The Foundation is like a big family with Chairman parents who live forever. We would like to warmly thank our partners, donors, sponsors, employees, volunteers and families who make a real difference in the lives of people with disabilities. Every one of these people helps the Foundation continue its important work. We are pleased to share with you our achievements for the period from April 1, 2016, to March 31, 2017, in this report. It is difficult to find Los Angeles resources for people with special needs like us. For some time now, we have been living in one of the Foundation’s specialized housing resources, so it is important for us to tell you about our Foundation. ACHIEVEMENT REPORT 2016-2017 LE PILIER FOUNDATION P.07 CENTRE MARCELLE ET JEAN COUTU The Centre Marcelle et Jean Coutu (CMJC) is an adapted facility run by a dedicated team that helps more than 250 young people and adults with disabilities, as well as families. What a success! ” Mrs. Vachon, mother of a young woman with an intellectual disability who receives weekend respite care, participates in the adapted activities and in 2016 participated in the new summer respite service WEEKLY SUMMER RESPITE CARE Attended by 16 children | teens | adult Summer respite care stays start on Monday at 9:00 a.m. and end on Friday at 3:00 p.m., and include nights. During the five-day stay, various activities and outings are organized. Ideally, participants are in the same age group—children aged 5 to 12, teenagers aged 12 to 17 and adults aged 18 or over—and each stay is for a specific age group. A different program was proposed for adults and youths during Summer 2016. SPECIALIZED WEEKEND RESPITE CARE Attended by 76 children | teens | adult To provide rest for parents and family caregivers during the weekend, the Foundation provides specialized respite care at the CMJC for many people with disabilities in two age groups: children and teenagers aged 5 to 17, and adults aged 18 or over. The maximum accommodation capacity is 15 people, so each weekend is for a specific age group. More openings will be available when offered box beds have been installed. CYCLICAL SHORT-TERM STAYS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE WITH AUTISM DURING SCHOOL WEEK Attended in principle by 12 children and teenagers Every week during the school week, from Monday evening to Friday morning, the Foundation provides accommodation and support to four children and teenagers with autism. This service is for 12 young people, divided into three groups of four, who take turns to stay each week. THANK YOU TO THE FONDATION MARCELLE ET JEAN COUTU Thanks to a generous donation from the Fondation Marcelle et Jean Coutu, families with a child receiving specialized respite care at the CMJC have been given a gift certificate for a respite weekend in 2017. What’s more, costs for specialized respite care stays (for some families depending on various criteria) and adapted activities during the day have been reduced.

P.12 LE PILIER FOUNDATION ACHIEVEMENT REPORT 2016-2017 A NEW SPECIALIZED HOUSING RESOURCE BY 2020 At The Great Leaders’ Evening on February 23, 2017, the Foundation was proud to announce that the $70,000 raised during the evening would help finance its next project: a new specialized housing resource for people with disabilities by 2020. The Foundation would like to thank its two main sponsors, the Jean Coutu Group (PJC) Inc. and Nivel Inc., as well as all the other sponsors of its charity dinner show at the Montreal Casino Cabaret with Gregory Charles. The Foundation would also like to thank the Morris & Rosalind Goodman Family Foundation for its generous donation. WE ALL HAVE OUR CHALLENGES Under the theme “We all have our challenges,” the event was an ideal opportunity to pay tribute to Jonathan Turcotte-Le Breton. This young man with a physical disability, who faces challenges every day, is going for it and making his dreams come true.
