Welcome back to St Andrew’s Sport for another exciting year of Sport. This year looks like it will once again be a year of wonderful participation and exposure to great sporting opportunities both during school and also before and after school hours. I encourage as many students as possible to get involved in sport at the College and make the most of what it has to offer. The St Andrew’s Primary School Sport Program is made up of four different strands • Curriculum Sport afternoon (compulsory) • Co-Curricular Sport (non compulsory) • Representative Carnivals • Inter House Sporting events Contained in this booklet is information on: 1. Curricular Sport (during school time) 2. Co-Curricular Sport (before, after and weekend sport) A few reminders for 2021 1. All students will require their Red sports uniform for their Sport afternoon • Year 1 and 2 each Wednesday: 1:45 – 3:00pm • Year 3 and 4 each Friday: 1:45 – 3:00pm • Year 5 and 6 each Monday: 1:45 – 3:00pm Students are permitted to wear this uniform to and from College. Students will require their coloured House shirts for HPE lessons. 2. All students are required to have a hat and water bottle for Sport and HPE. 3. SPORT AFTERNOONS for 2021 All students In Year Prep – 6 will participate in a Sport afternoon. Year 1 and 2 each Wednesday 1.45pm – 3pm Students will take part in 2 sports per term throughout the year. They will participate in one Sport for 4 or 5 weeks of the Term and then participate in a separate Sport for the remaining weeks of the term. All students will participate in 8 different Sports throughout the Year. This year all students will rotate through the same sports in each year level as we encourage students to experience a range of different sports Prep students will not participate in Sport for Term 1 and Term 2. They will commence their Sport afternoon in Term 3. The following are the Sport arrangements for 2021 – please note that these are subject to change.

Year 5 and SPORT AFTERNOONS in 2021 Year 5 - 6 (each Monday) 1.45pm – 3pm Students who are representing the College in Netball, Basketball Water Polo, Touch, Football or Swimming for the College are encouraged to train in their sport during their Sport afternoon. This is training with specialist coaching staff. This is encouraged but not compulsory as we recognise some students will like to try other sports. In Term 1, there are additional coaching sessions after school for Netball, Water Polo, Saints Rugby, Basketball, (starting Term 2) and Football teams, which are compulsory for students who are representing the College. Sports are chosen each term (via online forms) and students are given their first choice wherever possible. Please note that we are limited in the number of students who can participate in some sports. Students who are not representing the College are encouraged to consider playing Sport for the College and may opt for any sport. In Term 4 our Year 5 and 6 students take part in the St Andrew’s Cup which is a House Competition involving competition in Water Polo, Tennis, Football, Basketball, Touch, Netball, SPORT OPTION CHOICES with the link to submit choices will emailed to all families

The House system is very strong at St Andrew’s and our students revel in Inter-House competition. 3-6 House Cross Country Carnival against other Sunshine Coast Independent schools There are a number of other Cross Country events throughout the year.. The House Cross Country takes place towards the end of Term 1. The event takes place at the College with the course also incorporating the St Andrew’s Cup - Term 4 whole College grounds. Students run in their age groups from Under 8 through to Under 12,. All 8, 9 and 10 years old run 2km. P-2 House Athletics Carnival The P-2 House Swimming Carnival will take place at St Andrew’s Aquatic Centre at the end of Term 1. This is the culmination of Year 1 and 2 Swimming class lessons. Preps are also invited to the event All students in P-2 participate in events and fun relays to enjoy the day from 9am - 12pm P-2 House Cross Country Carnival The P-2 House Athletics Carnival takes place towards the end of Term 2. All students in P-2 participate in sprints, relays and obstacle races and much more. It is a super fun non competitive day P-2 House Swimming Carnival The P-2 House X-Country Carnival takes place at St Andrew’s in term 3. All students in P-2 participate in suitable distances that allow students to run all the way and is spectator friendly. This year we will also incorporate an inflatable instance course. Please note all P-2 Carnivals are Non competitive and ribbons are not awarded or presented. The focus is on participation and encouraging students to achieve end perform at their best. .
