Y CAMP 2020 BLAST TO THE JUNE 1 THROUGH PAST! AUGUST 7 Why Y Camp? What makes Y Camp stand out from other day camp programs is its comprehensiveness. Y Camp keeps kids physically active through games, sports, and pool time. Creativity is sparked and learning is promoted through crafts, skits, camp songs, literacy activities, and STEAM projects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics). Character is developed through our Y Ties Initiative, conflict resolution skill building, and by instilling the Y’s Core Values (Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, and Caring) throughout the day. That’s just the tip of the iceberg! Each week is a new and exciting adventure, jam-packed with tons of fun activities that appeal to a wide range of interests and abilities. Now, more than ever, the Y recognizes the need for the continued support of our campers’ academic success while out of the classroom. This summer, the Y is fully committed to combatting the summer slide! Each morning, campers will participate in fun and enriching academic challenges and activities. These STEAM and literacy-based projects have been designed to exercise your child’s mind and enrich what they have learned in the classroom, while still providing the fun, high-energy camp experience that the Y is known for. Raising the B.A.R. in Camp! We’ve raised the “B.A.R.” at Y Camp! Your camper will feel a sense of Belonging, where they will feel comfortable expressing their individuality in a safe and respectful environment. They will feel a sense of Achievement as they develop new skills and realize their passions and talents. They will build Relationships with their Y-Leaders and fellow campers that inspire them to reach their full potential. These important elements are interwoven throughout all camp activities and lay the foundation for everything we do. 1

Please prepare for sign-in to take longer this year as we prioritize safety over speed. • Campers, staff, and volunteers must stay home if they feel ill or exhibit signs/symptoms of any communicable illness during wellness checks. While these signs/symptoms may be experienced by individuals with conditions that are not communicable (e.g., allergies), government guidelines dictate that childcare centers should not admit an individual displaying these signs/symptoms nonetheless. 4

LASVEGASYMCA.ORG YMCA MISSION IN ACTION FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE We believe strong communities are possible only when we invest in our kids, our health, and our neighbors. This is done by providing high-quality, affordable programming that is accessible for all. Thanks to the generous support of donors, the Y is able to ensure that no one is turned away due to the inability to pay – as long as funds and space are available. Visit a Y or our website for more information about our Camp Financial Assistance Program. Inquire early as it can take up to 10 business days for us to approve your application. PAY IT FORWARD As a community-driven charity, we encourage children and adults of every age to give back. Ask about how to volunteer, make a donation to the Y’s Annual Campaign so you can “Pay It Forward,” or leave a family legacy by joining our Heritage Club. Every contribution, no matter how small, has the power to strengthen the community we all share. FOOD SERVICE PROGRAM SUMMER | Meet Up To Eat Up No child goes hungry at the YMCA! Each day, hundreds of children across Southern Nevada are served a FREE, nutritious cold lunch and afternoon snack through the Y’s Summer Food Service Program. Should your camper prefer to pack their own lunch and/or afternoon snack, they can place the free food on our sharing table for other campers to enjoy. In accordance with Federal Law and US Department of Agriculture Policy, this institution is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability. Y CAMP 2020 BLAST TO THE PAST! CAMP THEME Time travelers unite! Dr. DeLorean has returned from the future and was surprised to see how society will forget so many character values that were learned throughout history. She’s now seeking brave travelers to embark on an expedition through time to absorb these values and carry them into the future. Guided by Time Keepers, Time Travelers will spend each week in a unique era in time, working together to solve riddles and complete challenges that will test their knowledge of that era’s character value. With the value instilled within them, the Time Travelers will return to the present with an artifact to prove their mission has been completed. Careful, though, because the journey will not be easy. The Time Thief wants to be the only one with the power to bend time and space, so they’ll try to stop you at every turn. Do you have what it takes? The future is in your hands! TRADITIONAL DAY CAMP | AGES 5-15 Traditional Camp is so much more than just a place to go when school’s out for the summer. At Y Camp, campers have fun, develop skills, and gain confidence through games, swimming, sports, crafts, educational activities, character development, and so much more. During the summer, children lose up to 30% of knowledge gained during the school year. Therefore, we incorporate fun literacy and STEAM-based activities to combat the summer slide and advance your child’s learning. CAMP AGE GROUPS The YMCA of Southern Nevada offers the following traditional camps all summer long, Monday - Friday from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Campers are divided into smaller groups based on their age, so that they are paired with similarly-aged peers and can enjoy developmentally appropriate activities. Each Y may group campers differently and reserves the right to regroup campers as needed. Campers must meet the group’s age requirements by the last day of camp. Please speak with the Camp Director if you have a special request in this regard.
