BIO-XTRA™: CORN SILAGE AND HAYLAGE INOCULANT There are many naturally-occurring bacteria in forage/silage that will allow it to undergo the fermentation process. Each bacterial species has a unique purpose and growing conditions under which they thrive, like particle size and moisture content. If a certain bacteria induces fermentation at 64% moisture content and environmental conditions are above BIO-XTRA™ I is a silage inoculant comprised of water-soluble bacteria for ensiling of silage crops. It is or below that level, the bacteria will still work, but at a slower rate. This can put your feed product at greater risk of designed to improve the digestibility of forages by reducing dry matter and nutrient losses, resulting in more spoilage. By adding a silage inoculant, you are ensuring a higher colony forming unit (cfu) of many different species dollars preserved in the bunker, silo, or bag. These advantages assist in reducing off-farm feed costs, and of bacteria. This helps reduce the impact of environmental risks that farmers face every year during chopping season, improve operational profitability. Bio-Xtra I is meant for ideal harvest conditions. and ultimately produces a high quality feed source for livestock. Beck’s offers a lineup of inoculant products for farmers interested in enhancing fermentation of haylage or corn silage. The BIO-XTRA™ products provide three inoculant options o Improves the efficiency of the fermentation process, which increases the preservation of nutrients and energy plus a mold inhibitor. content in silages. This results in improved milk production in lactating dairy cattle and weight gains in growing and finishing cattle. o Increases dry matter recovery in ideal harvest conditions, resulting in more tons of feed with greater fiber and starch digestibility. This translates into dollars saved through fewer purchases of external protein and energy feedstuffs. * Always harvest at the proper moisture, chop length, and maturity of crop. Use within one year of manufacture date. high moisture corn, and high moisture ground ear corn. It features a strain of E. faecium to improve starch digestibility, a blend of lactic acid bacteria to cover the range of pH changes during fermentation, and L. brevis for backend aerobic stability. It also helps speed fermentation and reduce dry matter loss and heating in the bunker. o Enzymatic activity from the fiber- and starch-degrading enzymes improve nutrient availability and energy conversion during fermentation and in the rumen, which research shows can positively impact milk production, average daily gains, and feed efficiency. o This product works well when coupled with BIO-XTRA, a liquid mold inhibitor, to provide further aerobic stability in the face of a variety of harvest, management, and environmental conditions. BIO-XTRA™ II is a forage inoculant comprised of water soluble bacteria and enzymes for ensiling of haylage, baleage, and other grasses. It is specifically designed for fermentation and preservation, and also helps reduce dry matter loss and heating in the bunker. The greater concentration of bacteria allows for a wider harvest window under varying conditions and a more rapid and efficient fermentation. o Maximizes the efficiency of the fermentation process by providing 2X the amount of beneficial bacteria, which increases the preservation of nutrients and energy content in silages. This results in improved milk production in lactating dairy cattle and weight gains in growing and finishing cattle. o Maximizes dry matter recovery at different harvest conditions, resulting in more tons of feed with greater fiber and starch digestibility, which translates into dollars saved through fewer purchases of external protein and energy feedstuffs. * Always harvest at the proper moisture, chop length, and maturity of crop.
