2. ADMINISTRATION 2.1 All Competitors must be 40 years of age or older as at Saturday 20th April 2019 to be eligible to compete. 2.2 Eligible Classes & Licences CLASS or DIVISION LICENCE REQUIREMENT WEIGHT REQUIREMENT TYRE REQUIREMENT KA4 Senior Light As per KA Class Rules At 160 kg Dry – Prime Tyre KA4 Senior Heavy As per KA Class Rules At 175 kg Dry – Prime Tyre KA3 Senior Light As per KA Class Rules As per KA Class Rules Dry – Prime Tyre KA3 Senior Medium As per KA Class Rules As per KA Class Rules Dry – Prime Tyre KA3 Senior Heavy As per KA Class Rules As per KA Class Rules Dry – Prime Tyre TaG 125 Light As per KA Class Rules As per KA Class Rules Dry – Prime Tyre TaG 125 Heavy As per KA Class Rules As per KA Class Rules Dry – Prime Tyre TaG 125 Restricted Light All Licence Grades As per KA Class Rules Dry – Prime Tyre TaG 125 Restricted Medium All Licence Grades As per KA Class Rules Dry – Prime Tyre TaG 125 Restricted Heavy All Licence Grades As per KA Class Rules Dry – Prime Tyre Open Performance As per KA Class Rules As per KA Class Rules Dry – Prime Tyre 2.3 Opening & Closing of Entries a) Entries will open on 15/03/2019. b) Pre-Entry for this Meeting will close at midnight on Sunday 14/4/2019. c) Entries will be accepted at the track for this Meeting from 9.00am up to 12.00pm Friday 19/4/2019. 2.4 Entry Fee The Entry Fee for each Class at this Meeting including GST and TDF Levy is as follows: a) Pre-Entry Early Discount Fee: $220.00 per Entry b) Pre-Entry Early Discount Fee for a second Class by the same Driver: $120.00 per Entry c) The Early Discount Entry fee is paid via credit card only through Karting Australia’s Competitor Management System (CMS). • There is NO transaction fee payable. d) The ‘standard’ Entry fee (payable at the Track): $240.00 per Entry e) The ‘standard’ Entry fee for a second Class by the same Driver (payable at the Track): $140.00 per Entry 2.5 Entry Procedure a) Each Entry for this Meeting must be made using CMS as follows: • Log on to your driver information via http://www.karting.net.au/ • Click on the licence and entries icon (top centre of the screen) • Click on the “Enter a Race Meeting” icon • Enter your log on details • Under ‘My Details’ functions, choose ‘Pre-Enter Race Meeting’ • Choose the State in which the Meeting is being held • Choose the Grafton Sporting Car Club - the Organiser of the Meeting b) The Entry Fee may be refunded in accordance with the Rules or if a Class or Division is cancelled. c) An Entry for this Meeting may be accepted or refused in accordance with the Rules. 2.6 Minimum Entries a) If less than six (6) entries are received for a Class or Division, Drivers entered for that Class or Division may be notified and the Organiser may either: i) Combine the Class or Division with another Class or Division; or ii) Not offer the Class or Division. b) Oversubscribed Classes - Oversubscribed Format to be discussed. 2019 AUSTRALIAN KART MASTERS PAGE 4
2.7 Administrative Checking, Transponder Numbers, Chassis and Engine Seals a) In lieu of an Administrative Checking session, an official entry list, including transponder numbers, will be posted on the Official Notice Board on the afternoon of Friday April 19th 2019. b) It is the responsibility of the Competitor to ensure that all information on this list is correct. Any inaccuracies and discrepancies are required to be notified to the Chief Timekeeper no less than 60 minutes prior to the start of Practice for their respective Class. c) Chassis and engine seals will be issued when a completed scrutineer form has been handed into the Race Secretary during the nominated times. 