The Central Indiana Dance Ensemble is committed to providing cultural and educational enrichment to the Central Indiana community. The Central Indiana Dance Ensemble will present dance performances, provide a vehicle for children to be trained in dance principles and give the opportunity to perform and train in dance at the regional level with other pre-professional dancers and teachers. Suzann Siler DeLay Founding Director Suzann Siler DeLay received her early dance training in California with Deane and Barbara Crockett, founders of The Sacramento Ballet. She went on to dance a variety of contemporary and classical roles while a member of The Sacramento Ballet. She also had a brief career with Pacific Northwest Ballet until injury forced her to retire. She has been fortunate to study with some of the master teachers of our time such as Violette Verdy, Robert Barnett Barnett, Robert Joffrey, Janet Reed, and David Howard just to name a few. Suzann appeared in several musicals including Princess and the Pea and Lil’ Abner. She has also appeared in several PBS specials in the California area. Suzann has taught, choreographed and performed throughout the United States, including the official School for Sacramento Ballet, and occasionally teaches for the Contemporary Dance Department at Indiana University. She brings with her a vast knowledge of classical ballet and has taught Ballet, Pointe, Variations and Pas de Deux to students six through adult. She also specializes in a creative dance program for children ages three through six. She has been recognized with numerous awards for choreography works in ballet and contemporary. In 1999, Suzann founded the Central Indiana Dance Ensemble, which is successfully celebrating their 21st season. Alumni of Central Indiana Dance Ensemble have gone on to professional careers with Ballet West, Dayton Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Nashville Ballet II, Nevada Ballet, Boston Ballet and North Carolina Dance Theatre. In addition, many alumni have been accepted with scholarships to top level summer intensives, residencies and universities. In 2009, she opened Central Indiana Academy of Dance to provide pre-professional training for the resident pre-professional company, Central Indiana Dance Ensemble, an honor company with Regional Dance America. In 2012 & 2014 Central Indiana Academy of Dance was awarded the Youth American Grand Prix “Outstanding School” Award. She has been honored by being on the cover of the December 2008 issue of Indianapolis Woman and was invited and attended the National Teachers Weekend at the School of American Ballet in 2010. She is the former President for the Mid-States Board of Directors of Regional Dance America. Trained in Cecchetti and Russian techniques, she was a student of the Crockett’s for many years and is dedicated to carrying on their teachings Suzann is an ABT® Certified Teacher, who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Pre-Primary through Level 5 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum.
Michael Casey Clark Co-Artistic Director Michael Casey Clark is originally from Fishers, Indiana. Casey started dancing at the age of 19. He attended Ball State University graduating with a BS in Dance Performance with a minor in Theatre. While at Ball State, he was encouraged to attend dance classes and audition for the Ball State Performing Dance Company where he was accepted as an Apprentice. A year later he became a company member. While studying at Ball State, he also performed with the Anderson Young Ballet Theatre, directed by Lou Ann Young. He received many scholarships and was the first to receive the Lynette Jordan Schisla Scholarship. At Ball State, Casey developed his choreography skills. He was one of several students to have their works adjudicated and performed at the American College Dance Festival, representing Ball State. Casey also choreographed many musicals at Ball State. “Dancing at Laughnasa” was adjudicated and presented at the American College Theatre Festival. He was also voted Best Student Choreographer. Casey has studied and worked with many outstanding choreographers and master teachers including Gail Gilbert (David Parsons Dance Company), Franciose Martinett (Joffrey Ballet), Sylvia Waters (Alvin Ailey), Trinette Singleton (Joffrey Ballet), Luigi and Twyla Tharp, just to name a few. Summer of 2003, Casey was accepted to the Glenda Brown Choreography Project in Austin, Texas, where he worked with Margo Sappington. Casey attended this project as a choreographer where he was inspired to create eight dances in thirteen days. Casey is very excited to be expanding his teaching and choreography responsibilities at Central Indiana Academy of Dance. Casey would like to thank Suzann DeLay for her insight and astute knowledge she has shared with him. Casey is an ABT® Certified Teacher, who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Pre-Primary through Level 3 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum. Casey is also certified to teach three levels of Progressive Ballet Technique.
