Back by popular demand Simplyhealth Professionals Ski Conference Back by popular demand we are once again hitting the slopes from Saturday 12th to Saturday 19th January 2019. Taking place in Obergurgl, Austria; 1930 metres above sea level and one of Tyrol’s most beautiful Alpine villages. We will be taking over the superb four star Hotel Edelweiss & Gurgl, which is positioned right in the heart of the idyllic resort. The hotel has ski in/ski out access to stunning skiing for all levels, with the main lift for the village directly outside the hotel. There will be an amazing six days of fantastic skiing, masses of après ski, as well as fascinating daily clinical seminars. The Skiing You will be enjoying six days of skiing (or snowboarding) in the stunningly picturesque village of Obergurgl which has a rustic and charming ambience. It is surrounded on all sides by a magnificent mountain panorama formed by 21 peaks and over 3000m altitude. You will be in the heart of the action. The main lift is just outside the hotel which also offers ski in/ski out access. Your lift pass will also cover the Hochgurgl area which is connected to Obergurgl via the Top-Express Gurgl lift. The gondola only takes nine minutes to connect you, giving you even more piste to explore, including the mogul slope at Top-Wurmkogl if you dare! The Hotel Hotel Edelweiss & Gurgl We pride ourselves on the quality of our venues and the Hotel Edelweiss & Gurgl excels with its high standards of cuisine and service. Owned by the Scheiber family since it was built in 1889, the hotel has a fantastic prime location right next to the Gaisberg and Rosskar ski lifts. You can be first on the slopes in the morning and come the afternoon, just step out of your skis and on to the terrace for an après ski drink! Once you have returned from the slopes you can then either retire to your cosy bedroom, or relax in the Glacier Spa. The spa is an oasis of 1200sq metres of saunas, steam rooms, fitness suite and indulgent treatment rooms, to soothe aching muscles and ready yourself for the next day’s adventures. The Conference As this is a Ski Conference, we do also have to take you off the slopes to attend CPD lectures. GDC registered delegates will be able to claim up to six hours of verifiable Ski-PD. Lectures will take place from Sunday to Friday and will be delivered by some great speakers. The last lecture on amalgam? – Louis Mackenzie This lecture aims to provide an update on the rise and fall of amalgam, focusing on the contemporary indications and clinical techniques for amalgam restorations. The erosion explosion! A practical guide to the MI management of erosive tooth wear – Louis Mackenzie This lecture will provide a practical overview of the latest clinical techniques for the minimally invasive management of patients with erosive tooth wear using direct composite. Porcelain veneers 2019 – Louis Mackenzie This lecture aims to provide an update of the latest materials, equipment and clinical techniques for aesthetic diagnosis, planning and treatment of patients using porcelain veneers. The Conference Ion Man! Radiography and Radiation Protection Regulations – Louis Mackenzie This lecture will provide an update on the regulation of radiography and radiation protection in general dental practice. (IRMER subject) Quiz Night! – Louis Mackenzie A verifiable CPD quiz hosted by Louis Mackenzie and aimed at testing ski conference delegate’s dental and general knowledge. Day and Evening Activities Fancy Dress Day: Join in the fun by wearing fancy dress for a day and watch the whole mountain come alive with characters. Solden Ski Away Day: For a change of scene you can head to Solden for the day. This Alpine Ski World Cup venue is one of Europe’s most renowned ski and snowboarding resorts. The rest of the group will join you in the evening for dinner and drinks in this vibrant town. Nederhutte: Voted as one of the top 10 après bars in the Alps, this is one experience not to be missed! There will be live music from the in-house band Die Nederlumpen, drinks, dancing and even a free skidoo back down to town, if you don’t fancy skiing back! Night Walk: Join us for a walking tour of Obergurgl. Find out about the villages history and how it became one of the internationally renowned ski areas of today. Obergurgl: We will be exploring what the local area has to offer, not only are there cafés and bars it also hosts Obergurgl famous Josl Keller nightclub. Zirbenalm: Located next to the Steinmann-Bahn chairlift, surrounded by the beautiful pine forest above Obergurgl, the Zirbenalm is the new après-ski hotspot in one of the best resorts in the Alps. 2019 Ski Conference Rates This year you will be able to choose the exact room you would like to book for the conference. The costs for the conference will depend on your chosen room type. Each room has limited availability and we be allocated on a first come first served basis. All conference rates include: • Seven nights accommodation in a superb four star hotel • Extensive hot and cold buffet breakfast • Four course evening meal with a choice of main, daily salad and cheese buffets • Flights from Gatwick, Birmingham, Manchester & Edinburgh • All flight supplements • Transfers between Innsbruck airport and the hotel • Six days of conference lectures • Six hours of verifiable CPD • Six day lift pass including Solden • Après ski at the Nederhutte • Arranging your hire of ski or snowboarding equipment • Arranging your ski or snowboarding lessons • Arranging pre-flight airport accommodation • From booking to the slopes, personalised events support to deal with any queries or questions The Important Small Print 1. On your booking form you will be able to choose your top three bedroom choices. If all three of your bedroom choices are not available when your booking is processed the Events Team will contact you to discuss options that are available. 2. Due to availability at the hotel we unfortunately have a limited number of standard single rooms available to us. We only have four in the main building and three allocated in one apartment with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you are planning on attending on your own, we may be able to pair you up with someone in the same situation. Single supplements are no longer available on twin rooms. Extras Equipment Hire We can arrange equipment hire on your behalf for the conference. This will be an additional charge to the conference rate. Equipment can be easily collected on the Saturday when you arrive and comes in four standard levels. January 2019 costs are not yet released by the ski hire company but the prices below are for the costs (exc VAT) in 2018 as a reference guide. Extras Group Ski Lessons If it is your first time on the slopes we can arrange for you to join us at a ski school. Prices are not yet confirmed for 2019, so the 2018 times and prices are below as a guide when selecting what you would like to book. As with the equipment hire, as soon as the 2019 prices are available I will email you to confirm the cost of the ski lesson you have chosen, confirm times and take payment. Ski school is usually four hours a day, Sunday to Friday. It runs from 10:00-12:00, with a break for lunch and 13:30-15:30. If you are a complete beginner you will need to attend the school Sunday and Monday; more advanced skiers can join the group from Tuesday, if there is availability. Your flight cost has been included within your conference rate package. Terms and Conditions • This event is subject to availability, numbers are strictly limited and are on a first come first serve basis. • Conference costs quoted are per person and exclude VAT. • We will allocate your room in your preference order, subject to your availability. If there are no rooms available you have requested the events team will call you to discuss available options. • If you are coming on your own and all the single room have been allocated you will be asked to share with another delegate. • As places are strictly limited, no provisional bookings can be accepted. Deposits can be paid by monthly report or you can request a member of the events team to call you to pay by credit card.