3. COMPETITION 3.1 Competition Format a) Practice: There will be one eight-minute Practice session. b) Qualifying: There will not be Qualifying for any Classes at this event. c) Racing (Non-Feature Classes): All Classes with less than twelve entries. The system of gridding for the all Classes and Divisions will be as follows: Heat 1: Grid Positions will be allocated by Random Computer Gridding. Heat 2: Grid positions will be the reverse of Heat 1 grids. Heat 3: The Driver with the lowest accumulated points from Heat 1 and Heat 2 (calculated in accordance with Regulation 3.1f)) will start on grid position one (1). Heat 4: The Driver with the lowest accumulated points from Heat 1, Heat 2 and Heat 3 (calculated in accordance with Regulation 3.1f)) will start on grid position one (1). Final: The Driver with the lowest accumulated points from Heat 1, Heat 2, Heat 3 and Heat 4 (calculated in accordance with Regulation 3.1f)) will start on grid position one (1). d) Racing (Feature Classes): All Classes with twelve or more entries. The system of gridding for the all Classes and Divisions will be as follows: Heat 1 Grid Positions will be allocated by Random Computer Gridding. Heat 2 Grid positions will be the reverse of Heat 1 grids. Heat 3 The results from a “Pole Shuffle” will determine the first 50% of Grid positions. i. The winner of the last Pole Shuffle Race will start on Grid position one (1) ii. The winner of the second last Pole Shuffle Race will start on Grid position two (2) iii. The winner of the third last Pole Shuffle Race will start on Grid position three (3) and so on. iv. The loser of the first Pole Shuffle Race will start on the last Grid position of the first 50% of Grid positions. The remaining Grid positions will be determined by the lowest accumulated points from Heat 1 and Heat 2 (calculated in accordance with Regulation 3.1f)). Heat 4 The Driver with the lowest accumulated points from Heat 1, Heat 2 and Heat 3 (calculated in accordance with Regulation 3.1f)) will start on grid position one (1). Final The Driver with the lowest accumulated points from Heat 1, Heat 2, Heat 3 and Heat 4 (calculated in accordance with Regulation 3.1f)) will start on grid position one (1). e) Racing: Oversubscribed Classes The Class will be divided into two groups by age. The youngest 50% will go into Group 1 and the eldest 50% into Group 2. The system of gridding for both Groups will be as follows: 2019 AUSTRALIAN KART MASTERS PAGE 5
Heat 1 Grid Positions will be allocated by Random Computer Gridding. Heat 2 Grid positions will be the reverse of Heat 1 grids. Heat 3 The results from a “Pole Shuffle” will determine the first 50% of Grid positions. i. The winner of the last Pole Shuffle Race will start on Grid position one (1) ii. The winner of the second last Pole Shuffle Race will start on Grid position two (2) iii. The winner of the third last Pole Shuffle Race will start on Grid position three (3) and so on. iv. The loser of the first Pole Shuffle Race will start on the last Grid position of the first 50% of Grid positions. The remaining Grid positions will be determined by the lowest accumulated points from Heat 1 and Heat 2 (calculated in accordance with Regulation 3.1f)). Heat 4 The Driver with the lowest accumulated points from Heat 1, Heat 2 and Heat 3 (calculated in accordance with Regulation 3.1f)) will start on grid position one (1). Final The Driver with the lowest accumulated points from Heat 1, Heat 2, Heat 3 and Heat 4 (calculated in accordance with Regulation 3.1f)) will start on grid position one (1). Super Final The Driver who places 1st in the Group 1 Final will start on pole Position. The Driver who places 1st in the Group 2 Final will start in position 2 on the grid. The 2nd placed Driver from Group 1 will start in position 3 on the grid and the 2nd placed Driver from Group 2 will start in position 4 on the grid and so on until the grid capacity (22) is reached. f) Point Score for Grid Procedure: The following point score system will be used to determine the second 50% of the Grid for Heat 3; and the Grid for Heat 4 and the Final. i. 1st= 0 Points, 2nd = 2 Points, 3rd = 3 Points and so on with one (1) being added to each place. ii. Non-finishers will be awarded a finishing position based on the number of laps completed. iii. If a driver fails to make the start, they will be classified in grid order behind