Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra Music for Youth Concert Series The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra performed in the Olean High School Auditorium during the school day on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 as part of the Music for Youth Concert Series. Elementary students from several area school districts attended for either a morning or afternoon session with the beloved philharmonic. The BPO is proud to present educational programming accessible to all students through live concerts, in-school programs, and digital resources. Each year they work to ensure their programs introduce students to the best orchestral repertoire, focus on music learning concepts being taught in the school classroom, and encourage active participation through interactive program elements. The presentation links music with other core disciplines, as well as learning standards to show how music education is intertwined with all areas of study, and provides an engaging and memorable experience through the magic of a live orchestra performance. What makes a successful performance at the BPO? The people! Students explore how each person has an important role in the BPO community, including the musicians, conductor, composers, and especially the audience! They learn how the instruments work together and investigate the roles of the conductor and the composer. This program encourages active listening skills that will show that a musical community succeeds when everyone works together. Olean City School District Newsletter 12