SPORT REPRESENTATION 2021 for students turning 10, 11 or 12 in 2021 Last year an incredible 130 students from St. Andrew’s were selected to represent the Independent Schools in various sports. Many went on to represent the Sunshine Coast and subsequently Queensland 1. Independent Schools District Rep - Students can be selected to represent the Independent District (a representative team from 10 other Independent Schools). Teams compete at the Regional Championships for the Independent District. 2. Sunshine Coast Regional Rep - Students are able to be selected in the Sunshine Coast Regional team to compete at the Queensland Schools Championships. 3. Queensland Rep - Students can then gain selection form these Championships to compete at the Australian Schools Champs for Queensland Schools. Selection is available to all 10, 11 and 12 year olds in Cross country, Athletics and Swimming. All other sports are generally for students turning 11 or 12. Selection is available in 11 and 12 yrs Netball, Boys and Girls Tennis, Boys and Girls Basketball, Boys and Girls Football, Rugby Union, Boys and Girls Touch Football, Boys and Girls Hockey, Triathlon, Aquathon, AFL, Softball, Rugby League and Cricket We will endeavour to get as many students as possible to the selection trials, but numbers are occasionally restricted at trials, in which case, a decision will be made by the Sport Department as to who will attend. Co-curricular SPORT Opportunities include: The College has a very full Co-currcular Sport Program for students to engage in activities throughout the Saints Rugby, St Andrew’s Football, St Andrew’s Netball, St Andrew’s Surfing St Andrew’s Tennis, St Andrew’s Touch, Co-curricular Sport is considered any Sport that takes place before St Andrew’s Volleyball, St Andrew’s Basketball, St Andrew’s Sailing, school, after school and / or at weekends. St Andrew’s Cricket, St Andrew’s Water Polo, St Andrew’s AusKick St Andrew’s Equestrian, St Andrew’s AFL Primary students are encouraged to get involved in a wide range of activities and opportunities at various times throughout the Year. There are often additional costs with many of these opportunities

TOUCH FOOTBALL We are delighted to be entering teams in the Coolum Touch Competition in Term 1, 2021 This takes place at Peregian Fields commencing at 4pm each Tuesday afternoon. The season concludes at the end of Term 1 This is for both boys and girls and we will look to create teams at U10 and U12 age groups. Water Polo We are delighted to be entering teams in the Sunshine Coast Competition in Term 1 and Term 4 in 2021. This is brand new. Year 6 tams are also eligible to enter teams in the Secondary Schools competition in Term 3 This takes place at St Andrew’s Aquatic Centre commencing at 4pm each Monday afternoon afternoon. Basketball 2021 Running Club 2021 Basketball is one of the very first sports to start their season and you can sign up to play for St Andrew's. In 2021, we are delighted to be playing this year at the Maroochydore Clipper competition Other schools include in this competition are Pacific Lutheran College, Matthew Flinders Anglican Collage and Sunshine Coast Grammar School The competition takes place during the week and plays through 1 and Term 2. More details will be available shortly as the information comes form the University. Training: will be held at St Andrew’s Times to be confined The wonderful St Andrew’s Running culture continues in 2019 each Tuesday at Cost: Once we have confirmed the teams - players will then be required to 7:15am. register online No fees are to be paid to St Andrew's. The cost for the 17 week season is approx. $260 We will once again be holding the St. Andrew’s Running Club at the College each Tuesday morning. This opportunity is available to all students in Years 2 - Uniform: Students are required to purchase College Basketball Shorts from 6. Students are required to meet on the College oval at 7.15am. Play Football at St Andrew’s FC in 2021 After a wonderful 2020 season - we are delighted to see the return of St Andrew’s Football Club in 2021. There are exciting times for the Football program as we look to evolve, grow and thrive. The club will play in the Sunshine Coast Federation Competition which plays each Saturday morning in Term 2 and Term 3. Last year was absolutely superb and we are looking