the number of starters in that race. iv. If a driver is Excluded from a Heat Race, they will be awarded points equal to the number of entries in the Heat of that Class or Division plus one (1). v. In the event of a tie on points, the lower grid position will be awarded to the Driver with the better finishing result in the last completed event. g) Pole Shuffle Procedure: The following procedures will apply to the Pole Shuffle session/s that will be used to set the Grid for Heat 3 of each Feature Class. i. Top 50% of Drivers with the lowest Points from Heats 1 & 2 will Compete in the Pole shuffle. ii. Two karts will Compete over a two (2) lap Race. iii. The last and second last ranked karts in the top 50% as determined in accordance with Regulation 3.1 g) i) will be the first Karts to be released onto the Track. iv. From the moment the Grid Marshal signals for the Karts to be released, the Drivers are under “Starter’s Orders” and may not receive any outside assistance for repairs or other adjustments to their equipment while on the Track. v. From the moment the Start procedure commences, Race conditions apply. vi. A Driver must maintain their grid position until the Start signal has been given and failure to do so may incur a penalty. vii. The Drivers will complete one (1) rolling lap and a formation lap prior to the Start signal being given. viii. The practice of weaving to warm Tyres during the rolling lap is permitted. ix. The rolling lap will end as Karts pass the Control Line the first time. x. During the rolling lap and formation lap, yellow lights/flags will be displayed to Competitors. xi. The Karts will then cover approximately one (1) formation lap before the start may be given. 2019 AUSTRALIAN KART MASTERS PAGE 6
xii. The Driver on pole position shall set the speed at which both Competitors shall approach the Control Line at a reduced and constant speed, remaining within their lane marked on the Track with no unnecessary acceleration and/or deceleration, in anticipation of a Start signal being given. xiii. The Starter will give the Start signal as the Drivers approach the Control Line and only if they xiv. are satisfied with the formation and speed of the Karts. xv. The static red or yellow lights being switched off will be the Start signal. xvi. A Driver will be permitted to accelerate only after the Start signal has been given. xvii. The winner of a Race shall be the Kart that crosses the Finish Line first. xviii. The winner will progress to the next two (2) lap race and the loser will be required to immediately retire to the in-grid at the completion of the Race. xix. Following completion of the first Race lap by both Drivers and only upon instruction of the Clerk of the Course, the Grid Marshall shall release the third last ranked kart in the top 50% onto the Track to commence it’s rolling lap. xx. The third ranked Kart in the top 50% must form up in position 2 behind the winner of the previous Race for the formation lap. Regulations 3.1 g) x. to xix apply to this Race. xxi. These procedures will apply until all Karts in the top 50% have competed in the Pole Shuffle. h) Winner of Each Class: The winner of each Class will be: i. the Competitor that finishes first in the Final, or ii. for an oversubscribed Class, the Competitor that finishes first in the Super Final. 3.2 Duration of each Event a) The duration of each Event at this Meeting will be as follows: Non-Feature Classes and Divisions Practice 1 Timed Practice Sessions of 8 mins Heat 1 and Heat 2 10 laps Heat 3 and Heat 4 12 laps Final 15 laps Feature Classes and Divisions Practice 1 Timed Practice Sessions of 8 mins Heats 1and 2 10 laps Pole Shuffle 2 Laps Heat 3 and Heat 4 12 laps Final 15 laps Oversubscribed Classes Practice 1 Timed Practice Sessions of 8 mins Heats 1and 2 10 laps Pole Shuffle 2 Laps Heat 3 and Heat 4 12 laps Final 15 laps Super Final 15 Laps 3.3 Drivers Briefing A Drivers Briefing for all Competitors will be held at 8.00am on Saturday 20th April, 2019 on the Out Grid. 3.3 Fuel A Competitor must only use the permitted Control Fuel in each Class or Division in which they are Competing. The Control Fuel for this Meeting must only be purchased as detailed below: a) Fuel Brand: BP b) Fuel Type: BP Ultimate 98 – is the only fuel permitted 2019 AUSTRALIAN KART MASTERS PAGE 7
