The DIRTcar General Rules will prevail for every aspect of the event. All rules can be found at www.dirtcar.com 2. General race procedures and event-specific guidelines are listed in this competitor guide and/or will be communicated at the driver’s meeting. Purse and Payoff: 1. Winnings for all events will be paid at the respective series command center at the conclusion of technical inspection for each event or the next day. 2. In the event a drive does not pick up their purse money after a completed event, checks will be mailed within one (1) business week after the event. 3. Contingencies and other special awards: Multiple awards and contingency awards will be in place for this event. All awards will be summarized and distributed. Please see the posted contingency awards and special awards notice at the command center. Decal placement is mandatory. Most contingency awards will be mailed to the team and/or driver by either DIRTcar Racing and/or the company posting the award. Results and Post Event Information: Results for events, once official will be available at the Command Center. Driver’s Meeting: A mandatory all division driver’s meeting is scheduled on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday in the turn two pit grandstands. It is the responsibility of the participant to be present for the meeting. Absence from the driver’s meeting may result in a penalty. World of Outlaws driver’s meeting will be held at the Command Center each day. Race Fuel: VP Racing Fuels will provide the official fueling center for the Sunshine Nationals. Please note the posted sales hours. Tires: The Hoosier Tire compound will be located in the outer pit area. Please reference the Competitor Notes for each division for the specific tire requirements for each division. Tire Disposal: There will be a roll-off container in the outer pit area for tire disposal. The container will be labeled. Dispose of your tires in the provided container. Any tires left in the pit area will be associated with a team and the team will be assessed a $25 per tire disposal fee. Driver Radios and Transponders: Driver Radios and Transponders are mandatory for all divisions, during all events including practice. Please be certain you and your car are equipped with both any time you go on the racetrack. Drivers can use either a MyLaps (red, gray, or black) or Westhold (yellow) transponder. We encourage the use of your personal Click Here to Pre-Register
transponder. DIRTcar offers rental units in the event command center. Please be aware, if renting, you will be required to leave your credit card information in exchange until the unit is returned. The driver radio frequency is 454.000. FM Broadcast: Announcers will be broadcast on FM radio channel 98.1 Feel free to listen to the event play-by-play each day. DIRTVision: Plan on your family and friends to follow along with all of the racing action on DIRTVision. All events will be broadcast live and free audio will be available on DIRTVision also. Two-Way Radio Transmission: Courtesy of Racing Electronics, series and officials will be utilizing radio frequency 451.9250 for on-track activity throughout the week. Please feel free to monitor the frequency to listen for updates for some good old-fashioned entertainment. Waste Oil: Please dispose of waste oil in the supplied waste oil tanks located throughout the facility. Pit Parking: Hauler parking will begin Wednesday (1/19) from 4 pm to 8 pm and resume at 11 am Thursday (1/20) morning. All haulers over 9’6” must be parked in the outer pit areas. Turn one/two reserved or non-reserved gator pond. Trailers and trucks under 9’6” may park in the reserved infield pit area (center road) or non-reserved back row. All personal vehicles must purchase a weekly parking pass at the pit gate ($40). Golf carts/ATVs/UTVs are not allowed to leave the pit area. If you must leave you will need to purchase a motorized vehicle pass ($40). Reserved Pit Parking (see parking form): There will be two areas of reserved pit spots. Contact Sam Driggers at 704-467-7786 to reserve. 1. The “Upper Pit Area” outside of turns one and two: Non-Cement Pads: $50 / Cement Pads: $100 2. Infield Center Row cement pads (9’6” high trailers or less): $50 Pit Camping: Race teams participating in the event may camp in the team hauler in the Gator Pond Pits only. (see Vehicle and ATV rules) If space permits, a team may “compound” with a camping unit provided the daily camping fee ($25) is paid. Camping Information: There are acres of camping available at Volusia Speedway Park in designated camping areas only. All camping spaces are dry (no hookups). Youthful Competitors: 1. The minimum age to compete is 14 years of age (provided proper documents are approved.) 2. All potential drivers 14 to 17 years of age must complete the minor release and be a member in good standing with DIRTcar Racing. 3. Any driver aged 14 or 15 may apply for the Youthful Driver Exemption by completing the packet available HERE. This is an extensive approval process and must be done prior to the event. Memberships: To compete at Sunshine Nationals, all drivers must be a 2022 DIRTcar or CRUSA member in good standing. Click Here to apply for a DIRTcar Membership online. You may also download the membership form to turn in at the event here. Anyone that is not a member may apply for a $20 temporary membership. Competitor Notes for 602 Late Models and Pro (604) Late Models Time Trials: 1. All teams will draw each night for qualifying order which will determine the number of time trial flights, the number of heats, and the number of participants in each heat. You will time trial, heat race, and LCS within your flight. 2. The number of groups will be determined based on the total number of cars competing in the event. 3. Qualifying will be flight A, Flight A & B, Flight A, B, & C, or Flight A, B, C, D depending on car count. 4. “Timed Hot Laps” will be your fastest time of 3 laps. 5. A driver missing his/her timed hot lap group will receive no time and start tail in assigned heat. 6. Heats will be lined up straight up based on qualifying. 7. If circumstances require a simple line-up, pill draw may be used: once the draw is completed, cars will be lined up with the #1 draw or lowest drawn number on the pole of the first qualifier, the #2 draw on the pole of the second, etc. Heat Race Line Up: 1. Heats will follow your flight grouping as explained above. 2. The number of qualifying heat races will be based on the total number of cars entered in the event. 3. Advancement: a. 24 cars or less - 24 car Feature i. 2 Heat Races ii. All cars transfer to the Feature. b. 25 to 48 cars - 26 car Feature i. 4 Heat Races - Top 5 transfer to the feature. ii. 2 Last Chance Showdowns c. 49 to 72 cars - 26 car Feature i. 6 Heat Races - Top 3 transfer to the feature. ii. 3 Last Chance Showdowns d. 25 to 48 cars - 26 car Feature i. 8 Heat Races - Top 2 transfer to the feature. ii. 4 Last Chance Showdowns 4. The balance of the qualified cars will line straight up behind the draw. Last Chance Showdowns: 1. Will be lined straight up based on your qualifying heat finish. 2. The number of transfers will be announced at the driver’s meeting based on car counts. 3. Heats 1 & 2 will be LCS 1, Heats 3 & 4 will be LCS 2, Heats 5 & 6 will be LCS 3, and Heats 7 & 8 will be LCS 4. Feature Line Up: 1. The winner of the final heat race will draw a number for the feature invert. 2. The balance of the qualified cars from the heat races will be lined straight up based on finish. 3. The LCS transfer cars will be lined behind the heat transfer cars, alternated by rows. 4. Provisional drivers will be added to the tail of the feature lineup if needed. Click Here to Pre-Register