Ashley Jacobs Co-Artistic Director Ashley Jacobs began her formal ballet training at the age of 10 with Suzann DeLay, and was a founding member of the Central Indiana Dance Ensemble. While with CIDE, she performed soloist roles such as the Sugar Plum Fairy, Snow Queen, and Rose in The Nutcracker, Alice in Alice in Wonderland, Cinderella in Cinderella, and Wendy in Peter Pan. While dancing Ashley attended summer programs with The Washington Ballet, Milwaukee Ballet, Boston Ballet, and American Ballet Theatre. Ashley attended the University of Utah as a ballet major, and in her sophomore year transferred to Indiana University to study in the Contemporary Dance Program, where she received the Jane Fox Dance Scholarship from the Kinesiology Department. While at IU she danced with The Ben Munisteri Dance Company of New York City, Connie Denapoli from Paul Taylor Dance Company and The Liz Lerman Dance Exchange of Washington D. C. In addition to performing, she was a featured choreographer in IU’s “Hammer and Nail 2008”. She has choreographed for the Central Indiana Dance Ensemble and was recognized at the Regional Dance America - MidStates Festival held in Indianapolis. Ashley has taught at many local studios, including Indiana University’s Pre- College Dance Program, and was an assistant teacher for the freshman dance major’s modern class at IU. Ashley is currently a supervising teacher for Butler University’s Ballet Department Pedagogy Major. Ashley graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Dance Performance. Ashley is an ABT® Certified Teacher, who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Pre-Primary through Level 5 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum. Ashley was also recently certified in all three levels of Progressing Ballet Technique.
Jillian Godwin Assistant to the Directors Jillian Godwin began her dance training in Indianapolis at Dance Magic Performing Arts Center and graduated from Broad Ripple High School, Center for the Performing and Visual Arts. While in high school, she competed in the Prelude Awards and was a finalist in the dance category in 2001 and 2003. Jillian danced as an apprentice for Dance Kaleidoscope for one season before she was promoted to dancer. She has also trained at Chautauqua Institution School of Dance in Chautauqua, New York, and American Ballet Theatre's Summer Intensive in Detroit. Recently, Jillian was accepted to River North Chicago Company's Summer Intensive, where she trained with Sara Bibik, Sherry Zunker and Laura Wade. She was one of only 33 dancers chosen nationally to attend the 10-day workshop. Most recently, she was named one of Indy's top ten most intriguing artists in 2012. She also had the honor of sharing the stage with Michael Feinstein, Liza Minnelli, and Rita Moreno at the 2013 Encore Awards Celebration held at the Palladium. She has also spent time at the Graham School in NYC in 2015 and 2016 on scholarship during their winter intensives. Jillian's mother, Donna, even in spirit, continues to feed her drive and passion for art, as well as her father Gregory, the DK family and David H. Jill recently retired from the stage after dancing for 17 seasons with Dance Kaleidoscope.
Anna Davis Youth Company Director Anna Davis began her training at the Maryland Youth Ballet under the instruction of legendary teachers, Hortensia Fonseca and Michelle Lees. She continued her training on scholarship at Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington, D.C., where she had the opportunity to perform the leading roles of "Cupid" in Don Quixote and "Clara" in The Nutcracker. In 2014, Ms. American Davissummer Ballet's attendedprogram the School of York City on full scholarship and in New was subsequently invited to attend the prestigious year round program. While there, she performed with the New York City Ballet, New York Choreographic Institute, and in the School of American Ballet Workshop. Ms. Davis was also one of the select students chosen to perform in the School of American Ballet's famed Lecture-Demonstrations, performing excerpts from Swan Lake, Jewels, and other Balanchine ballets. Ms. Davis also had the opportunity to teach young dancers at the School of American Ballet during the last two years of her training. Other training Ms. Davis has received includes summer intensives on full scholarships at Boston Ballet, Miami City Ballet and Carolina Ballet. Davis is also a 2-time Youth of America Grand Prix New York City finalist, performing classical variations from Giselle, Coppelia and Pacqita. In addition, Ms. Davis graduated Summa Cum Laude from Liberty University with an Associate of Arts Degree in 2018. Anna joined Indianapolis Ballet for its first full season in 2018 in the Professional Level Program before being named a Company Apprentice in spring 2019. During her first season, she has had the opportunity to perform at the Indy Fringe Festival, in Balanchine's Serenade, 4 Temperaments and Raymonda Variations, The Nutcracker, Carmen, Paquita and Swan Lake, as well as numerous community outreach programs including Indy Classrooms. In February of 2020, Anna was promoted to full company.

