    Julien Marinetti: “At the time, I was a neighbour with Tom Ford and Richard Burkley, and I
    sympathised with them. Tom Ford is one of the greatest geniuses of couture, artistic director
    of Gucci and Yves Saint-Laurent genius that needs no introduction. Richard and Tom had a
    little dog that we went for a walk from time to time, until in 2004, the day when Tom arrived
    at one of my vernisages crying and announced the death of their little companion “John” and
    offered me an Announcement death. From that day, I decided to create a little dog and the
    eternal & immortal animal diviner under the guise of “Doggy John”. ”

Julien Marinetti: “The first time I went to the hotel La Villa on the heights of Calvi, I was
amazed by the view from the hotel, the citadel, the sea... There was a fresh water pool that
mixed with the sea water and was one with the horizon. But for me there was something
missing, a presence. So I looked for an animal that could live in both salt and fresh water. The
idea of the duck came to me and Kwak was born.”

Julien Marinetti: “In 2011, it was a very nice meeting during the G20 in Cannes where a huge
businessman from Singapore, Mr. Leong, guest donor, asked me to make a panda sculpture
for his attachment to art and the animal in Endangered. The next day, I sent him my pre-
paratory sketches instantly and it was the start of a huge adventure in China, Singapore and
everywhere in Asia.”
