ABOUT THE XPO The 2021 Canberra CareersXpo is hosted by the Rotary E-Club of Brindabella . with support from the ACT Education Directorate and incorporates 5 programs in one: CareersXpo, real skills for real careers, Indigenous Exhibition, School to Work and STEM Cell A new program, the Postgraduate Information and . Networking Session, has been added to the Wednesday evening opening time of 5pm to 7pm This program will be for anyone interested in postgraduate study . . HISTORY The Canberra CareersXpo is celebrating its 42nd year of operation The 2019 . two-day event attracted in excess of 8600 visitors and 100 local and national exhibitors This year we are expanding into the Coorong Building and the larger . venue will enable everyone to be under the one roof in a warm and comfortable environment . AIM The 2021 Canberra CareersXpo provides exhibitors with a target audience of upwards of 9000 students and adults looking for advice and information on current and future employment and careers options through apprenticeships, study and employment . Exhibitors come from a broad cross section of providers including Federal and State Government institutions (local and interstate), employer organisations, private colleges, apprenticeship centres and numerous individual businesses . We encourage recognition of the rapidly changing nature of the jobs market into the future, be it within the professional, business, trade, IT or emerging entrepreneurial arenas. The Canberra CareersXpo is a great interface for the showcasing or exchanging of ideas about future employment possibilities. 2021 CANBERRA CAREERSXPO | EXHIBITOR INFORMATION PACKAGE PAGE 1
WHAT’S NEW IN 2021? ¨ The CareersXpo will be open on Wednesday from 9.15am to 3.00pm. There will be a break from 3.00pm to 5.00pm on Wednesday, then the CareersXpo will recommence from 5.00pm to 7.00pm with the additional Postgraduate Information and Networking Session running concurrently in the Tea Tree Room located upstairs in the Coorong Building.. ¨ A bigger, better ‘School to Work Exhibition’ in the Coorong Building. ¨ The ‘real skills for real careers’ exhibition will be spread between the Budawang and Coorong Building. It will promote the STEM programs and building a skill’s culture by inspiring young people. Visiting students will be given the opportunity to experience VET-based trades and skills firsthand and to talk with experienced workers and staff. ¨ Exhibitors can offer short seminars onsite during the CareersXpo event. Use of the seminar room and audio-visual equipment is free. ¨ A Postgraduate Network Event will be held at 5-7pm, Wednesday 4th August 2021. Exhibitors can set up a table of information for prospective students. Exhibitors will be charged a small fee for the supper that will be offered to guests and exhibitors. Use of room is free if you are an exhibitor. WHAT’S HAPPENING IN 2021? ¨ ‘Job Opportunity’ board will advertise up and coming job positions and apprenticeship opportunities. ¨ The Indigenous Employment Exhibition raises awareness of career and education opportunities including support services available for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. ¨ The ‘real skills and real careers’ exhibition will again provide a hands-on and interactive display of STEM programs and an opportunity for students to try their hand at various skill and trade areas such as laying a few bricks, planting seedlings or making a mocktail. ¨ An informative and comprehensive Visitor Guide supplement is published in the Canberra Times on the Thursday prior to the CareersXpo. ¨ FREE internet access is available for all exhibitors using the Free CBR network. ¨ We are putting together an exciting new lunch menu in conjunction with the EPIC caterers that will include hot and cold options. Exhibitors can order their lunch each morning at the café in the Coorong Building. ¨ A larger Exhibitors’ Lounge will be located upstairs in the Coorong Building and will include the usual great coffee, tea, juice, biscuit, snack and fruit selections. Exhibitors can again avail themselves of the FREE expresso coffee made by our student baristas who will be supervised by the Lions Club of Belconnen. REGISTRATION AND BOOKING Registration and bookings can be completed via the electronic PDF which will be send out in the newsletter or downloaded from the CareersXpo website. Payment can be made by either credit card or direct deposit. BOOTH PRICES STANDARD BOOTH The standard booth is priced at $925 + GST and consists of a 3m by 3m area. The wall panels are 3m along the back and the side panels are 2m. Add-ons include power, an LED spotlight, tables, chairs and black tablecloths which can also be ordered via the electronic PDF. If booking more than one booth and you require power, then consider the option of including power in one booth only and using heavy-duty tagged extension cord/s for your other booth/s requirements. DELUXE BOOTH The Deluxe booth is available for $975 + GST. This includes the area of 3m by 3m with either a 2m or 3m separation wall. The Deluxe booth has a header