Kitchens have evolved to be a
place for more than just
cooking, they're a living space
for socialising and dining,
lounging and living.

A progression from open plan, which we’re
designing more and more, is broken plan,
which introduces zones to open plan living to
create more intimacy.

The evolution of open-plan living continues but
it is less about one big space and more about
the clever use of it, such as using different
floor finishes and changes in level and semi-
permanent partitions like bookcases, distinct
areas, or zones for cooking, studying and
relaxing.

Incorporating wood will add
warmth, texture and character.

The trend for natural timbers will continue in 2019,
with more design possibilities and styles than ever
before, and as wood is such a versatile material, it
works perfectly well in both contemporary and
classic designs.

Dark stained veneers are increasing popular,
following the trend to move to darker tones in the
kitchen, and a dark wood looks striking with a
dark colour scheme, like the ultra matt black
doors here, combined with dark stained oak.

Natural oaks are timeless and work particularly
well for breakfast bar seating, matc hing
effortlessly with painted cabinetry in more
traditional designs and staying contemporary in
modern designs where the tall units can be
matched with the same oak finish.

Open shelving, glazed
display cabinets and
modular units allow your
personality to shine.

The trend for display units is more popular than
ever before, with both contemporary and
traditional designs having numerous design
options. Simple open shelves are timeless and
practical and work particularly well in Shaker
kitchens.

Industrial style modular units in black steel look
striking in contemporary kitchens and can be
incorporated with both wall and base units.

A beautifully designed display area will create
a unique and personalised space which will
add character and individuality to your kitchen.

2019 STYLE GUIDE The latest styles and trends from the world of kitchens - imgix
Shaker style kitchens are still
one of our most popular
kitc hen c hoices. It ’s not
surprising, given their timeless
style, understated elegance
and classic design.

For 2019 our newest Shaker styles have
slimmed down, in keeping with a more
modern aesthetic, door styles are slimmer
and simpler.

The style works especially well with key
colour trends like lavender grey and deep
heather, as well as all shades of grey and
especially industrial styles, which mix
classic and contemporary.

MIXING
METALS
Mixed metals are a key trend
for 2019. You can create
striking focal points with
brass doors, handles and
accessories.

There’s something so sleek about a brass
finish, shining elegantly with a golden
glow, it evokes opulence and luxury.

Copper has had a resurgence in recent
years and the trend shows no sign of
slowing down. The key is matching it with
complementary colours like deep blues
and greens and dark greys.

Patination is an emerging trend certainly
worth your attention, a stunning finish can
be created using kitchen door fronts in
patinated metallic finishes such as
burnished brass, oxidised copper and iron.
GOING FOR
  GOLD
For the ultimate in opulence it’s
hard to resist the glamour of gold.
It simply oozes sophistication.

Gold looks equally stunning when used as an
accent or as the focal point of your kitchen.
The key is getting the right texture, our latest
door styles are painted in such a way to
create a beautiful mid-sheen so the elegance is
understated. Reserve the polished gold
finishes for taps and other accessories.

To create a cosy and atmospheric space
combine gold with darker colours like green,
brown and black. The darker shades will
enhance the dramatic gold tones.

Lighting is key to create the right mood and
truly show the gold in the best light, opt for
task lighting and dimmable under counter
LED’s, so the lighting can be set according to
the time of day.

You'll want to spend a lot of time
in your kitchen, so it is important
to incorporate products that aid
and enhance the positive feeling
that wellness has on a space.

Creating areas of soft seating and the
inclusion of plants and herbs are simple ways
to compliment a wellness theme.

The inclusion of design elements inspired by
nature are shown to enhance the feeling of
wellbeing in a space. Natural timers, stone
and the inclusion of appliances that fulfil the
needs for healthy living, like filtered water
taps and steam ovens ensure a space is
functional, stylish and relaxing.

EXTRACTION
Extractor fans can look like
statement lights, be hidden
behind doors or pop up from the
worktop.

From a planning perspective, creating a design
that looks stunning but is functional too is often
determined by factors such as extraction.

Steam and odours gather as a natural result of
cooking, so the placement and choice of
extractor fan is crucial.

The latest high tech extractors have sensors that
detect steam levels and air quality and adjust
the power accordingly.

Our favourite innovation is the downdraft
extractor, which removes the need for a wall or
ceiling mounted extractor, the latest models
incorporate the extractor with the hob.
