WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE TRIP Rishikesh although previously known for its religious significance, has grown into an adventure hub. If you are seeking to break your routine’s monotony with some adventure come along because we’re taking you river rafting and bungee jumping. Rishikesh is where the Ganges continues to flow beautifully. The water here is still blue like the drawings you made in your childhood. We are going to jump in the water and squeal, we are going to sit by it and have conversations, we shall watch a captivating aarti along it and we shall even sit beside it at night, in the quiet and listen to each other and music. There are going to be cheesy photos taken on the river banks, at the waterfalls and at every spot you can’t help but click! We are going to make new friends as we indulge together in thrilling sports, gaze at the pretty water and spend the nights indulging in fun and games. If you like to dance, we could do a mad Bollywood choreographed group dance on the road. Who wants to join us! While booking your flights/buses, please email us or call up Neeraj on 8592894040 and after he confirms the flight/bus to be booked, only then book it. DETAILED ITINERARY: March 6: Arrive at Rishikesh; river rafting Once the entire group arrives at the pick up point in Delhi on 5th, then we are on our way to Rishikesh. The essence of road trips, and of travelling is to not just rush from one point to another, not just check list every possible place, but to make the most of the journey as we go. It is about a 6 hours drive and one that’ll be full of games, music and conversations.
We will arrive at Rishikesh in the early morning. We are staying in this beautiful cottage resort right next to the river. It’s a little away from town, so we will be away from the maddening crowds. The property has a beautiful garden, and enough space for games like cricket, football and volleyball. It is very close to the river, so run to the water, and let the cold water run through your toes and feet!
Today we will try out the activity that Rishikesh is known for, river rafting! While the Ganga exists in varying forms across our country, rafting in Rishikesh is undoubtedly one of the prettiest forms to see it in.
Paddling upstream from Rishikesh along a 12km long route of rapids, our group will make our way across the stunning blue water. The thrill of the water in the beginning, the adrenaline as the rapids rise and fall, the squeals as we put our energy to paddle across the strong current and the laughs as we take a moment in between; river rafting is thrilling for first timers and even those who are doing it again.
In between we will jump in the water and swim. The cold fresh water will be our natural pool as we’ll splash each other with it and let ourselves soak in the water and the moment both. Then we stop at a point where we shall do cliff jumping. Don’t let the sight of the rocks fool you, the jump is actually 25 to 30ft deep. You can’t miss this experience! Meanwhile, this spot is also usually ready with friendly localities selling munchies and snacks. So, have a bite as all of us sit on the rocks together gazing into the pretty water. We shall return to our accommodation and relax after the adventure filled day. After freshening up, let’s head out to check out the local cafes. We must walk past Laxman and Ram Jhula at night. Lit up against the water the bridges make for a radiant view.
When we are back at the resort, there are evening snacks, a bonfire and music! Let’s party, play games and have conversations!
March 7: Bungee jumping. Aarti at ghats. Rishikesh is a mini adventure city and true to this characteristic it offers activities for the same. So, when in Rishikesh folks do every adventure sport it offers! Right? So, boys and girls are you ready to touch the sky? And hah jump across while hugging it with both your arms. We are going bungee jumping today. This isn’t part of the package, and anyone who is interested, can directly pay the organizers. There are more activities at the spot such as giant swings etc! The route to Jumping Heights is beautiful, with nice views of the Ganga!
India’s highest bungee jumping point, we’ll be jumping from a height of 83 meters/272 feet. The moment as you jump off the point, you feel your heart hammering against your chest, you feel the air around you on your skin, your adrenaline can’t help but kick in the exhilaration of it all makes you and screaaam with laughter. Not just an exciting sport, nestled in the green this one is a treat for the eyes too.
While Rishikesh is lately popular for its adventurous delights, it has always been renowned for its stunning ghats. The city has multiple ghats each of which perform elaborate and beautiful aartis every evening. With a row of pandits standing in formation, the aarti is performed in complete synchronization, along the banks of the river.
After our two days of complete adventure, witnessing the Aarti would allow us to reconnect with the old soul of Rishikesh. Take a moment, take in the quiet and let yourself take in the tranquility of it all. As the evening progresses we shall be back to our fun and games before calling it a night. Share a laugh with your new friends, gather around to hear some stories and make a lot of memories.
March 8: Neer Garh waterfalls. Drive back to Delhi; tour ends. It’s our last day and though we’re bummed about heading back already, Rishikesh still has something to offer to us. We shall wake up early today and head out to see the beautiful Neer Garh waterfalls.
A little over 5km from Laxman Jhula is the pretty Neergarh Waterfall (also called Neer Gaddu by the localities). The walk up to the waterfall is lined with trees and at the top is a natural pool. Jump in the cool blue water, take pictures in its pretty spots, dip your feet in the water as you sip on chai and nibble away on Maggie; this one is as picturesque as it seems.
We then start our journey back to Delhi and we shall reach by late night. It’s farewell, for now! We say farewell with lots of memories and stories to narrate instead of letting those Monday blues hit.
