2020 CSR commitment 5 Board of Directors Statement STATEMENT OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF NATRA ON THE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY OF THE COMPANY As company managers, the members of the Board of Directors of Natra feel responsible for preserving and enhancing the heritage of the company, which is very essential part of the committed relationship to the different actors involved in it and to the society in general. By this declaration, the Board wishes to engage, and thus compromise the management team of the company, to promote transparent and regular reporting regarding Natra’s actions in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility, as well as to define and align both present and future initiatives within the company’s strategic plan. Taking for granted and without exception the compliance with applicable laws and existing commitments, the Board has defined as main lines of Natra’s CSR plan the following areas: Environment: contribution to a better quality and healthier environment through the control and reduction of water and energy consumption (including transport), as well as of the waste of raw materials, finished products, containers, packaging and office supplies in each of the production plants and administrative offices, encouraging the adoption of environmentally friendly technologies. Raw materials: active commitment to a sustainable supply through programs that ensure products traceability and long-term harvests, with special emphasis on the abolition of all forms of child or forced labour. Healthy nutrition: focus on the search and use of healthy ingredients in accordance with the advances in knowledge on human nutrition. Working conditions: increasing talent retention within the company, through training programmes that encourage internal promotion and recruitment policies that seek gender balance at all levels of the company. The five production plants and administrative offices of Natra are now in developed countries but, shall Natra in the future have a subsidiary in a country where labour laws seem insufficient, the development of an internal legislation that mitigates the possible shortcomings in labour protection will be a condition precedent. Society: extension of the company’s liability with suppliers, customers, consumers and the communities related to our scope of business. Actions taken in each of these five areas and any others deemed appropriate to add will be published annually, regardless of any additional communication about any particular aspect. However, cocoa must undoubtedly be considered as Natra’s specific raw material, responsible for establishing the company’s identity. The graph below shows Natra’s main raw materials by purchase volume. It is difficult to express the same classification in euros, as raw materials prices fluctuate considerably, and particularly those of cocoa.