Lucy Devenney 2023 Graduating Senior Lucy Devenney is a seventeen-year- old senior at Carmel High School, where she is a member of The National Society. She will graduate in May with the Academic Honors Diploma as well as the AP Capstone Certificate. In the future Lucy will attend college where she hopes to pursue a double major in dance and biology. Lucy began dancing at Central Indiana Academy of Dance (CIAOD) in 2010 at the age of five. She joined Central Indiana Dance Ensemble (CIDE) in 2017. To supplement her training she attended Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet’s Summer Intensive in 2021 on a full tuition scholarship through Regional Dance America (RDA). Most recently, she attended Boston Ballet’s Summer Dance Program in 2022. Over the years Lucy has had the honor of performing a variety of roles in CIDE productions. Some of her favorites have been “Lead Marzipan” and “Dancing Doll” in The Nutcracker, the “Cowardly Lion” in The Wizard of Oz, and “A Stepsister” in Cinderella. This year, she is very excited to perform as “Snow Queen” and “Arabian” in The Nutcracker. She is also grateful for the opportunities she has had through CIDE to attend master classes, perform at RDA, and work with many talented choreographers such as Eddie Ocampo, Mauro Villanueva and Kenny Borchard, Stuart Coleman, and Ricardo Moyano and Regina Helmer Moyano. Lucy would like to thank all of the teachers at CIAOD who have instructed her over the years, especially Ms. Anna, Ms. Jill, Ms. Ashley, Ms. Coleen, Mr. Casey and Mrs. Suzann, for always pushing her to reach her full potential. She is especially grateful to Ms. Coleen, Mr. Casey and Ms. Suzann who have given many hours to private lessons with her where they have provided positive support and encouraged her to believe in herself. Finally, Lucy would like to thank her family, and her friends at CIDE, for supporting her and her love of dance for so many years.
OliviaDoan 2023 Graduating Senior Olivia Doan, a senior attending Westfield High School and a member of the National Honors Society, will graduate in May with an Academic Honors Diploma. She began dancing at Central Indiana Academy of Dance in 2010 and joined Central Indiana Dance Ensemble in 2018. Olivia is now in her fourth year with the Senior Company and has been given numerous opportunities to dance in a wide variety of roles with CIDE, including “Stepsister” in Cinderella; “Wench” in Peter Pan; “Mouse Queen”, “Snow Maiden”, and “Spanish” in The Nutcracker. In the 2021-22 season, Olivia choreographed “Fernweh” which was performed at CIDE’s Mixed Rep and RDA’s Emerging Choreographers Night. Along with her training at CIAoD, Olivia has attended Butler Ballet’s summer intensive in 2021 and 2022 and Regional Dance America’s choreography intensive in 2022. Olivia would like to thank all the teachers at Central Indiana Academy of Dance that have helped her grow and learn not only as a dancer but also as a person--Miss Jill, Miss Coleen, Miss Anna, and Miss Manuela. She would also like to give special thanks to Miss Ashley, Mr Casey, and Miss Suzann for believing in her and giving her all the support that got her to where she is today. At this time, Olivia would like to thank all her friends at CIAoD and CIDE for all their love and support that made her time at the studio and with the company a wonderful experience. Finally, Olivia would also like to thank her family for proving me with continuous and unconditional love.
