       FULL-TIME
The Circus and High School Studies program (CES) allows
young people between the ages of 12 and 17 to undertake
intensive circus arts training while pursuing their secondary
studies at the National Circus School.

This program leads to a high school diploma (DES) awarded by the Quebec ministère de
l’Éducation et de l’Enseignement supérieur and prepares the candidate for advanced
       training in circus arts.

The language of instruction is French and includes all subjects required by the Quebec
secondary teaching syllabus.* Students also receive technical and artistic training in the
main circus arts disciplines, dance and acting. The schedule includes 25 hours of academic
subjects and 18 hours of circus arts instruction per week, taught alternately in the morning
and afternoon. Students have many opportunities to integrate their artistic learning by
performing in front of an audience.

       CANDIDATE PROFILE
Candidates must have already begun preparatory training in circus arts or dance, or
practiced an acrobatic discipline or martial art on a sustained basis. They have developed
several physical and psychomotor skills and demonstrate artistic sensitivity and creativity.
Prospective students also possess the qualities of autonomy, determination and discipline.
They must have completed primary school or started high school and achieved the level
preceding the one to which they wish to be admitted. Candidates must have a good

PREPARATORY PROGRAM

       PREPARATION
       FOR ADVANCED
       TRAINING
       EXTRACURRICULAR
This program is aimed at young people between the ages
of 9 and 17 who wish to practice circus arts in an ongoing
manner while pursuing elementary or secondary studies
       at an outside educational institution.

Students develop their full potential through training that also prepares them to enter the
Circus and High School Studies or postsecondary circus arts programs.

They are offered 13 hours of training per week on evenings and weekends. The program
focuses on basic circus and performing arts disciplines along with solid physical
       preparation.

       CANDIDATE PROFILE
The School focuses on the candidates’ potential relative to their age. They therefore must
demonstrate certain physical abilities such as agility, strength, flexibility and good
coordination. Applicants frequently practice a circus or martial art, acrobatic sport,
dance, or another physical or artistic activity.

       ADMISSION
A student may be admitted at any time upon submission of an application. The candidate
also can apply to participate in the official Entrance Examination or pre-selection screening
held during the National Pre-selection Tour (details on page 13).

       RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES
Several courses are offered to introduce young people between the ages of 4 and 17
to the basic techniques of several circus disciplines. For the most dedicated, Accro
Cirque-Plus or Specialists courses provide 5, 7 or 9 hours of circus instruction per week.

                                                                 Fall, Winter and Spring sessions
