Congratulations to our own… Tonya Thomas Associate Program Officer LIBN Diversity in Business Award Long Island Racial Equity Collaborative OUR RACIAL EQUITY WORK The Long Island Community Foundation partners with community organizations to support strategies and activities designed to restore racial disparities and continue to promote upward mobility and equality for people of color. While individual investments have had some positive impact on individuals, the systems that perpetuate the inequities on Long Island have not changed. These challenges are larger than any one non-profit or foundation can solve alone. LICF believes that collective action, that includes funders leveraging relationships together with community advocates and the public/private sectors, is essential to dismantle longstanding structural and institutional racism. In 2018, LICF established the Long Island Racial Equity Donor Collaborative to leverage resources and expertise and support creative solutions that improve the financial health and increase economic opportunity for Black residents. We congratulate all the honorees who actively support the growth of diversity and equity on Long Island! The Long Island Community Foundation is a division of The New York Community Trust, one of the nation's oldest and largest community foundations. Our mission is to preserve and improve the quality of life for all Long Islanders by connecting charitable donors with nonprofits to make a healthy, equitable, and thriving community.
