MBRC 2019

Welcome - Season 2019

On behalf of the MBRC Staff, Committee and Coaches, we look forward to welcoming all new and returning members as you sign up over the next months. Please join us and
contribute to our club’s rich history as we support your journey by developing your life and snow skills in season 2019.

The season of 2018 started slowly but by the time term 2 School Holidays came around, there was plenty of snow to start the program and provide most of our athletes with their
first taste of snow since the great snow of last season. We did not look back as the mountain was blessed by more snow through the season and our athletes were exposed to great
training programs delivered by the Coaching Group and MBRC staff. With the significant support of snow technology by Buller Ski Lifts and cooperation by mother nature we will be
confident of another great start and season in 2019.

As a member of the MBRC community you will enjoy many benefits in addition to what is learnt on snow. Please read the following information carefully as we outline some of these
benefits and provide you with information that is important to signing up for next season’s programs.

We are entering an exciting period at MBRC as we work together to
roll out our recently completed strategic plan. Enjoy the following
months as you go on Summer Holidays and Northern hemisphere
snow action if you are fortunate to find yourself there.

Sincerely,

Richard Haslau
Program Director

CONCUSSION
MBRC will enter a new phase of concussion management for all program participants in season 2019. We will fully adopt the advice and protocols outlined in the latest
concussion information from the Australian Medical Association ( AMA ) and Ski and Snowboard Australia. (SSA)
The Mt Buller Ski Patrol, Medical Centre and Doctors at the centre will all be up to date on this information from the AMA and work closely with the club to ensure the safe
management of an Athlete should a serious concussion have occurred.
With this in mind, the reality is that your child may in fact miss training and returning to snow for a minimum of two weeks or more. If training is missed due to concussion
only, MBRC will endeavour to offer replacement training at a time that MBRC is offering normal training in the regular season or during Spring Training.
There will be no refunds available due to concussion or any other injury. We recommend that you consider insurance to provide cover if a concussion or other injury results
in your child missing training.
All athletes coming back from a concussion or any other injury will enter into a return to snow program that will be assessed and created on a case by case basis in
conjunction with a Medical Practitioner and MBRC’s medical advisor.

PHYSICAL LITERACY

Dryland Training
Out of season dryland is expected to run every Sunday morning in term 1, 2 and 4 and is included in your
program fees. Private and group training can be arranged at other times through our program partner
Snow Performance.

During the season, full time athletes attend regular dry land training.

The focus of Physical training will move away from testing to correct movements and education.

Sports Psychology
All members will have the opportunity to attend programmed Sports Psychology sessions during the
season. Sessions are tailored to the age and experience of the athletes.

Sports psychologist Susi Martin has a long history with the club and will be based full time on the mountain
to deliver programmed group sessions and is also available privately on request.

Nutrition
Athletes will be educated on the importance of good nutritional decisions. At all times, athletes will be
encouraged to drink and bring water to training and have snacks that are healthy and relevant to being in
an outdoor environment whilst participating in a demanding sport.

advancement plan.
Further, athletes are expected to communicate with the coaches on all aspects of the program plan, to wear team uniform
whenever directed by the coaching staff, to behave in a fashion that brings credit to themselves, team and program, to show
respect for fellow athletes, coaches and officials, and to respect the decisions of the coaching staff.

A CLUB OF ORGANISERS AND VOLUNTEERS
In the upcoming season, MBRC will be hosting the Buller Cup and the King of the Mountain series.

To be able to keep costs low and to provide a high quality race organisation, where our coaching staff are only responsible
for the athletes, MBRC needs the help of each family!

MBRC trusts your support in regards to the club´s commitment to organise race events for your children. According to
our Volunteer Policy, a parent of a member is required to volunteer at least once per season; volunteer positions will be
allocated by the office. With your application you agree to fulfil this volunteer duty or find a replacement.

MBRC requires all volunteering parents to hold a Working With Children Check in 2019. Let´s work together and enjoy the
sport as a family and club!

RACES AND GATE TRAINING
All MBRC members signed up for a program have the opportunity to race in MBRC club races free of charge. These include the Karbon Buller Cup, and the King of the Mountain
Series which includes three races (KOM excludes masters participants).

Gate training with the program is also included in your program fees and any other Gate training or additional training is organized with the Mt Buller Ski and Snow Board School.

Within our programs you will experience the following elements:
- MBRC Ambassador program which provided great insight into where the MBRC program has taken our athletes on
  the world stage
- Modern coaching techniques that incorporate on snow and off snow feedback through video analysis, group and
individual technical discussions and a curriculum which provides the framework for learning.
- Exclusive access to the MBRC SX/SBX start gate, which is situated at the top of the Skyline T-Bar
- Exclusive access to full-length race training courses
- Race support at on- and off-mountain competitions
- Greater emphasis on physical literacy including club provided dryland training

SKI & SNOWBOARD AUSTRALIA (SSA)

Ski and Snow Board Australia (SSA) is the National Body for Alpine Skiing and Snow Boarding in Australia and is affiliated with the world
body , Federation Internationale De Ski (FIS).

Their role in Australian Alpine sports is to “Support athletes and develop Champions” and do this by providing support and tools for our
club to achieve this. MBRC is fully affiliated and aligned with the National body (SSA) and more recently has adopted the recent initiatives
and vision that SSA has implemented.

From an Alpine point of view, these initiatives have been developed as a result of the Alpine review driven by SSA Alpine Director Mick
Branch and similar initiatives that will also be rolled out by SSA for Snow Boarding through Head Snowboard coach Jason Clauscen.

Some of the SSA programs that MBRC participate in during and out of season are; Skills assessment, Children’s Carnival for U14 and U16 Athletes, Physical Literacy camps,
Futures for Snow Board and FIS Races for Alpine athletes older than 15 (FIS Age Group).

SSA Membership for the 2019 season has yet to be determined and will be the responsibility of parents to sign their child up for membership and to access any of the
programs that SSA provides like the ones mentioned in the paragraph above.

For further information, please check the SSA website and download the Alpine, Skicross and Snowboard Handbook.

MBRC SPONSORS 2019
The MBRC wishes to welcome all the new and returning sponsors for the 2019 & 2020 seasons.
Both Mercedes Benz Waverley and Buller Ski Lifts now occupy the coveted platinum sponsorship. We wish to personally thank both these companies for their ongoing support
of the club and look forward to working closely with them over the next two years.
Through all our sponsorships, we are able to provide athletes with a welcoming and professional club environment that allows them to excel in both skiing and snowboarding,
make lifelong friends and strive for individual greatness.
We warmly welcome our returning and new GOLD sponsors. You will recognise some of them and their logos as long time supporters of MBRC. Our GOLD sponsors for 2019
 and 2020 are:
 			Mogul Ski World Whispir
Last Frontier Heliskiing Mark Adams Real estate
 			RSDC Quest Apartments & Hotels
 			Mach1 Panels Snow Performance
Through the generosity of all these companies, we are able to ensure that the Mt Buller Race Club is and remains one of Australia’s largest and most successful ski & snowboard
 club.
For those of you who may wish to join our SILVER sponsorships program, this is still open to members to participate in the coming two years. This opportunity ensures your
logo is recognised on our website, on the podium banner for presentation, allows you to market your goods or services through our communications platform and ensures
members recognise your support to the club.
For further information, please contact the club directly to discuss.
