 20-year agreement signed in March 2018 by the Commonwealth Government, NSW Government and eight Western Sydney councils.

Festive Rocky Road Christmas Trees Main Ingredients: · 3 x 375g packets milk · 1½ cups chopped salted peanuts chocolate melts · 1 cup shredded coconut · 3 x 100g packets marshmallows – Extra Topping Ingredients: chopped into pieces · White chocolate stars · 450g Turkish delight – · White chocolate melts chopped into pieces · Silver cachous Method: 1. Cut 3 x 24 cm squares of cardboard and 3 x 24 squares of baking paper. Staple baking paper onto cardboard. Shape into cones, sticky tape or staple to secure. 2. Place milk chocolate melts into a heatproof bowl over simmering water in a saucepan and stir until melted (you may choose to melt in the microwave). Mix in marshmallows, turkish delight, coconut and peanuts. 3. Spoon mixture into cones pressing firmly. Stand in the fridge on a baking tray until set. 4. Remove the rocky road cones from cardboard. Use slightly melted white cholate melts to stick cachous to the white chocolate stars and again use white chocolate melts to stick stars to the cones. Place aside to set.