Oriana Gonzalez 2023 Graduating Senior Oriana Gonzalez is a seventeen year old senior at Carmel High School who began dancing at her local recreational center in Virginia when she was four years old. She took a short pause from dance while moving from Virginia to Indiana but quickly continued her passion for dance and joined Central Indiana Academy of Dance in 2015. This is Oriana’s seventh year at CIAoD and her sixth year as a member of CIDE. Oriana is now in her third year with the Senior Company. Over the years, she has had numerous opportunities to be part of a variety of productions with CIDE and has enjoyed dancing numerous roles, particularly “Lost Boy” in Peter Pan, “Lead Morocco” in Cinderella, and “Myrtha” in Giselle. In The Nutcracker, Oriana has had the pleasure to dance the roles of “Chinese Tea”, “Bon Bon”, and “Demi Soloist” and now, in her senior year, “Snow Queen” and “Lead Arabian”. She has also had the opportunity to perform at Mixed Rep, Regional Dance American, and Penrod Arts Festival. She has enjoyed performing original works such as “Nicola” by Mauro Villianueva, “Dark Clouds” by Stuart Coleman, and several emerging pieces choreographed by her fellow classmates. Last summer she attended Joffrey Ballet Advanced Summer Intensive in Chicago and was offered a position in their pre-professional program. This spring, Oriana will graduate from CHS with an Academic Honors Diploma and in addition to studying ballet in college, she hopes to also pursue a degree in accounting. Oriana would like to extend a special thanks to all the teachers at Central Indiana Academy of Dance that have pushed her to continue her passion for dance - Miss Anna, Miss Jill, and Miss Colleen. Oriana would like to express a special thanks to Mr. Casey, Miss Ashley, and Miss Suzann who have supported her unconditionally over the years and helped her achieve her goals and aspirations. Oriana would also like to thank her family, especially her parents for being with her every step of the way and helping her grow into the person she is today. Lastly, she would like to recognize all her friends in CIAoD and CIDE: “Thank you for being my second family and making the studio my second home”.
Ava Juleen 2023 Graduating Senior Ava Juleen Ava Juleen is a senior at Westfield High School. She is a member of the National Honors Society. This June, she will graduate with an Academic Honors Diploma. At the age of three, Ava began dancing and has fallen in love ever since. She started at Performers Edge and soon realized ballet was her passion. She then decided to begin dancing at Central Indiana Academy of Dance in 2012 and joined Central Indiana Dance Ensemble in 2015. Ava is now in her fourth year with the Senior Company. Ava has performed in numerous CIDE productions including The Nutcracker, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, Snow White, and The Wizard of Oz. Over the years, some of Ava’s favorite roles in CIDE’s spring productions include Dormouse in Alice in Wonderland, Fairy of Grace in Sleeping Beauty, Winter Fairy in Cinderella and most notably, Dorothy Gale in The Wizard of Oz. She has also adored performing the roles of Clara, Lead Candy Cane, Arabian Coffee, and Snow Queen in The Nutcracker. This holiday season, Ava is honored to be performing Rose and Sugar Plum in her last production of The Nutcracker with CIDE. She is also extremely thrilled to perform her favorite spring production, Alice in Wonderland, to finish off the 2022-2023 season with CIDE. Aside from ballet productions, Ava has also performed at Penrod Arts Fair, Mixed Rep, and Regional Dance America. She has also gotten the opportunity to work with choreographers such as Eddy O’Campo, Mauro Villanueva, Jill Bahr, and Stuart Lewis. In recent years, she has attended Joffrey Texas, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, and Kansa City Ballet’s summer intensive programs to further her dance education. She was awarded scholarships at Regional Dance America for Joffrey Texas’ Summer Intensive program and Nashville Ballet’s Summer Intensive program. She has also taken part in Butler University’s High School Enrollment Program with the Dance Department. Ava hopes to pursue a double major of dance and exercise science in college. She dreams of becoming a professional ballerina and later in life, becoming a physical therapist to help dancers and other athletes. Ava would like to thank her parents and family members for the unlimited amount of support and love throughout the years. Without them, she would not be where she is today. She would especially like to thank Miss Suzann for the encouragement, love, guidance and belief in her to become the dancer she is today. . Finally, she thanks Miss Anna for her unconditional kindness and guidance for how to develop Ava’s artistry. She genuinely appreciates all the guidance from each and every one of her teachers to grow into the person and dancer she is today. Lastly, she would like to thank all her friends in Senior Company for all the laughs, tears, and joyful moments throughout the years.
