From the Director’s Desk Dear Friends, Challenges, Success and Pride all come to mind when writing this season’s message. At times we face a variety of challenges with facilities, budgets, staffing, timing, weather, appearance, maintenance, ADA compliance, planning, etc. That said, we continue to take pride in our offerings based upon our current conditions. Our ultimate goal is to serve the public and make sure that not only are we working to meet your needs, but to offer alternatives for the enjoyment of your environment. In short...public satisfaction. We hope you find our programs, events and facilities visually appealing, comfortable for your families, of high quality, delivered in a timely manner and budget friendly. That when you visit, our parks are clean and safe. That when your child or grandchild visit the playground, it is maintained to all safety standards, and compliant with our new Tobacco Free Ordinance. That when your children attend day camp, you are certain of their safe and appropriate physical, cognitive and social development. That when you attend a public event or festival, all safety systems are capable and functioning. What we all commonly concede is what we all want and deserve, and expect from our public parks and recreation services. None of this happens, however, without trained, dedicated, responsible park and recreation professionals. I’m proud to be part of such a group along with our labor staff and recreation board that have your best in mind. Another summer is here and gone and like much of us in the industry, we are preparing for our second season. Fall has grown to be one of the busiest seasons for our department and staff as we recognize wanting to extend your summer before the cold winds blow our way. Please join us at a park, event or activity this season and make the most of your township’s offerings. We look forward to seeing you. All the best… Dan Miller Director of Parks & Recreation 3

A Resident Guide to Winter Snow Removal Please keep these thoughts in mind this winter to help our township employee’s maintain local road conditions: • Main roads, school bus routes, and housing developments are the first priority. Roads are plowed and treated according to the current weather conditions. • Because a plow is raised does not mean that the drive is done clearing your street. Exercise caution until you are sure the street is clear. • Remove all vehicles from the street in the event of snowfall. This helps employees to quickly plow the street and take care of others. • Do not shovel snow into the streets. This causes a serious traffic hazard that could cause an accident. Place your shoveled snow onto the side of your driveway, or into the yard. If possible, wait until the road is plowed to shovel the driveway. • Install your mailbox post properly to avoid damage from snow plows. • In the event of an emergency, please call the township office number listed below. Only call in an emergency so the phone lines stay clear. Police: 724-863-8800 Administration Office: 724-863-3806 16 DPW, Director RICHARD G. ALBERT