c) Supplier: BP Service Station d) Supply Location: 58 Fitzroy Street, Grafton. NSW 2460 e) Control Fuel for the Meeting can be purchased from 19th April 2019 onwards f) Control Fuel MUST be used from Saturday 20th April 2019 until the conclusion of the Meeting on Sunday 21st April 2019. Drivers must retain their receipt for production to Officials if requested. 3.4 Transponders a) Each Competitor must have a functioning transponder fitted for every session including Friday Practice. 3.6 Timetable a) The Meeting will be run to a detailed timetable that will be distributed to all registered Competitors after the close of entries. b) In the event of the Meeting running outside of the timetable, notification will be made via the public address system. 3.7 Presentation, Trophies, Plates & Prizes a) The presentation of the Trophies and Prizes will take place 30 minutes after the last Race and/or completion of Technical Inspections. b) Trophies will be presented to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for all Classes where there are more than six entries in that Class. a. In addition to the Trophies, the winner of all Classes that have six or more entries will be awarded a grey plate in accordance with Competition Rules Chapter 1 Rule 11 h). c) Classes with less than six entries will only be awarded to 1st and 2nd places in that Class. 3.8 Front Fairing Technical Rules Chapter 1 Rule 8 g) (iii) will not apply at this Meeting. 3.9 Video Recording Systems Technical Rules Chapter 1 Rule 8 i) (iv) 6 c) will not apply at this Meeting. 4. CIRCUIT SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS 4.1 Access to Venue a) Competitors will be permitted to enter the Circuit from Thursday 18th April, 2019. b) The Paddock / Pit allocation may be issued by the Organiser. The decisions of the Organiser with regard to Pit / Paddock allocation will be final. c) No parking of motor vehicles is permitted in the Paddock / Pit area without the permission of the Secretary of the Meeting. d) Cars/trailers of Competitors and Pit crews not incorporated into a pit area must be parked outside of the Pit Area in the designated Car Parking area. 4.2 Kart Retrieval a) Pit Crew with trolleys will not be given access to the Track during Qualifying and Racing. b) Retrieval of Karts will only be permitted at the direction of the Clerk of the Course. c) Pit Crew must only enter the Circuit when permitted by the Grid Marshal and then only if wearing a HIGH VISIBILITY SAFETY VEST on the upper torso. 4.3 Security a) Security will be provided on Friday and Saturday nights. 4.4 Medical Services a) Any Medical assistance that is required outside of the operating hours when Kart’s are not on the Track please contact 000. 192 Clarence Way, MOUNTAIN VIEW NSW 2460. 4.5 Venue Requirements a) Smoking or welding is not permitted in the Pit areas. b) The dumping of Fuel at the site is not permitted. c) The dumping of Tyres at the site is not permitted. d) Subject to any applicable laws which may govern the access of animals, including but not limited to guide dogs, no animals are allowed anywhere within the facility. e) No Motorised scooters, mini bikes, roller blading, skateboards, bicycles and tricycles allowed at the complex during the entire Meeting. Officials may confiscate any such items for the duration of the Meeting. f) No unlicensed driving of motor vehicles is permitted at the Circuit. g) A clear visor is required for twilight or dull conditions. h) Camping at the venue may be permitted within your designated pit spot or a nominated area by the organiser’s. i) All roadways in the Pit and Paddock area are designated spectator areas. 2019 AUSTRALIAN KART MASTERS PAGE 9