Gabby Linton 2023 Graduating Senior Gabby Linton is currently a senior attending Carmel High School. This May, she will graduate with an Academic Honors Diploma. Gabby has been dancing at Central Indiana Academy of Dance since 2011, in 2015 she joined Central Indiana Dance Ensemble. This year is Gabby’s third year with the Senior Company. Throughout her time at CIDE, Gabby has had the chance to enjoy many opportunities as well as different roles in productions. Some of Gabby’s favorite productions have been The Nutcracker, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and lastly Alice in Wonderland. Some of Gabby’s various roles that she has enjoyed have been “Butterfly” in Alice in Wonderland, “Pirate” in Wizard of Oz, as well as “Fall Fairy” in Cinderella. In The Nutcracker she has enjoyed her roles as “Mouse”, “Clara”, “Snow Maiden”, as well as “Lead Chinese Tea”. This season Gabby has been given the opportunity to perform in The Nutcracker as “Lead Spanish Chocolate'', “Lead Russian Candy Cane”, and ''Snow maiden”. Gabby would like to thank the teachers at Central Indiana Academy of Dance who have shaped her into the person she is today, Miss Anna, Miss Coleen, Miss Jill, Mr. Casey, Miss Ashley, and Miss Suzann. She humbly appreciates their continued guidance through her dancing career, as well as their unconditional support. If it were not for these mentors, Gabby would not be the same person that she is today. Lastly Gabby would like to take the time to recognize all of her friends that have grown with her, in Senior Company. Gabby has appreciated and will never forget her years with CIDE. Gabby would like to thank Central Indiana Academy of Dance for being not only her second family but also her second home.
Taylor Ralston 2023 Graduating Senior Taylor Ralston is a Senior at Herron High School. She is a member of National Honor Society and will receive an Honors Diploma in May. Taylor is Vice-President of the Senior class, President of Riley Dance Marathon, member of Dance Honor Society, PR Executive in Achaean 80, and member of IPS Council. Taylor began dancing at age 3 at the Star Factory where she took ballet, jazz, and tap. After attending Ballet 101 at Butler at age 6, she fell in love with ballet . She began classes at Indianapolis School of Ballet in addition to Star Factory. At age 9, she chose to concentrate strictly on ballet. While at ISB, Taylor enjoyed participating in Balanchine pieces The Nutcracker, Firebird, Sleeping Beauty, Carnival of the Animals, Coppelia, Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Swan Lake. Taylor is in her second year at Central Indiana Academy of Dance and second year with Senior Company where she will perform Marzipan and Snow in the Nutcracker. Taylor has attended summer intensives at Pennsylvania Ballet, Boston Ballet, Indiana University, American Ballet Theater, and Sarasota Ballet. She was offered an apprentice at Sarasota Ballet but chose to stay and graduate with her class. Taylor would love to continue dancing in college, while also studying behavioral neuroscience in hopes that one day she can work for the FBI. She wants to thank all of her teachers for always supporting her goals, and for guiding her along the way.
Caroline Smith 2023 Graduating Senior Caroline Smith is a senior at Carmel High School. She began dancing at the age of three and joined Central Indiana Academy of Dance in 2012 and joined Central Indiana Dance Ensemble in 2015. Caroline is now in her fifth year with Senior Company. Caroline has been a part of various productions with CIDE including, The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Alice in wonderland, Snow White, Peter Pan and The Wizard of Oz. Over the years, some of Caroline’s favorite roles were White Cat in Sleeping Beauty, The Cowardly Lion in The Wizard of Oz and the Spring Fairy in Cinderella. She also enjoyed performing the roles of Demi Soloist, Arabian, Lead Candy Cane and Snow Queen in The Nutcracker. This winter Caroline is honored to be performing the roles of Rose and Sugar Plum Fairy in her last production with CIDE. In recent years Caroline has attended Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballets five week summer intensive and Joffrey Ballets five week summer intensive to further her ballet career. She hopes to become a professional ballet dancer in the future. Caroline is very grateful for the countless opportunities and learning experiences CIDE had taught her that she will cherish as she continues her dance career. She would like to thank all of the faculty but extend a special thanks to Miss Suzann for devoting her time and energy into helping Caroline towards her goals. Finally, Caroline wants to thank her parents for always supporting her to do what she loves.