to enter teams at U6, U7, U8, U9, U10, U11, U12 , U13, U14 and U15 and older age groups. We are also looking to nominate a number of Girls teams and build on the wonderful enthusiasm shown by our players. All students from Prep – Year 6 are welcome to nominate to play for St Andrew’s Football Club in 2020. Training will commence in Term 1 Training also takes place in the Year 5/6 Sport afternoon. The games are played each Saturday morning and could be played from anytime from 8:00am and 1:00pm at a variety of venues from Noosa to Caloundra, dependent on the draw. Play Netball in Term 1 and 2 - 2021 With the success of the 2020 season behind us, we are now looking forward to the first centre pass due be taken very soon this season. All our Primary teams competing in Term 1 and Term 2 in the Coolum District Netball association Junior Fixtures on a Tuesday / Thursday afternoon/ evening commencing in February. Year 2, 3, 4 teams will compete each Tuesday afternoon at Coolum Year 5 and 6 teams will compete each Thursday at Coolum Training: All Year 3-6 teams will train each Wednesday afternoon at Coolum from 3.30pm – 4.30pm. Bus transport is provided. Cost: Will be approximately $285 for the season. Saints RUGBY 2021 Saints Rugby competes in the Sunshine Coast Junior Rugby Union competition alongside clubs such as Noosa, Maroochydore, University, Maleny, Eumundi, Brothers and Caloundra, Flinders and Sunshine Coast Grammar. Saints Rugby is independently run from the College and we support students to play for the club. The club has its own committee and encourages students not attending St Andrew’s to also play. This is open to all Prep - Year 6 Boys and Girls! The competitive season this year will begin for Saints on the first Saturday in Term 2 and we are once again hoping to field teams at U6, U7, U8, U9, U10, U11, U12 each Saturday. The season concludes towards the end of August with a break during the June / July holidays. The games are played each Saturday morning and could be played from anytime from 8:00am and 1:00pm at a variety of venues from St. Andrew’s to Caloundra. St Andrew’s Surfing St Andrew’s Surfing for our Primary students continues to grow and evolve. Students and families are encouraged to get involved and can register their interest here: There are a number opportunities in Term 1, Term 2 and Term 4 for Primary students Micro Groms at Noosa Beach for beginners. This is run by Go Ride a wave Super Shredders for students who have moved on from beginner level. This level is targeted at Year 3 and 4. Little Frothers Surfing for Year 5 students. Froth Monsters for Year 6 Surfers. All squad locations/times are updated the day before the squad is scheduled on the St Andrew's Surf Team facebook group. Welcome to the St. Andrew’s Tennis Academy Term 1 2021 Our Tennis Program continues to thrive and all students are able to join hots shots sessions, squads as well as have private lessons. The College enters a number of competitions including: Noosa District Tennis competition Brisbane International Red ball, Orange ball and Green ball challenges. There are also friendliest and trips each year. All coaching classes will start in Week 2 week of Term 1. Equestrian Team St Andrew’s has an Equestrian team which competes at a number of events throughout the year and all riders are very welcome to get involved. St Andrew’s hosts the St Andrew’s Invitational Showjumping event each year in May and students are encouraged to get involved and represent the College. AFL in 2021 will focus around our Involvement in the AFL Queensland Schools Cup. Our Year 5 and 6 Boys teams and our Year 5 and 6 Girls teams will compete on in Term 2 with Regional rounds taking place after this. Auskick for Prep - Year 3 students is an 8 week program takes place in Term 3

Students in Year 3 and 4 will undertake a Sailing program. Students in Year 5 and 6 6 are able to opt for Sailing during their Sport afternoon. The activity takes place at Noosa Yacht and Rowing Club on the Noosa River. No experience is necessary and this opportunity is available in every Term. Teams are also nominated to compete in the Sunshine Coast Schools Champs held in May each year. Students are also encouraged to contact Noosa Yacht club for information on holidays camps and additional opportunities to further enhance their Sailing.
