ELO Chairman English is a universal language that makes it possible for people around the globe to communicate. Consequently, learning English is a crucial necessity these days. It is becoming increasingly vital for children to start learning English at a young age. That is why people worldwide decide to study it as a second language. It is the most commonly spoken language in the world. It is the language of science, computers, diplomacy, and tourism. It is the key to establishing productive cross-cultural communication. It enables people to successfully adapt to the challenges of the fast changing environment, utilize advanced technology, and access the incredible amount of information available online. The concept of the English Language Olympia (ELO) was designed to be a direct incentive for the participants to build their English language skills. The focus will be on learning English in a fun environment by forming teams that will work together to come up with creative solutions for the ELO topics. Participating teams will compete to improve their language skills, provide community service through a project that fulfills the goals of the ELO title and develop teamwork skills through working in groups. The great success of the Olympia in its previous years was a result of the participation of a large group of the local and international private and public educational institutions of both the local and international systems, as well as the sponsorship of nearly 60 companies, local, and international educational institutions for this event. This success was a great incentive to proceed confidently toward the 2018 Olympia that is expected to attract about 150 teams/1300 students from around the world this year. Finally, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to all the sponsors and supporters from the private and public sectors from inside Jordan and abroad who made the ELO a great success over the past years. We are fully aware that Arabic is our mother tongue that we cherish and are proud of. Dr. Majed Hamad

Letter of Recommendation from the US. Embassy Embassy of the United States of America 15 October 2017 To Whom It May Concern: The Regional English Language Office (RELO) at the United States Embassy in Amman, Jordan has enjoyed longstanding partnership with the English Language Olympics and its General Manager, Dr. Majed Hamed as one of the sponsors of last year's Olympia, the RELO was pleased to see participants from throughout the region compete in a variety of events that promoted English language, intercultural communication, teamwork, and community service. The English Language Olympia also provides an excellent forum for educators to promote interactive teaching and learning of the English language. Indeed, last year's Olympia enabled dozens of English language professionals to network and share ideas they could bring back to their schools across Jordan and other countries in the Middle East. I am sure the next English Language Olympia will be highly useful and successful in further motivating youth in the region and around the world in their study of English. Sincerely, Roger F. Cohen Regional English Language Officer United States Embassy, Amman, Jordan

Recommendation The English Language Olympia was the first of its kind on the educational world map to integrate the cultures of different peoples with a single educational vision. The Olympia combines English learning with cross cultural knowledge through the use of technology, scientific research skills, communication, and teamwork. This can only be achieved through the collective efforts of all concerned institutions, whether educational or civil society institutions. We wish that the ELO becomes a permanent platform for the countries of the world and continue to be successful to reflect positively on the performance of educational institutions, educators, and students.