board in an aluminium frame on all open sides of the booth similar to the image below. Your organisation name or other wording (max 30 characters) chosen by your organisation printed on the header board(s) using black vinyl-cut UPPERCASE lettering is an optional extra (see below). Picture is for illustration purposes only, furniture not included ADDITIONAL HIRE ITEMS FOR ALL BOOTHS Table - $20 + GST, chair - $8 + GST, black tablecloth - $20 + GST Power Outlet 4 amp - $50 + GST, Power Outlet 10 amp - $75 + GST Light (150W LED Floodlight) - $55 + GST Name of your organisation on header - $50 + GST per header board. (The name of your organisation can only go on the header board if you have ordered a Deluxe Booth. WHITE OR BLACK FOGA MELAMINE BOOTHS The FOGA booths are used for the majority of the booths in both the Budawang and Coorong buildings. No pins or tacks allowed on the black or white FOGA panels. BLACK CLOTH PANEL BOOTHS The black cloth panel booths are located around the perimeter of the Coorong building. There are no restrictions on the methods used for attaching material to these panels. You can use the standard Velcro dots and strips as well as pins and tacks. COVID SAFE PROCEDURES There may be restrictions on this event in accordance with the guidelines put out by the ACT government and we will keep you updated through our newsletters and the website. We will have a COVID safe plan for the event. The restrictions may encompass smaller numbers of students in the venue at any one time; more detailed COVID safe cleaning procedures; ensuring COVID safe physical distancing; and requirement for each exhibitor and visitor to check-in via the CBR app. It is recommended that exhibitors have a COVID safety plan written down covering their booth space and how they will manage student and staff movement; cleaning procedures; and have a bottle of COVID compliant hand sanitiser on their stall table. EXHIBITORS LOUNGE For the comfort of exhibitors, the more spacious Pelican Room upstairs (with lift access) in the Coorong Building has been designated as the exhibitors’ lounge. FREE cold drinks, tea, coffee, juice, fruit, muffins, snack bars and biscuits will be available. The pod coffee machine will be there again in 2020 for use by exhibitors. Exhibitors can also avail themselves of FREE expresso coffee and hot chocolate made by the enthusiastic team of student baristas under the close eye of the Lions Club of Belconnen. The free expresso coffee will be available from the COFFEE SPOT located in the café in the Coorong Building. FACILITIES There is a café on site that offers a range of hot and cold food and beverage options. If required, there is also limited storage available for materials. LUNCH ORDERS Lunch and beverage options can be ordered and paid for each morning at the café in the Coorong Building. Lunch delivery available for booths with limited staff. Hospitality students will again be visiting all booths in the morning and afternoon to deliver tea and coffee. ACCOMMODATION If you are looking for a place to stay, there are a number of websites worth considering to book accommodation in the nearby suburbs of Dickson, Watson and Lyneham. i.e. www.booking.com and www.expedia.com.au SET-UP TIMES Tuesday: 3.00pm to 7.00pm, and Wednesday: 7.30am to 9.00am. PULL-DOWN TIMES Thursday: 2.30pm to 5.30pm. Please note:The Budawang and Coorong Buildings must be cleared of all Exhibitors equipment and gear by 5.30pm Thursday.The security and safety of any items remaining on the premises after that time cannot be guaranteed. FIRST AID There will be a first aid officer on duty on Wednesday and Thursday. CLEANING Exhibitors are responsible for removing all their materials and props and for leaving the site in a clean state. Please dispose of all rubbish in the bins provided. INSURANCE Exhibitors are required to provide proof of their public liability cover. Minimum amount required is $20 million. Proof of cover needs to be submitted before the event via bookings@careersxpo.com.au If proof of cover is not supplied by COB Friday 23 July we will automatically cover your organisation and your organisation will be charged for this service. POWER CORDS All power cords/boards to be heavy-duty and tagged. INTERNET Internet coverage is FREE again this year. If you require internet cover, please connect to FreeCBR. No access code or password is required as it is a public network. REST ROOMS Toilets are located near the entrance to the Budawang and Coorong Buildings. ACCESS/LOADING DOCK Exhibitors may park in the car park in front of the Coorong Building or at the rear of the Budawang Building during bump-in. Exhibitors may park in front of either building during bump-out. DELIVERIES If you have any boxes to be delivered before the event, please put your name and booth number on the boxes. Deliveries are accepted on Tuesday, 3 August 2021. Please stress to your contractor that it must be delivered on Tuesday 3 August. If your consignment can only be delivered on Monday 2 August, please contact Allison Dohnt at EPIC on 6205 4900.
