The videos were superb. But, above all, their eagerness was infectious and I sincerely hope that we all take this wave of positivity back into school with us for Monday morning. What an end to our time learning remotely. Thank you to all of our pupils, parents, and staff for continuing to all work tireless- ly during this time. Well done and I look forward to seeing you all soon!

World Book Day - Thursday 4th March 2021 At Moyles Court, we always look forward to World Book Day and this year by no exception. Despite taking place in a virtual sense this time around, we were so very pleased to see that that special Moyles Court spirit was not dampened at all. Our pupils (and staff!) continued to wear and show off their costumes very proudly and we had such a good time seeing them. The photographs that the pupils took throughout the day were spectacular, and the videos that many of them participated in were ex- traordinary. We were treated to a special dramatic reading of “Who’s in the loo?” (filmed in an actual loo!) by Jacob in Year 2, who proudly donned his rhino costume to great effect. His brother in Year 6, James, waited especially for nightfall to film his dra- matic reading, as he took part this year as one of the “Midnight Gang”, which we all found very fun. Year 5 was taken over by Hobbits this time around, with Noah and Sebby showing off their terrific sense of humour with their costume ideas - and a hilarious video from Sebby, too! We were delighted to see our Seniors and Board- ers taking part, too! Brooke dressed up as Zero from the book “Holes”, a story which she fondly remembers reading with Mrs. Walbrin in the Jun- ior School. Jack dazzled us with his impersonation of Bear Grylls, keeping up his tradition of always blowing us away on World Book Day! Perhaps the most random costume idea has to come from Ol- ivia and Sienna in Year 6, who both decided (at 4pm on Wednesday!!) to dress up the next day as characters from Thomas the Tank Engine. The art- and-craft expertise shown by the pupils and their parents paid off, as the costumes were fabulous and both pupils brought some of the biggest laughs of the day. competitioN time Don’t forget to send in your entries for the 500 word 8th March 2021 creative writing competition. Send them to: The deadline is 8th March! jamal.babur@moylescourt.co.uk
As always, World Book Day wouldn’t be complete without the opportunity to see our beloved members of staff in costume, too! We were very, very impressed with Mr. Milner-Smith’s costume, as he impressed us all as “The Hungry Caterpillar” this year. Mrs. Corlett entertained the pupils as “Kira the Koala” (or Corlett the Koala, as she calls herself!) and we always look forward what hilarious characters Mr. Legg can con- jure up! In each and every classroom, the day was filled with laughter and we hope that lots of memories were made. We shall look back on World Book Day 2021 very fondly and with happy thoughts. Our pupils cap- tured that important spirit and magic of reading, and we hope that Thursday has inspired them to keep dis- covering new and wonderful stories to read and ex- plore. The photographs and videos speak for themselves, and you can view more of these on our Facebook and Instagram. Trust us, you won’t want to miss out! Mr. Babur World book day 2021
Year 3 - Weekly Review Year 3 this week have been brilliant! We have all had a super week creating adverts in our literacy lesson, they have come up with brilliant slogans and have started designing their adverts. I tasked them to recreate ‘A Starry Night’ by Vincent Van Gogh this week and they have produced some amazing paintings! I have attached some of these for you to check out. We had a fabulous day on Monday celebrating ‘Global Development Day’ and they enjoyed this off timetable day completing a range of activities and getting out- side on scavenger hunts and animal tracking. World Book Day was awesome! They all came onto teams dressed in their costumes and enjoyed complet- ing some of the activities and challenges that had been set. I am so proud of the whole class for the amazing work they have been doing over this term so far, remote learning is not easy and with the addition of a new teacher they have adjusted well and worked really hard! I can’t wait to get into the classroom with them on Monday!
Year 4 - Weekly Review Well Done to all of Year 4 for their incredibly hard work over the last ten weeks. Isla, Samuel, Evie, Jax- on, Coco, Max and Maximus, you have all been Bril- liant! Highlights this week include, Global development day, learning more about Fairtrade and Climate Change, dressing up for World Book day, writing Biographies and our own Autobiographies, paint- ing an abstract Spring, finding different areas in Maths, discovering Boudicca, taking a closer look at micro-habitats and making our own Where’s Wally pages. Arabella - Year 1 Home Challenge Activities
Year1 - Weekly Review Wow!! This week in year one has been a cracker! In addition, to having the most amazing last week of online learning taking part in GD day and world book day, we have been designing our very own fairy tales. This was one of the first times year 1 have undertaken the complete writing process from planning to final draft. I think you’ll agree they have produced some of the most amazing, creative and unique fairy tales. What steps did they go through to produce such amazing work; Firstly, we designed our setting, hero’s a villains. We then planned the main plot using story moun- tains. Thinking about our opening, dilemma, res- olution and that all important happy ending. Next, we started writing the stories and adding so much amazing detail from start to finish. Finally, we composed our final drafts and wrote up the stories ready to enter into the school 500 word creative writing competition. I think you’ll agree they are amazing. Stay tuned to see even more of their finalised stories in the coming days. Some budding, aspiring writers in the making I think you’ll agree!! Olivia Me. (Year 1) is on the hunt for footprints
Year 2 Weekly Review Well the work has continued with great enthusiasm from Year 2 in our last week of online learning! In Maths we are beginning to look at multiplication and division by using arrays to help formulate our number sentences. In Literacy we have been really focussing on sentence structure and how we can vary our sen- tences by using questions, exclamations, statements and commands, all in preparation for writing our own witch stories when we return to school next week. On Monday the class threw themselves into many of the Global Development day activities, searching out food with Fair trade labels/making dens/ scavenger hunts and creating some yummy food to eat- a big thank you to Mrs Benham from us all for organising this and helping raise awareness! In Topic we contin- ued to look at explorers and thought about what ex- plorers would need to take with them for a variety of expeditions from Deep Sea exploration to deserts! It was good to see so many well thought out ideas as to what was really important to pack! The whole class dressed up once more for Word Book day on Thurs- day -thank you to all of Year 2 and your parents for encouraging this and getting involved. Year 2 have worked tirelessly these past few weeks and must be commended for this. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all of the parents and grown ups involved who have helped the home schooling to continue. We know it has not been easy (!) but with your help and support education continued through- out which is wonderful! I look forward to welcoming you all back into class on Monday.
Boarding News Last Saturday the borders enjoyed another walk in the glorious sunshine. It’s amazing how quick- ly parts of the forest have dried up, although Miss Turner did still manage to get a foot stuck in some mud! (I was too slow to get a photo) Fun was had balancing on tree branches, soaring through the air on the rope swing, and of course, kilometres were added for the Moyles Court Summit Quest Race. Charity Annabel is clocking up the miles & is on target to com- plete her 120 miles for Bournemouth Food Bank! It’s not too late to donate! Please follow the link below to help her reach her target. https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-display/showROFund- raiserPage?userUrl=AnnabelMuller&pageUrl=1