Event Specific Rules: 1. In any event, you will be allowed up to two (2) unassisted cautions. After two (2) unassisted cautions you will be removed from the race. 2. Each race will have a time limit based on the number of laps. (Does not apply to WoO events) 3. All starts are side-by-side until the green flag is displayed. The pole-sitter sets the pace and will start the race in turn four (4) at the VP Racing Fuels Makin’ Power Point. 4. All restarts will take place in an area near the turn four (4) VP Racing Fuels Makin’ Power Point. 5. The leader is the control car on all starts and restarts. The pace that is set exiting turn two, is the pace the leader will maintain until the field is green. 6. All heat race restarts will be single file. 7. All Feature restarts will be DIRTcar double-file. Lapped cars will fall to the inside of the racetrack and drop to the tail during a caution. The last five (5) laps of the feature event will be a single-file restart. 8. If caution is displayed and you must go to the work area, you will not lose laps. You will only lose laps under green flag conditions. Caution laps will not count for this event. 9. DIRTcar double-file restarts mean after one (1) lap is completed, the leader is out front, 2nd place chooses inside or outside and 3rd place will fill the opposite. The balance of the field will line up in double-file order behind them, 4th place is always on the inside. 10. All races will end in a green-white-checkered finish. 11. One-way driver radios and transponders are mandatory. 12. When caution is displayed, please get into single-file order. You will be instructed over the driver radio if the lineup needs to be adjusted, when to line up double file and when the caution lights are out. 13. If at any time the red flag is displayed all cars must come to a complete stop. No cars will be allowed to move unless instructed by race officials. Failing to stop when instructed or moving without being instructed by a race official will result in immediate disqualification. 14. In order to be eligible for available contingencies, you must run the required decals. 15. Immediately following the conclusion of the event all transfer cars must scale. All cars must scale after qualifying. The top five (5) from each feature will scale, please enter the scale area in the order you finished. Technical Inspection: Be prepared for technical inspection at any point during the event. A mandatory pre-race technical inspection will begin at 11 am on January 20th. Note: there will be a post-race inspection in the designated inspection area following the completion of victory lane ceremonies. **Overall Event Champions** Points will be kept each night based on your feature or LCS finish. Important Rules & Procedures -All drivers must draw each day -Series Decals, available at pill draw and must be in place as illustrated prior to entering the race surface. -Drivers arriving late may be added to the group with least number of cars at discretion of officials. -AMB/MyLaps (red) Transponder must be used at all times and One-Way Driver Radio (454.0000) must be used at all times -All cars must be teched before the car can compete in any type of competition. -All Order of Events, Tire Rules, Lineups, Points, and Provisional Order will be posted at the WoOLMS Command Center. -If the Driver is not present at the drivers meeting for roll call, then the driver will only receive one (1) lap qualifying and the best it will be is 50%+1. -Heats will be lined straight up. (no inversion) within qualifying group. -All original starts will be side-by-side with the leader setting the pace and the front row starting the race. Restarts will be Delaware Double File except for the last five (5) laps of the Feature will be single file. -Cars out of line or jumping a start will result in a caution and being penalized one (1) row. -A yellow flag means your wheels aren't turning. If a car spins and creates a caution and you make contact and stop, you are also part of the caution. If you spin to avoid, you'll get your spot back If you spin and it creates a caution, but you keep going, you will blend back in the lineup. -In any event less than 50 laps, you will be allowed two (2) cautions. Events that are 50 laps or more, you will be allowed three (3) cautions. -We will only do a Green-White-Checkered Finish during the Feature only, if needed. -Hitting cars under caution or after a checkered will result in being parked for the balance of the event. -If you hit a car under caution and if it’s a multi-day show you will be parked for the weekend. -Crew members are not allowed on the track during ANY racing action - It will result in a DQ for that race -No Stick Signals will be allowed at any World of Outlaws Late Model Series Event. -There will be a 10-minute horn for Hot Laps, Qualifying, Heats and LCS. For the Feature the horn will blow at the 10 min 5 min 2 min and 0 mark. If you are not passed the cones that designates the location where you must present your car you are LATE. It is your responsibility to be in line on time NOT OURS. All cars will have to pass the designated staging zone before the 10 min horn has been sounded, if not you will go the tail. -Procedures and Penalties will be enforced as outlined in the 2022 World of Outlaws Late Models General Rules. -All transponders must be turned in after the event - for multi-day shows they may be turned in on the final night unless told differently at the drivers meeting. -If you fail to return a transponder - you will not receive a check until it is returned. If not returned you will be charged $500 -Payout will be after the feature or mailed within five (5) business days following the event -No tires to be left at the track.
