Granite Ridge Intermediate Educational Program • Laptop Academic Block: Language Arts & World History • Math Class: Math 7 w/ Math Strategies, Math 7, or Advanced Math 7 • Science: Science 7 or Honors Science 7 • Physical Education • Elective(s)
Math Placement Students will be placed into the appropriate math class based upon the 7th grade placement exam, district benchmark exams, and their 5th/6th grade SBAC math results.
Science Placement Student will be placed in the appropriate science course based upon the 7th grade science placement th th exam, and their 5 /6 grade SBAC Math/ELA results.
Elective Offerings All elective offerings are contingent upon appropriate enrollment and staffing. Be prepared to accept any of the 4 choices, as students may not receive 1st choice. Choose Wisely! No elective changes during the year.

GR Intervention Classes • Academic Seminar – This class is for students not meeting state standards in ELA. The class focuses on reading comprehension, literary analysis, language conventions, writing, homework support, history, and organization. The class is designed to help support students in their AB classes. • Study Strategies – This class is designed to support students who struggle with grades because they need academic skills, organizational and study skills, and would benefit from support of a teacher monitoring their grades, in-class assignments, and homework.
Intervention Classes Cont… • Math Strategies – This class is for students struggling with mathematical concepts in Math 7. Students will essentially have two periods of Math to provide additional support in mastering the integrated math practices.
Zero Period or Lunch P.E. All combinations of electives, with the exception of Teen Living/Art, or Film Studies, will qualify students to take Zero or Lunch period PE. Please mark PE choice on registration form

Parent/Teacher Communication/Resource Parent Connection • Monitoring grades • Direct communication to teachers • Lunch account access Teacher Websites or Google Classroom • You can find a teacher’s agenda, projects, tests, quizzes, due dates for the day and/or homework assignments. Great way for parents to “look ahead” to see what’s coming up. • Consistent communication with teachers “early on” is very important if your child is struggling in class.
Academic Expectations • Organization: Binder, dividers for each class, use planner, regular use of smart phone calendar, keep notes/assignments neat & organized, etc. • Homework: (1-2 hours per night) includes homework, studying, reading, projects. Make sure student has a quiet place to work at home. Assignments need to be completed and turned in on time. • Time Management: Balance time commitments between school and co-curricular activities. Plan ahead for these events, and don’t procrastinate!
Academic Support • Intervention labs: These labs are designed to give kids more support in a small group setting with a teacher of that subject matter acting as a tutor for the student who needs extra help. Labs are offered at lunch and after school. • Mandatutorials: Students who earn 2 or more Fs on a progress/report card will be enrolled in lunchtime tutorials 3 days a week. Each session is 20 minutes and students work with tutors and teachers to improve their grades.

Athletic Packets • Each Student will need to complete an athletic packet and an athletic physical before they can practice or compete with our teams. • Completed packets must be returned to the Athletic Office to receive clearance for participation prior to the first day of practice or try-outs. • Athletic Packets will be available at the school site or on our website beginning on May 1, 2019.
Athletic Health Screening/ Fall Sports sign-ups • 2019-20 Sports Physical packets will be available beginning May 1, 2019 online at www.cnec.cusd.com or at CNEC (Main Office or Athletics) • Clovis North will host its “Health Screening Night” on Wednesday May 29th from 5:00 to 8:00pm in the CN large gym. • Physical will cost $25 (Cash Only) and the athletic physical is good for the 2019-20 school year only. • Physicals will be conducted by licensed Medical Providers. • Proceeds for physicals are used for Bronco Athletics.
Co-Curricular • Students must have a 2.0 GPA to participate in co-curricular activities • Students below a 2.0 at each grading period will be required to attend study table • Students with 2 consecutive grading periods below a 2.0 become ineligible to participate until the next grading period • Study Table: Monday Night 6-9pm
Pep & Cheer Tryout Info • Applications are available March 25th online, in the CNEC activities office, and at our 5 main feeder schools • Applications are due April 12th to the Activities Office. • Clinics will be held on April 29th and 30th from 5:00 – 6:30 pm in both MPR’s • GR tryouts (incoming 7th Graders) are on May 2nd starting at 3:00pm in the dance room. • Contact Heather Lingenfelter for any questions, or visit the CNEC website under Activities
Front Office Procedures • Visitors must sign in and out of the front office. • Students may pick-up items ( PE clothes, homework, etc.) between classes, before or after school, or lunch time ONLY. A pass will not be sent to avoid classroom interruptions. • Lunch drop off is on the outside windowsill of the Student Services building. Students MAY NOT meet parents at the curb. • Deliveries of food, balloons, flowers, etc., are not allowed, and will not be accepted.
Off Campus Pass and Attendance Procedures • Off campus passes are issued in the attendance office. • Call at least 3 hours prior to requested release time. • Parents must pick up and sign out their student from the attendance office. A valid photo ID must be shown. • Parents are required to clear absences within 5 school days of their occurrence via email through Parent Connect, or by phone.
Tardies • Tardy students arriving more than 30 minutes late, must check in at the front office to receive a pass to class. • Students will receive detention after 2nd tardy. • More details on our attendance policy can be found in our parent handbook (accessible through our CN website).
